Story
Meet Josie At 7 years old and 88 pounds, this beautiful purebred Golden Retriever is ready to start the very best chapter of her life. Josie spent much of her past outdoors, but you’d never know it by the way her gentle, loving spirit shines through. She has a heart as big as her smile and a quiet gratitude for every bit of kindness she receives. Josie absolutely lights up at the mention of a walk and will happily be your loyal sidekick wherever you go—whether it’s a stroll around the neighborhood or a ride through town. She’s wonderful on leash, enjoys car rides, and thrives on simply being by your side. She does well with cats and would be happiest as the only dog in the home, where she can soak up all the love and attention she truly deserves. Josie is also comfortable with children ages 10 and up. Now fully spayed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations, Josie is ready to settle into a cozy home—one where she can trade the cold ground for a soft bed and the outdoors for a life filled with warmth, companionship, and care. She would benefit from daily supplements to support some mild arthritis, but it doesn’t slow her down from enjoying life’s simple pleasures. Josie is the definition of a classic Golden Retriever: loyal, affectionate, and endlessly devoted. All she wants is a family to love—and she’ll give that love back tenfold. If you’re looking for a sweet, steady companion to share your days and adventures, Josie is ready to meet you. If interested, please fill out a statement of interest on our website. ##2694526##

Story
CURRENTLY IN VICTORIA, BC!!! Meet Denny — The Sweetest Golden Retriever Looking for His Forever Family!   Name: Denny Age: 4 years Sex: Neutered Male Breed: Golden Retriever Color: Gold Weight: 31 kg Height: 66 cm (shoulder height)   Rescue Story Denny was rescued in February 2025 after being placed on the euthanasia list at a city shelter. He stayed at a private shelter for several months and moved to his foster home in June. Since then, he has blossomed into the most affectionate, people-loving Golden boy.   ‍‍‍ Socialization with People Denny is an incredibly affectionate dog who loves everyone — familiar people and strangers alike. • He leans in for pets, rubs against people, and loves belly rubs. • He is excellent with children under 13 and is comfortable being lifted or handled gently. • Even with new people, he often rolls over to show his belly. • He enjoys being near people during downtime, though he prefers sleeping alone. • He can be very enthusiastic — sometimes running in for hugs or kisses, which can surprise those not used to big friendly dogs! • No issues with baths, paw cleaning, or handling. He tolerates teeth brushing but isn’t a fan.   Socialization with Dogs Denny is friendly and polite with other dogs. • He approaches both familiar and unfamiliar dogs to greet and play. • He matches well with medium to large dogs and enjoys playful interactions.   With Cats • He watches cats with curiosity outdoors, but when guided by his handler, he follows direction well and continues walking. (He may be suitable for a cat home with proper introductions.)   Energy Level • At first glance he seems high-energy, but his stamina is moderate. • After 3–4 hours of outdoor activity, he often falls asleep as soon as he gets in the car. • During play with dog friends, he starts energetic but will bark to set boundaries when he becomes tired or overstimulated.   ‍ Walks & Outdoor Behavior Denny is a joy to walk. • He has plenty of leash experience and doesn’t pull. • He loves sniffing and will naturally slow down or stop to explore scents. • He becomes excited when he sees the leash — may jump or mouth the leash — so calming him before leaving the house is important. • He loves balls and toys; he can even find hidden balls in grass and often brings home any he discovers during walks!   Other Behaviors • No resource guarding toward people or dogs. • Rarely barks. • Calm in a crate and knows how to get in/out of the car by himself. • Sometimes refuses to get in the car after walks because he wants to stay outside longer. • Mostly potty-trained outdoors. • If he has stomach discomfort early in the morning, he will wake his person up to go outside — letting him out promptly helps prevent indoor accidents. • Occasionally gets soft stool after eating too many treats.   Denny Is Looking For… A family who loves Golden Retrievers’ affectionate, goofy, people-loving personality. Someone who enjoys outdoor activities, understands his excitement around walks, and can provide structure, companionship, and lots of love.   If you think Denny could be the perfect match for you, please submit an adoption application! Story
This is Buck, 8 to 9 months old. I had acquired him as a dog sitting situation until the original owner had medical issues arise and surrendered him to myself and family. Original owner had Buck in a small contained area until we got him. He has little not low training except for going outside. He has been around 2 older dogs, and a 10 year old child. He needs a lot of one on one training that I don't have the time or space to train a large breed dog that needs a lot of room and attention.

