Story
Meet Burl, the 110lb Love Machine!  Looking for a new best friend who could double as a couch and blanket?  Well, say hello to Burl, a giant of a dog with an even bigger heart. At 110 lbs, Burl is practically a doggie skyscraper, but don’t let his size fool you—he's all sweetness and snuggles. Here’s what you need to know:  Size: A lot of dog, a little bit of clumsiness. Expect your door frames to be gently nudged, and maybe a knock over a lamp (he's working on the whole "graceful" thing).  Personality: Think teddy bear meets gentle giant. Burl is incredibly chill, loves belly rubs, and doesn’t mind sharing his space with other dogs—big or small!   Lifestyle: Can you handle a dog who insists on being the center of attention but also is totally okay just lounging with you for hours? If so, Burl is your guy.  Burl is ready to find a family that understands he’s not just a dog—he’s a lifestyle. If you’ve got room in your home (and your heart) for a lovable giant, Burl would be thrilled to meet you! Burl is 4 years old and weighs 110 lbs.  He is vetted, neutered, and chipped.   He is available for adoption now at houndsinpounds.org Our adoption areas include: Georgia, New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Maine, Vermont, Virginia, Delaware, Maryland, the District of Columbia, Rhode Island, and New Hampshire. ##2298943##

Story
Hello world! I’m Cassie, a 9-10 month old Great Dane mix in a 40 lb package! I am a true bundle of love! I’m super sweet and always ready to give kisses, and I’ve been told I’m good in the car. Whether we’re going for a ride or just hanging out at home, I’ll always be by your side, showering you with affection. Life hasn’t always been easy for me—I was abandoned in a house before being rescued. But I’m ready to put the past behind me and focus on all the good things ahead. I’m good with kids and have such a loving nature. The humans at the rescue say I may be deaf, but that doesn’t slow me down! I’m eager to learn new things. What I really need is a forever family who will see how special I am, despite the bumps in my journey. I would thrive in a home where I feel safe and loved. Could that home be yours? Thank you so much for your interest in adopting a dog from A New Chance Animal Rescue (https://anewchancear.org). We are a 501c3, tax deductible organization. ANCAR is a foster-based rescue, and we adopt within a 90 mile radius of Bedford Hills, NY. You will find the adoption application here: (https://anewchancear.org/adopt/adoption-application/). All fields on the application must be completed. Please read about the adoption process (https://www.anewchancear.org/adopt/our-adoption-process/) so you'll know what to expect when you submit. Our dogs are in foster care and we do NOT have a shelter or boarding facility. AN APPLICATION MUST BE COMPLETED IN FULL AND APPROVED BEFORE A DOG CAN BE MET. This is a firm policy. Our busy volunteers are not able to respond to questions about the dog or dog meeting requests in the absence of an application. We know these dogs very well because they are in foster care. Please read the profiles of the dog(s) you are interested in prior to submitting an application. If there are specific requirements stated (ie: Fenced Yard or Canine Friend Required) these are included because they are vital to the happiness, health, safety and adoption success of that dog. We are only able to save as many dogs as we have foster homes (https://www.anewchancear.org/foster/faqs/) and resources for. We provide medical care including vaccinations, testing, deworming, spaying/neutering and microchipping before transporting our dogs. We provide all supplies, preventatives and any follow up vet care necessary while they are in foster care. These costs are high and the number of lives we can save is entirely dependent upon donations from people like you. We do not receive funding from private foundations or government sources. If you can find room in your heart to help us, with any amount, we are truly grateful (https://www.anewchancear.org/help/donate/). We are a 501c3 organization, so all donations are tax-deductible. It is only through the kindness of supporters like you that we are 'changing lives...one tail at a time' by providing our dogs with 'A New Chance.' (https://anewchancear.org) Thanks so much.

If you have any questions, please email us at adoptions@pawscrossedny.org for more information. Please understand that we cannot hold any pets. All adoptions are done on a first come, first adopt basis for pre-approved applicants. The Shelter software system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of our dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We encourage you to select your new companion by considering each dog's individual personality and pet qualities instead of relying on a breed label that is only a guess.December 30, 2024, 1:15 am

Story
Ivy Rose Great Dane ( DNA Proves Full-Blood) Unfortunately Ivy was heartworm positive when rescued but is doing slow kill treatment and doing great. Hi! I’m Ivy Rose! I’m told I’m around the age of 3, but I’m not positive about that. I’m a Great Dane that was found as a stray with a litter of puppies under a porch at a school in Texas! I made my way up here in November 2023 with my litter of puppies. They all found their homes as soon as we got to New Jersey. But me? I haven’t had the best luck. I had two potential adopters but it didn’t work with them and my foster parents now say that it wasn’t my fault. And I think they’re right! It just wasn’t the right situation or the right people introducing me correctly to my new surroundings. I’m a real big girl but I’m on a diet now and exercising with my foster parents. I’m currently living with two dogs… and one of them is actually my son! I was correctly introduced to them and I’m doing really, really well with them. I will from time to time tell my son to get out of my face but it’s just normal dog communication and behavior and he’s a little annoying anyway ( a lot annoying actually, he’s a big boy that’s still a puppy). I also currently am with two little humans (2&4) and they’re pretty cool, too. I do get a little strange towards them if they’re crying/making loud noises though. So my foster mom has been giving us some space until I learn they’re not something to be frightened of. My foster dad has been really great exposing me to new things. I’ve been around chainsaws, chippers, mini skids, air compressors and really any loud scary thing you can think of. And I’m doing great with them! I also don’t mind the horses and goats here, they’re pretty fun to watch and they don’t even phase me. I do get a little scared on walks when cars pass by and I’ll lay down. But honestly I’m getting over that pretty quickly too! All in all I think I’m a really special girl. I REALLY love staying right by my foster parents sides and have no intention on running off. If I’ve accepted you as my, “person” I really won’t leave your side and I’ll want to be next to you 24/7. I know I could make someone really happy. I think it would be best to find a home that has large dog experience, older kids or no kids (as I’ve shown to be a little over interested when they’re upset/loud), another dog friend would be a lot of fun, someone willing to continue to work with me to build my confidence/structure/discipline/obedience. I know I have a lot of potential to be really great! Get your applications in. You must have an approved application to come and meet them. Once you submit an application please reach out to us in text or email. We text people so make sure your phone is not blocking unkown callers. Please do not submit an application and then ignore us when we contact you. Please send us a message on Facebook and don't forget to Like and Follow our page . Story
Meet Maggie, A Wonder Woman Wearing a Catwoman Mask 🐶 Once a volunteer accidently dropped her leash and let her run away. Within minutes, Maggie returned on her own and gave the volunteer a big hug. She even brought a stick as a peace offering. It is amazing to see Maggie still has complete faith in humanity despite of surviving from Mass Dog Slaughterhouse. Maggie will love you whether you live in a little trailer or a big house. No matter what kind of mood you are in, Maggie can always make you smile. Can you be a special someone to give Maggie a home?
