Story
Meet JJ. (Yes, she’s real. No, she’s not a small horse—we checked.) JJ is a 1-year-old Great Dane who started life convinced everything was trying to kill her…including doorways, car rides, and probably the concept of Tuesdays. Before coming to us, JJ had never: Been to a vet Walked on a leash Been in a car So when we say her first day was rough…we mean R O U G H. Picture this: 100 pounds of pure, unfiltered panic.Total system overload. And a very large, very terrified dog needing to be carried into the vetlike a baby deer who pays no bills but still causes emotional damage. We wish we were exaggerating. We are not. BUT THEN— CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT This girl really said,“okay but what if the world…isn’t actually terrible???” And proceeded to have the most incredible glow-up. Now?? JJ is happy, social, confident, and fully living her best life. Loves kids Good with cats Dog-friendly Walks on a leash like it didn’t personally offend her once upon a time Crate naps like a pro (on an orthopedic bed, obviously—she has standards now) She went from:“The world is ending” To:“Where are we going and why am I not already in the car???” And let’s address the real issue— JJ is a problem. Because you will not go anywhere without hearing: “OH MY GOD LOOK AT THAT DOG”“Is that a Great Dane???”“Can I pet her???”“Wow she’s BEAUTIFUL!!” You? Invisible.JJ? Celebrity. We’re just preparing you. JJ is the definition of resilience. She just needed patience, love, and someone to show her the world wasn’t so scary. Now she’s ready for her forever home—one that will keep building her confidence, embrace her giant goofball energy, and maybe…invest in a bigger couch. Because she will take all of it. Adopt JJ. She'll change your life. And accept that she will absolutely steal the spotlight. Applications for adoption can be completed on our website: allieandpalsrescue.org/adopt JJs adoption fee is $600 this includes age appropriate core vaccines at the time of adoption, microchip with lifetime registration, spay, heartworm negative, and up to date on prevention.  ##2713856##

Story
Roo is a 2–3 year old Blue Merle Great Dane adult who weighs 85 pounds and was found abandoned by a well-known lake in Tennessee.  Someone rescued her from this terrible fate of no food or clean water and no place to be as she was wandering around the lake area very skinny and starved.  She was so grateful when someone took her home.  She then had different people foster her only for a few days at a time until this wonderful family saw her plight and need and said.....let us take her and foster her with a good rescue group.  Now this big girl named Roo has some stability in her life and has earned the nickname “Velcro dog.”  Of course this lost and abandoned girl who was deserted by a lake and then bounced a few times, wants to be right by your side and soak up every ounce of love and attention you’re willing to give her.  She will learn one day that noone is ever going to abandon her again.  This athletic girl has plenty of energy, loves to play with a happy spirit and and is an impressive olympic class jumper. She will thrive best in an active home.  Food definitely motivates her and this makes it super easy to train her and get her undivided attention. Roo is house-trained, crate-trained, cat-friendly, and absolutely loves to snuggle in the bed with her humans.    Roo bonds quickly and becomes very protective of her people so we will have tips on how to temper that zealous enthusiasm to claim you. She needs a family where she can be the queen of the castle and receive endless love and attention in return. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who will stick by you through everything, Roo is your girl!       Please write to Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com if you are interested.  She is currently fostered in Tennessee and can be adopted locally and also can transport to a loving family that is northeast of Tennessee.  We transport almost weekly on the weekends.       PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comApril 21, 2026, 9:05 pm

Story
Tyler - 16 weeks & 35lbs, Great Dane Mix, Neutered Expected to be about 80lbs full grown  This dog is eligible to join our foster-to-adopt program. Please email fostertoadopt@socialteesnyc.org with the animal’s name in the subject line if you are interested! Want to straight up adopt? Submit an adoption application at socialteesnyc.org Level of dog ownership experience required:INTERMEDIATE – This dog will need significant structure and plenty of daily exercise, training, and mental stimulation – 90 consecutive minutes of movement in the morning plus potty break walks and brain games throughout the day. The adopter must have relevant primary care experience with a similar breed, temperament, and/or energy level. (Primary care experience includes ownership, fostering, or dog sitting as an adult, not a dog you grew up with.) Energy level:MEDIUM – Needs a daily 60-90 minute walk or window of quick paced exercise (minimum) in addition to potty break strolls (10-30 min each). Also needs significant socializing opportunities outside the home and mental stimulation at home like tricks training practice, chew items, and puzzle toys. (This is regardless of dog size – many small breeds were designed for lots of activity and will exhibit unwanted behavior when they’re understimulated.)  Okay in the city?We don’t know yet because this pup is brand new to us. Most adult dogs do well in the city after they’ve had time to adjust to a new environment, but some never adapt and need homes in the burbs.  Potty trained?Probably! Adults usually are, but all will have transitional accidents for the first week or so. A consistent walking route and schedule plus finding spots with grass or dirt can help. Social with other dogs?Yes, but we don’t know to what degree yet. Some like to wrestle with every passing pup, others can coexist well but prefer to keep to themselves. We’ll learn more soon. Social with cats? Not sure yet! Some breed mixes that are generally NOT great matches for homes with cats include large hounds, huskies, and shepherds.  Comfortable with children?  (ALWAYS requires adult supervision)We’re not sure yet, but we try to err on the side of caution. Respectful kids ages 8 and up are probably a safe bet. Children must always be monitored and taught to interact with dogs of any age carefully.  Medical status:Healthy as far as we know. Up to date on their DHPP, Bordetella, and Rabies vaccines; heartworm tested if coming from Tennessee or Puerto Rico; spayed/neutered; microchipped; treated with dewormer upon intake How did this dog end up with Social Tees? Most of our dogs come via partner groups who help us save them from shelters where they are at risk of euthanasia in Tennessee, Los Angeles, and Puerto Rico. There are very few spay/neuter resources there and many more animals in those areas than there are people to adopt them. Rescue groups like ours bring them to the northeast where the desire for pets like these allows us to save their lives.  PLEASE NOTE: We cannot guarantee any breed mix, exact age, or full grown size (if the dog is under a year old). We do our best with very educated guesses. This animal is not at the Social Tees office, all are in foster homes. LEARN MORE ABOUT US: socialteesnyc.org and Instagram @socialteesnyc ##2709520##