Story
Reggie is a big, fluffy “golden teddy bear” who lives for two things: a great play session and an even better couch cuddle- ideally in that order! He’s goofy, affectionate, and once he’s decided it’s time to rest, he turns into a full-body snuggle puddle who wants to be close, preferably on the couch with you. Simply, Reggie’s motto is “Play hard. Sleep hard.” Watch Reggie in action on YouTube (and fall in love responsibly): https://youtu.be/GkfXkf0BkqU Quick stats, Reggie is estimated to be around 3 years old and about 85 lbs. Breed is a best guess since he’s a rescue, but we’re seeing strong Golden Retriever + Great Pyrenees + maybe a sprinkle of Shepherd. Translation- big, handsome, Beyonce moment gorgeous coat, and a lot of Pixar-level-cuteness.. Let’s talk about what Reggie needs to succeed, do not be blinded by his good looks, you still have to get to know him. This boy is a social butterfly, he plays beautifully with dogs, passed a daycare evaluation with flying colors, and has that “let’s be friends!” vibe from go. Other scenarios can look different, passing a dog in a tight hallway, driving by a dog on the sidewalk, or a cutie friend across the street- this is when Reggie’s friendly nature gets the best of him and he looses his best-boy manners. Sounds like my five year old son in some ways. He will make it clear he wants to meet that dog usually by pulling himself their way or even barking, and given his size, if you are unaware of this it can be a lot to manage. This isnt Reggie being reactive, he just gets excited and frustrated that life isn’t all dog-parks and friends so spontaneous playmates could just happen. Basically, he wants to get to the exciting new friend, not hurt it. Although Reggie is an extrovert in the world, he loves coming home to recharge to himself. We all know those people, social extrovert with home-body introvert dedication. Simply, Reggie wants to live alone. Knowing this, here is what Reggies best-match home looks like: • A quieter environment (ideally a house, or at least low dog-traffic walks) where training can actually happen without constant surprises. • A solo-dog home • A person who’s ready to keep building on his training. . He is a smart boy and food-motivated, which makes him a great training partner. Channeling that is key! • A lifestyle that enjoys and supports the “Play hard. Sleep hard” lifestyle. Truly it is an environment all dogs thrive off of- a consistent routine, regular adventures and dog+dog playtime, along with enrichment that tires his brain out in a good way- think puzzle toys, snuffle mats, treat games, etc. Inside the home, Reggie has a ton going for him. He is perfectly content relaxing on his own and doesn’t get worried when you step out or are out of his site. He can occasionally use his bark to communicate but this is easily addressed wiith structure, enrichment, and the mindset that quiet earns rewards. He loves long-lasting chews like Whimzees and beef cheeks- if he is quiet he gets a long-lasting treat that only helps enforce that quiet contentedness. Reggie is both house and crate trained, we love that! Reggie is at ease and relaxes once he is in his crate but will hesitate about going in at first. His previous foster shares that this is easily addressed with routine and gentle training, really stressing that a little effort pays off fast. Now, we know Reggie loves an adventure and for most of us those big, fun adventures involve getting in a car. Reggie is all about getting in the car, he loves loves loves a window seat more than anything! But to Reggie, both sides of the car are his window-seat, Now it doesnt bother me one bit but just know, Reggie will bop back and forth while driving to catch the view on both sides. This is easy to remedy with secure buckling and a ‘car-calm” practice but i will tell you, its hard to be mad when you know he is just so excited by the big-wide-world and everything int it. Let’s not forget, beside those gorgeous good looks he is also an absolute sweetheart! Let’s hit the highlights- he is dog-social, affectionate, loves snuggling, and he’s been described as the kind of big lap dog who can’t get close enough once he knows you are playing for keeps. He also previously passed a cat test with calm curiosity, and because he can be bouncy when excited, we recommend kids 8+ so no one gets accidentally love-tackled. Please know, Reggie is NOT “too much dog”. We love honesty and know that the absolute best dog can be anything but if they are put into the wrong environment. Reggie is a great dog who needs the right environment for that greatness to shine. In that environment, you are guaranteed a boy with the happiest romps, snuggles galore, and one loyal, gorgeously glam dream sidekick. https://adopt.animalsfirst.com/animal/62cc8e128b02916730334440/68efc6d2773f3663c0039b10 Questions?
