As a puppy, Izzy was given as a Christmas gift to two young children by a man who would later become violent. This man used Izzy as a tool of fear and control, threatening to hurt her in front of the children to silence them, and even assaulting their mother when she tried to protect her sweet pup. Thankfully, the mother bravely escaped and got her family to safety, with their abuser behind bars. Out of deep love for Izzy, she made the heartbreaking decision to rehome her so Izzy could have a chance at the peaceful, loving life she deserves. Izzy is now ready for the next chapter of her new life. Izzy has been in foster care in Houston, Texas for several months and is quite a remarkable pup. She is gentle, sweet, kind and has learned to trust and love humans. In her foster home, Izzy has flourished into the gentle, affectionate girl she was always meant to be. She is fully potty trained, house trained, and has excellent indoor manners. Izzy is fantastic with dogs, respectful with cats, and very sweet with children. Bailey is a 2 yr old golden retriever mix, around 48lbs. Bailey is a happy go lucky boy who has the cutest ears and smile, and a sweet personality. He is on the smaller side of a medium dog and loves attention. He is incredibly smart and learns tricks and commands with just a few repetitions. He knows how to sit and shake and goes to his room (kennel) when asked. He loves to play with dogs or people and takes treats very gently. Once he’s done playing, he loves to cuddle and hang out on the couch. He would love a home with a backyard and another dog to play with (but the more the merrier!). His right paw has a slight limp due to an old injury, but he doesn’t let it slow him down! He chases cats in his foster home, so a dog-savvy cat if any, would be best. He is great with the toddler in his foster home, but he does jump when he gets excited, so older kids would be better. Bailey is housebroken and good on leash – the perfect dog for your family! All of The Right to Live dogs are fostered locally in San Antonio Texas and will be transported to other states to their new families upon adoption. We believe fostering dogs and not having them decompress in a kenneled environment is more beneficial for the dogs and builds their trust and companionship in a family situation. Adoption fee includes transportation costs, previous/current medical treatment (spay/neuter, etc.) and a health certificate for cross-state travel.
