Story
Buddy DOB 4/25/21 Buddy is a handsome 2 1/2 year old neutered male Great Pyrenees. He enjoys playing with female dogs but may not get along with all male dogs. He needs a well secured yard because he loves to spend lots of time outside. He has been trained to do some fun agility obstacles and actually plays fetch with his ball! He has been with cats. He is being trained to walk on a leash without pulling. He is a minimal barker. He loves to watch the sky. Buddy is deaf but this does not hamper his intelligence. He is smart, knows some hand signals and body expression and will quickly learn more. However due to deafness he will always need to be on a leash outside his yard. He was born deaf. Buddy loves pats and adores his people. He is a delightful companion. He does not counter surf and is respectful while you eat. A perfect home would have a high secured fenced yard and another female dog partner to play with. His person is someone who is willing to relish life with a deaf dog and learn/explore new and deeper ways to communicate. So many dogs learn our language. This is an opportunity to communicate in another way and share a deeply unique bond. Please go to our website if you are interested in one of our dogs. It explains the process and has an application you can fill out there. http://www.nepyresq.org/page/adoption-process-guidelines-48.html

Story
Hogan - DOB 2/3/2019 From his foster mom.. Hogan is truly a gentle giant. very calm. well mannered. no bad habits that I have seen since he has been with me. He gets along w/my cat and my other pyr. He is easy on the leash. at first a little eager but settles into the walk w/o pulling. He does have a wet mouth maybe 50/50 of the time. Rarely barks indoors. Typical barking for any dog outdoors when he sees or hears anything. Understands a no command. He rides great in the car. Sleeps on his dog bed, he does snore a lot. Reported food and water bowl guarding from previous owner. I have fed/watered indoors separate from my pyr. We have progressed to no water bowl guarding with water bowl outdoors. He does not challenge backyard fence but is not outside unsupervised (I never leave any of my dogs outside unsupervised). Previous owner had him at doggie daycare during the day and I understand that went well. Hogan will do well as an only dog or w/another dog. My pyr is a calm demeanor so I can only speak to his response(great) w/Titan. Not ideal to allow him to be sedentary. he's young and likes activity. He came to us because of resource guarding around toddlers. He would do better in an adult home. He is scheduled for a vet visit on 1/2/24. ( soonest we could get him in. ) Then he will be scheduled for a neuter. Please go to our website if you are interested in one of our dogs. It explains the process and has an application you can fill out there. . If it goes through you will get an email from nepyresq@gmail.com with the next steps of the process. http://www.nepyresq.org/page/adoption-process-guidelines-48.html

Rose (aka Rainey) - DOB 10/27/2017 spayed female. She was ours and one of the Iowa 5 dogs we took in back in 2018. She was adopted in 2019. The Owners are not well. She is good with other animals. Extremely shy of new people but no aggression there. She will do best in a home with another dog. Rose will need time to warm up to you. She MUST have a fenced yard. She will take time for you to be able to touch her and to leash her. You must earn her trust. Please go to our website if you are interested in one of our dogs. She would do best in a home without small children. They drop food, are too quick and noisy for her. She would prefer a quiet home. She was well behaved at the vet. She just prefers people let her sniff them first. She loves treats and is motivated to do things for food. If she has something she is not supposed to have offer her a delicious treat. She had dog friends at the doggie daycare and boarding facility. She loves to be petted. Rides well in a car and walks well on a leash. She is up to date on her shots, heartworm negative and ready for love. She is a typical Pyr and not to be mistaken for a White Golden Retriever.

We have more dogs being turned into rescue. We will keep our site update as they come in, are vetted and determined ready to be adopted. If you have never had a Pyr Puppy you need to read this : http://www.nepyresq.org/page/i-want-a-great-pyrenees-puppy-50.html The application process is to go to our website and fill out an adoption application form. http://www.nepyresq.org/page/adoption-process-47.html We do not accept INVISIBLE fencing for the following reasons: 1) Most Pyrs ignore the pain and go through it. 2) This is a guardian breed and this fencing does not keep people or other animals out of your yard. The Pyr could take them as a threat or be attacked. WE do not allow them to be tied out. It makes them aggressive. If you do not have a fenced yard then a fenced area would be acceptable. Most of these dogs are not a dog park breed. They bark a lot and can bother your neighbors.
