Sweet, friendly, eager, affectionate—this girl is sunshine in dog form. If Golden Retrievers had a motivational speaker division, Elsa would be the CEO. But her start wasn’t golden at all. Elsa spent her whole puppyhood tied to a tether outside a trailer, watching the world from a spot of dirt she never deserved. No toys. No soft beds. No one to run to. No one to run with. And yet… her heart never quit. When she first came to us, she had a little food aggression around other dogs—understandable when you’ve never known if your next meal was guaranteed. But with time, consistency, and the realization that she’s finally safe, Elsa has blossomed beautifully. She’s now doing wonderfully with her dog friends and has never shown an ounce of aggression toward people. Humans, in her eyes, are made of magic—especially the ones willing to pet her. Meet the cutest Russ. Russ was surrendered due to family illness. He has made lots of new human friends here and settled into the routine well. He loves playing with squeaky toys and tug toys. Today he spent the morning in the office and was an excellent house guest. He ate a pig ear as a treat which he couldn`t quite believe and tried to bury it to save for later! Russ has been a beloved family pet and knows all about how to behave in the home!The Seattle Animal Shelter is committed to reducing length of stay for all of our shelter pets! Some pets qualify for FREE or reduced adoption fees, please inquire with our Animal Care team to learn more.Pets are complex beings and prior to adoption, interested adopters will be counseled by a staff member to discuss the specific needs for each animal. Meet Lexie! Lexie  is thought to be about 8 years old, although she acts younger sometimes. She likes to chase a ball (and sometimes brings it back!), and she wrestles with Marshall as he tolerates. She LOVES affection and would really like to be an oversized lap dog.   Lexie and Marshall (Marshall is also on our website), are quite bonded and have lived together their whole lives. They were not fed properly and were infested with fleas. The owner rehomed them and nobody knows what happened next, but they were found wandering, starving, and Marshall had a face and mouth full of porcupine quills. Lexie and Marshall get along with each other very well, and even still play together. They lived with 3 indoor/outdoor cats, and both walk well on a leash. We would love to see them in a home together, but if they need to be separated in order to find a home, we will consider that too.    Lexie is vaccinated, spayed and chipped. Her adoption fee is $450 We cover the medical to prepare the pet for adoption and the adopt donations go directly to cover those costs and range from $295-$495.  Thank you for stepping up to save a life!
