**It is strongly encouraged to research the Great Pyrenees breed prior to considering one for adoption. While they are wonderful dogs, they are not for everyone. SOCIAL MEDIA HASHTAG:  #libbylou AGE: 5.5yrs (Apr 2023)WEIGHT:  106.4lbsWORKING LGD:  NO - family pet only DOGS:  Good: Can be bossy at timesDOG RESTRICTIONS:  Can be temperamental with pushy dogs CATS:  UnknownCHILDREN:  GoodOTHER ANIMALS (birds, farm animals, etc): Unknown FENCED YARD REQUIRED:  Yes GOOD OFF LEASH:  NO!! ROAMER/RUNNER GROOMING/SHEDDING NEEDS:  HighMEDICAL ISSUES:  None MEDICATIONS:  Anxiety meds SPECIAL NEEDS:  Somewhat - Libby is severely afraid of beeping sounds due to previously wearing a shock collar prior to rescue. She is on medication so that she will not harm herself or escape. She is also a fence climber/jumper and can scale a 6ft fence. Will forever have to be leash walked only. ANXIETY:  Yes - due to her severe fear of beeps. Also has storm anxiety.BARKING:  High EXPERIENCED OWNER NEEDED:  Yes CRATE TRAINED:  Yes HOUSE TRAINED:  Yes GOOD IN CAR:  Yes FUN FACTS:  Libby is a delightful character and shows great affection for everyone. She enjoys snuggling, loves to give hugs, and she is extremely gentle and kind...outside of her Pyr Paw, which is very strong when she opts to use it. She does well with dogs but can sometimes be dominant and overly bossy, so she'll need someone experienced in handling interactions between dogs, as well as understand it may be a little more prominant in the beginning. She is well behaved and loves to go on walks. Lizzy has a very big bark and while she isn't excessive, it's LOUD, so being mindful of close neighbors is important. **PLEASE READ FOLLOWING INFORMATION IMPORTANT:  Libby will forever have to be leash walked and NEVER allowed off leash for any outdoor time, even potty breaks, even in a fenced yard. She will bolt and climb/clear a 6ft fence without hesitation. She enjoys going on walks and is great on a leash, so someone who likes to take a few daily walks would be ideal (NOTE that Libby is NOT a jogger or long distance runner). She is a big girl, though, so her adopter needs to be comfortable holding her on a leash. Libby is well behaved indoors, but will require a giant crate when someone isn't home to protect her in case she becomes afraid of a sound or storm. We feel she would enjoy the company of another dog but it is not required. She will require patience during the transition, however. Libby is a LOVELY girl with a tremendous heart who is adored by everyone she meets. She is charming, affectionate, kind and all around wonderful...but she does require someone who will understand her needs. ##1239538##

Story
Lacey is a livestock guardian dog. We've had her for almost 5 years. During that time she's had two litters of very cute puppies. She has suddenly started digging under the gate and escaping. It doesn't do us any good to have a livestock guardian dog that's not guarding the livestock. LOL. However she's a very sweet doggie and very loving. When our lambs were born this spring she protected them and licked them so sweetly. We don't know why she suddenly doesn't want to be here, but we can't keep her chained up all the time. Maybe you would have the time to train her! She is 3/4 Great Pyrenees 1/4 and a Anatolia Shepherd.

Story
This is a courtesy post. Please do not contact Heart of the Foothills Animal Rescue for information. Contact information is provided in the description below.Camaro is a three-year old Great Pyrenees-Pit Bull Terrier mix. She is a love bug, but is dog aggressive towards her sister, Bailey. The person who has been taking care of her is not sure how she would be with other dogs or cats. She is learning not to jump, to walk o a leash, and working on her manners. She is good with women and kids, not sure about men. She rides well in the car. She has been outside her whole life, so not sure if she is house trained or not. SHe is spayed and up-to-date on vaccinations. If you are interested in Camaro, please email sommerfeldtnichole@gmail.com

Story
Antora is a Great Pyrenees puppy, born around January 19.  On 4/15, she weighed nearly 40 pounds and will be a VERY BIG GIRL.  Her future home will be required to have a large, fenced yard, as Pyrs are known to love being outside, to be independent, and to wander.  She could do well as a farm guardian too, especially if there is another guardian dog on the farm/property to show her the ropes.  We prefer for her to go to someone with experience with Pyrenees because they are a very specific breed with specific needs. She is spayed, microchipped, up to date on all of her vaccinations and has been on heartworm and flea prevention while in our care. Her adoption fee is $450 and you can apply to meet this gorgeous girl at MPRAVL.org! All Mountain Pet Rescue (Asheville) animals are up-to-date on vaccinations, spayed/neutered and micro-chipped before adoption. Contact the foster parent or Mountain Pet Rescue at pets@mpravl.org for more information. Please note that visual breed identification of companion animals has been proven to be unreliable, so for most of our animals we provide a best guess at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our animals as an individual and do our best to describe and place pets based on personality not breed label. Mountain Pet Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit tax deductible charity (EIN 82-3039637) located in Asheville, NC. May 4, 2024, 6:17 am

Will require patience and committment. Zero aggression - A very kind dog ANXIETY:  Very afraid of people and will run and/or hide. Afraid of storms but just wants to be with you.BARKING:  High - Extremely LOUD EXPERIENCED OWNER NEEDED:  Yes CRATE TRAINED:  Yes but will break out HOUSE TRAINED:  Yes GOOD IN CAR:  Yes.  FUN FACTS: Theo was severely abused. Upon entry into rescue he hid in a corner, back to us, and shook hard. He's come a long way, however, and does well on his calming drops. He loves his foster family, but he is still a timid guy and afraid of new people. He will require commitment, devotion, and patience. He will not be a dog that is snuggly and kissy or wrapped up in his new family, due to his need to learn to trust. He will take a significant amount of time to learn and to establish acceptance of his new life but he is SO worth it. Theo is a VERY KIND and GENTLE dog with a soft, loving heart. He has absolutely ZERO aggression. He's also highly intelligent. He requires a 6ft fence for playtime and to be on a leash at ALL times when not in the fenced area due to his fears and his breed - NO EXCEPTIONS. He will also need someone who can handle his strength for times when he might be afraid on a leash. *Note that he is probably not full grown at 103lbs. Theo loves his canine companions and would be unhappy in a home without other dogs, but he will need gentle introductions just b/c he'll be afraid. He loves to play and highly depends on his canine friends. Theo LOVES treats and food, and he is very mild mannered when taking them from you. He loves his morning and evening treat and runs to the kitchen and sits handsomely when he knows it's time. He's a fun boy with a tremendous smile, and he also talks similar to a Husky at times. Theo is devoted to those he loves and appreciates their kindness. He is a lovely boy with an innocent and very sweet disposition. ##1311506##
