We adopted Luke from a local shelter in March 2026. He is now approximately 8-9 months old. Shortly after he settled in our home he began showing signs of resource guarding (his food and me) We moved his food to a private location and don’t allow him to interact with us when we feed him but his guarding of me has become unsafe for my children. He does not like when they approach me or are around me. He needs someone experienced with this behavior and I would recommend no children in the home. He is up to date on all vaccinations, house trained, does well on a leash, and is not reactive to neighbors-dogs- kids while in our yard or going for walks. His barking is minimal and he sleeps through the night in my bedroom. He loves going on adventures to the park and dog friendly stores. He is a wonderful dog if it was just myself, but as much as we’ve worked with him we just don’t feel comfortable with him around the kids (age 9-15). Please someone give him a good home!

She came in last November due to whelp pups at any time. She was a livestock guardian dog and her family loved her, so no negative comments. She lived on their farm with the male dog and took care of the livestock, especially their goats. They never intended for her to have to find another home, but one of the family members became ill. When she came in she was very fearful and very intimidating to my volunteers. We took it slow with her and I figured she would just end up living her life with me. But with time she has become the favorite and is making great progress in preparing for a new home. Sugar is a 2 yrs old purebred Great Pyrenees. She grew up around all types of farm animals and although would no doubt adjust to house life I think would love to find a family that has some farm animals and allows her to go to the barn when they are doing chores. She needs a fenced yard (no exceptions). This girl loves to lay out in the yard and just watch the world go by. She is very intelligent and just needs a family to give her time to settle in and you will see her personality come out. Her adoption fee is $400. All of her vetcare is current. Great Pyrenees 2 thumbnail We recently took in a 5 year old purebred unaltered Great Pyrenees from someone unable to keep their pet but he wasn’t a great fit for what we were looking for. He is a wonderful dog and a very good boy but needs a little more work with guarding goats. With some training, I believe he would be a great livestock guardian. He is great with other dogs and children. He would also be a great pet. We are heartbroken to have to find another home for him but unfortunately we just don’t have the time to devote to training.
