Story
**Meet Case! 🖤🐾** If you've ever wondered what happens when you combine a puppy, a giraffe, and a shadow that follows you everywhere, meet Case! This handsome black Great Dane/Catahoula mix is all floppy legs, oversized paws, and pure devotion. Seriously... his feet are HUGE. We have a feeling this boy is going to grow into a very large dog someday, but right now he's mostly just an adorable collection of gangly limbs trying to figure out where they all belong. Case is, without question, one of the most people-loving puppies you'll ever meet. While most puppies are busy chasing toys or wrestling with other dogs, Case's favorite hobby is simply being near his person. He wants to lean on you, sit by your feet, follow you from room to room, and soak up every bit of attention and affection you have to offer. If you're looking for a loyal sidekick, you've found him. He's a sweet, gentle puppy who doesn't nip and is happiest when receiving pets. He may get excited and jump up to say hello, but the moment you start loving on him, he melts into a sit and happily enjoys the attention. Case is doing great with kennel training and has been keeping his kennel clean overnight. He'll bark for a few minutes when first tucked in for the night and may whine a little if he hears people moving around, but he settles in nicely. We're also working on leash walking. His current strategy is to either weave around your legs or walk directly between them—which is less about disobedience and more about his determination to stay as close to you as physically possible. Personal space is not really Case's thing. If you're looking for a giant breed puppy with a giant heart, Case may be your perfect match. Just be prepared: those giant feet are coming with an equally giant dog someday! He still needs a lot of grocery's so he can fill into his oversized feet. **Adoption fee: $450 plus tax** Apply to adopt at www.campcompanion.org

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.River came to MCHS on 9/30/2025 as a stray caught after running loose for a few days, held for the legal hold time, and never claimed. We do think she was part of a litter of hound mix pups that came through our shelter in February 2024 as she looks exactly like many of them and we know we never received all of those puppies. This lets us know that she is a 2 year old bluetick coonhound/Great Dane mix. River has been vet checked and spayed and her fee is $150. Hounds. Ya gotta love'em! They're stubborn, fun loving, and ruled by their noses and the scents on the breeze. River is energetic, strong, and does like to push the boundaries. She's also extremely happy and loving. She will require a secure environment and a lot of exercise. At this time, we do think she'd do best as the only pet in the home, at least until she gets some good training and socialization. She definitely needs some basic training and would do best in a home without little kids, due to her size and somewhat clumsy nature. River will definitely be a loyal and happy companion for someone. She loves to give hugs. This gal has spent too much time at the shelter and is more than ready to head to a new home! NOTE:  Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application has been completed and approved. Applications must be submitted at our website, mchs.rescuegroups.org. We are located at 101 22nd St. SE in Austin, right next to the airport. It's exit 180B off of I-90, right off of 218 South. We do require that potential adopters be at least 21 years old and that any resident dogs be up to date on vaccinations, heartworm testing/preventatives, and spayed or neutered.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.June 24, 2026, 5:52 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Peggy is a coonhound mix who came to us on 2/26/2026, after fulfilling her legal stray hold at the city pound. She could be related to dogs we've had over the last couple of years whose parents were a Great Dane mix and bluetick coonhound, which would make her 2 to 3 years old. Peggy arrived with a significant growth in one eye. This did result in her eye being surgically removed during her spay surgery. Dogs are very resilient, however, and we know she'll adjust well to this new normal. She has been completely vetted now, is chipped, and her fee is $150. Peggy is really a delightful gal who is looking for a home that is somewhat accustomed to hounds. They tend to be controlled by their noses and can be a bit stubborn and vocal. Peggy is loving and affectionate and will require regular exercise. She does seem to have had some basic training. We think she could be okay with a well mannered male dog. Cats are probably a no. Kids over 5 should be fine with her. She is not a dog for apartment living. NOTE:  Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application has been completed and approved.
