Story
Lottie is one of our longest residents here at ECAC. This girl has been at the shelter for 8 months and we cannot believe no one has scooped her up. Lottie is the BEST girl. She is the sweetest girl to her people and all of us here at ECAC absolutely adore her. She is a 3-4 year old Great Pyrenees. She is completely house trained and does well with cats. Her favorite toys are the smallest squeaky toys that she loves to throw into the air and around the room. When she gets excited she prances around the room and loves to play a game of catch me if you can with her people 😂 She absolutely loves to be brushed and will sit there for hours enjoying her best life. All in all Lottie is the best girl... however she does have some quirks that come with her. Lottie came to us after living with an older gentleman. It was always just the two of them so unfortunately she wasn't socialized properly. Being a Great Pyrenees it is in her DNA to guard so she tends to stick close to her people. You can always find her close by and she loves to lean up against her person for pets 🩷 Lottie does well meeting new people without "her" people being around so a special meet and greet with her could be arranged. Lottie needs a home with very low traffic or a home where she could be put up when company comes over.

Story
We are needing to rehome this sweet soul. Meet Axel. He is a neutered, almost four year old Great Pyrenes/Australian Shepherd. He has always been an inside dog. We have to admit that we are out of our element with this breed. We have always been a Labrador family and have never owned a Great Pyrenes before. Axel has such a playful personality, incredibly intelligent, and a wonderful protector. As much as we love him, we keep expecting him to behave like a Lab and yet he is not. He deserves to be in a family that understands the breed and can provide the perfect home for him. He is up to date on all of his shots and heartworm negative. He loves walks and laying his gentle head on your shoulder. He is not food aggressive, but good with our other dog. He has never been a livestock guardian, but guards our home well. We love him so.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Clay County Animal Rescue & Shelter is located at 375 Water Elm Lane, Flora, IL. Our phone number is 618-665-3005.  We are renovating our shelter so hours are by appointment only.  The typical adoption fee for dogs is $150.  It includes vaccination, deworming , spay/neuter, heartworm testing on dogs of age and microchipping, which is now mandatory by state law.  Some dogs we discount to as little as $50 due to sponsorship.  Some dogs we ask a higher adoption fee, which helps us recoup expenses on heartworm treatment on other dogs. All cats are spayed/neutered/vaccinated/flea treated/dewormed and microchipped prior to adoption.  Cat adoption fees range from $60-$100.  We spay/neuter/microchip/vaccinate and deworm all kittens and cats, prior to adoption.  Our shyer/less adoptable cats are classed as "barn cats" and are free with a completed/approved barn cat application, which can be found on our website. For updates on adoption events and more pics of pets available, go to our website, www.claycountyshelter.com or look for us on Facebook.   April 10, 2024, 12:00 am
