Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Barney ❤️ Barney may only be six months old, but he's already proven that he's one tough little survivor. Shortly after entering rescue, Barney was diagnosed with Parvo and spent three weeks in emergency veterinary carefighting for his life. Through it all, he never stopped wagging his tail or showing everyone just how determined he was to make it. Today, this handsome Great Dane/Terrier mix is healthy, happy, and finally ready to find the forever family he's worked so hard to meet. Barney is everything you'd hope for in a puppy. He's playful, affectionate, curious, and always ready for his next adventure. He absolutely loves other dogs, does wonderfully with cats, and adores children. Whether he's romping around the yard with canine friends or snuggling up after a busy day, Barney is happiest when he's surrounded by the people and animals he loves. Because Barney is a recent Parvo survivor, he is not yet vaccinated. His veterinarian has recommended waiting until the appropriate time so his vaccines will be fully effective. He is also not yet neutered, and his adopter will need to work with MMAR to complete his remaining veterinary care according to our adoption agreement. Barney has already overcome more in six months than many dogs experience in a lifetime. Now he's ready for the easy part: being someone's beloved best friend. If you're looking for a joyful, resilient puppy with a heart of gold and a lifetime of love to give, Barney is waiting to meet you. ❤️. If you are interested in a particular pet, we suggest you email: mmarpaws@gmail.com to see if that pet will be there.   Applications are approved on the basis of the best and most appropriate home for the animal, not on a first come, first served basis. On site adoption available to pre-approved applicants only.   Adoption fees go towards vaccines, heartworm prevention/testing, flea/tick prevention, spay/neuter and other medical problems that may arise.   MMAR is an all volunteer, foster based, 501 (c) 3, non profit organization. 🐾💛 DOUBLE THE LOVE, DOUBLE THE LOYALTY 💛🐾 Some dogs are happiest with their people. Zeus and Zora are happiest with each other. 🖤 This bonded pair has built a quiet little world together, and they’re looking for a home willing to open their heart to both of them. While their personalities are different, they balance each other beautifully. ✨ Zeus is the more sensitive of the two. New people and sudden movements can make him cautious at first, especially around larger men, but once he feels safe? He turns into a complete love bug. Zeus loves to follow his people from room to room, curl up close, and be part of whatever you’re doing. He still has a playful side too and enjoys tug toys and roughhousing around with Zora. He’s learning that the world isn’t so scary and continues to gain confidence every day. ✨ Zora is the calm, steady presence in the pair. She’s more laid back, happiest lounging nearby or curling up on you like a giant teddy bear while you relax. She’s not much for playtime and would prefer a peaceful home without younger, overly energetic dogs. Zora can be sensitive to noises and unfamiliar sounds, but once she settles into a routine, she relaxes beautifully and becomes incredibly affectionate. 💛 Together, they: ✔️ Are bonded and rely on each other for comfort ✔️ Love spending time outside with their people ✔️ Walk wonderfully together ✔️ Are eating well and adjusting nicely in foster care ✔️ Enjoy a calm routine and quiet companionship ✔️ Are affectionate, loyal, and deeply loving once they trust you Zeus may occasionally react when seeing other dogs on walks, but he redirects well with guidance and continues to improve. Both dogs thrive with patience, consistency, and a calm environment where they can feel secure. These two don’t need perfection. They just need someone willing to give them the chance to stay together. 🐾 And once they trust you? You’ll never question whether it was worth.

Story
Meet Sprout! SEE FOSTER UPDATES BELOW! This devilishly handsome dane/terrier mix is just five months old and will steal your heart the moment you meet him! He's currently just under 20 pounds but will most likely be upwards of 50 pounds fully grown. Sprout and his sister Brownie are two of the most deserving dogs around! They have overcome horrible odds and have survived parvo. They are now happy, healthy pups who are ready for families that will treat them like the prince and princess they are! Sprout is currently enjoying life at a fabulous foster home. We are happy to report he is crate-trained and well on his way to being house-trained as well. Sprout is one happy-go-lucky dude. He enjoys the company of other dogs and would love to have a furry friend in his new home (though it's not required). Give this guy a rope toy or stuffy and he's one happy camper! Sprout is a fan of all sorts of tasty treats too and his foster family is able to take both toys/food away with no issue. He's learning new commands and is very eager to please. Sprout is great in the car and his leash skills are improving everyday. He's ready to join you on all of your adventures. He even hit the town for dinner with his foster family in downtown Oxford and had a blast with everyone he met. Adopting a puppy is a long-term commitment that takes a lot of patience and dedication. Sprout will need a family that has the time to commit to his training and exercise needs. A yard for him to enjoy would be perfect for this fun-loving pup! He will benefit from continued socialization and can't wait to be part of your life. While he does love playing in the yard, he's also super cuddly and is always up for a snuggle with his foster family. He's even good in the bath! At the end of the day, Sprout sleeps quietly through the night. Based on his evaluation, we feel Sprout will do best in an active home with adults or families with kids of all ages. He may have the potential to live in a home with other pets and we are happy to do a meet and greet with your family fur baby. If you'd like a chance to show Sprout just how good life can be, head to greatlakesdogrescue.com to fill out an application today!
