Story
Prince was born in the Fall of 2022 and adopted from McKamey at around six months. He has a doggie friend with whom he lives and plays and also lives with a cat that he tolerates. He loves being outside but is known to get out of the fenced area when left unsupervised. He's a very sweet boy. I moved away over a year ago and he has been under the care of my house sitter but I am about to lose the property where he has been staying. He has an allergy to fleas and the topical flea treatments don't seem effective so he is bathed often with Dawn soap and uses a Soresto collar.

Story
Please contact Adoptions (adoptions@thalppc.com) for more information about this pet. Nakoa is a 1 year old true mix that weighs 46 pounds. We did a DNA test through Wisdom Panel and were completely suprised at his results. He is 25% Great Pyranees, 12% Australian Cattle Dog, 11% German Shepherd, 9% Anatolian Shepherd, and 8% Labrador Retriever. His name is Native American for 'brave and courageous warrior' and he is exactly that! Nakoa was rescued by our friends at Perry's Promise after her showed up with an injured leg that had a wound on his foot with exposed bone. He had total nerve damage and needed a full amputation. He spent several weeks in a foster home to recover from surgery but is now at the shelter enjoying his time with the other office dogs Almond Joy, Zyla, and Skyy. Here is what Nakoa has to say about himself:)Hi! I'm Nakoa!I am the cutest tripod you'll ever meet! The first year of my life has been rough so along with my tripod status, I'm still learning how to be a dog. I'm still pretty nervous around humans, but after weeks in a foster home and hanging out at PPC I'm relaxing. I have learned lots but I've still got lots more to learn!I had to learn how to walk again and I wasn't very motivated to move around much after my surgery, but once I met other dogs, I decided keeping up with them was worth moving around for. Other dogs have helped me open up and made me less nervous about being left alone, and my foster mom thinks a forever home with another dog or dogs would be perfect for me. I learned I like toys but I’m still not sure how to use them. I can entertain myself well with Kong-type toys or chew bones and I like to toss balls and stuffies to myself, but I haven’t figured out how to chase after a toy if it’s thrown for me. I think with some practice though I’ll get the hang of it.I’ve learned what furniture is and I like it because it means I can lay with my human. The big bed is my favorite. I didn't know about all the sounds human toys make, and I’ve gotten used to lots of them, but I will probably still come across new sounds that make me jumpy. I prefer the vacuum over the dishwasher.I’ve learned one of my favorite things to do is play in the yard! I like running after you, then I’ll slide through the yard on my tummy before I flop over and roll around on my back. And I know I LOVE love! Once I got used to my foster mom I would lay my head on her hand when I wanted pets. I liked rubbing my head on her while she laughed at my goofiness, and laying together in the big bed was lots of fun. I’ve come a long way with house training and I need more exposure to walking on a leash. I’ve also been working on my separation anxiety and hanging out at PPC has helped me lots.I have learned lots but I've still got lots more to learn! The amount of progress I've made is impressive, but I need a family that understands a new environment will make me reserved and timid at first. I need a family to have patience and give me time to show them what a loving and playful pup I will be once I know they're my family.    The adoption fee is $135 which includes a free veterinary exam within 2 weeks of adoption at local participating vets, up to date vaccinations, test for heartworms & heartworm preventative medication, dewormer, flea preventative, microchip, & spay or neuter. We're open Wednesday - Sunday 12 - 5 p.m but doing adoptions and meet & greets by appointment only.  If you are seriously interested in adopting please fill our our online application here: https://bit.ly/3HN4Tqq Check out our website at https://www.petplacementcenter.com/    February 10, 2025, 8:52 am

Story
Meet Maggie, a bright, affectionate, and eager-to-please young rescue dog who is ready to find her forever family. Just over a year old and weighing 65 pounds, Maggie is the perfect blend of youthful energy and eager intelligence. From the moment she arrived in her foster home, she impressed everyone with how quickly she learns. She already knows commands like sit, off, and leave it, and she loves showing off her skills for praise or treats. Maggie is also wonderfully adaptable. She took to using the doggie door within minutes, proving just how sharp and intuitive she is. Whether she’s exploring the yard, relaxing inside, or settling into her crate for rest time, Maggie handles transitions with ease and appreciates having predictable routines she can rely on. Social and gentle, Maggie gets along well with other dogs and enjoys having canine friends to play and interact with. She thrives in an environment where she can continue learning, bonding, and picking up new commands—training with her is not only easy but genuinely enjoyable thanks to how quickly she understands what’s being asked of her. Maggie does experience anxiety when left alone in the house, so she needs to be crated for her safety and comfort when unsupervised. She also becomes anxious during car rides, so at this time she is available only within Texas to avoid long transports that could overwhelm her. Maggie is a loving, intelligent companion who will blossom with a patient, committed family. She’s ready to bring joy, devotion, and her sweet spirit to a home that understands her needs and celebrates her wonderful strengths. Maggie is currently being fostered in a loving home in Seguin, TX, where she’s gaining confidence and practicing her manners every day. She can scale a short fence so a 6 foot fence or higher is recommended. To see more pictures and videos, copy and paste this link. To apply directly for Maggie click the "Apply for Adoption" button. https://www.shelterluv.com/embed/animal/FODS-A-779 All our dogs come with 30 days of free post-adoption support through Petcademy.org. Story
Huck (Certified Gentle Giant & Retired Linebacker) 🐾💙 What do you even say about Huck? This guy is a diamond in the rough and then some. He’s been in rescue since 2018 (came to us in November 2025 from another rescue), which is honestly criminal because he is pure gold. Huck is about 9 years old, absolutely gorgeous, and… enormous. And no, that’s not an exaggeration. This man is basically a horse. If someone showed up with a saddle, we’d have questions — but also maybe it would work. He’s strong as an ox and hasn’t quite figured out that when he comes at you at 80 mph, he can’t stop on a dime. That means you might receive some enthusiastic love bruises (affectionately known as “Huck body punches”). Totally worth it. Huck has the sweetest face and a heart just as big as his body. He LOVES playing ball — though returning it is optional in his mind. He prefers a system where everyone gets their steps in, so yes… you’re going to work for it. He also loves jumping up for hugs and going on long sniff-filled walks, taking in all the important neighborhood gossip. Fun fact: before we picked him up, Huck was sprayed by a skunk. And whewwwww… he gives it a solid 10/10 do NOT recommend. Thankfully, the smell has finally faded, and the lesson has been learned. He is completely house trained, incredibly loyal, and very protective of the people he loves. Huck would make an amazing family dog and is the kind of guy who will happily alert you when someone comes up the driveway — free security system included. This sweet old man does not deserve to spend his entire life in rescue. He deserves a couch, a yard, and a family who sees how special he is. 📍 Located in Cleveland, TN 🚗 Transport available to other states 💲 Adoption fee: $100 If you’re looking for a big-hearted, big-bodied, endlessly lovable companion — Huck is ready to finally go home. 🐶💕

Story
🐾❤️ Meet Harley ❤️🐾 This big, goofy dog is ready to steal your heart (and maybe your spot on the couch too 😉). Harley came into rescue in April 2025 after being owner surrendered with his buddy Jethro. Now, he’s hoping his forever family is right around the corner. Harley is a 2 year old Treeing Walker Coonhound/Anatolian Shepherd mix who’s already fully vetted ✅. At 77 lbs, he’s definitely a big guy — but don’t tell him that, because he’s convinced he’s a lap dog 🥹💙. He’s dog friendly and absolutely loves to romp and play with other pups 🐕💨. He hasn’t been tested with cats yet (but we can check if needed). Harley is also kid friendly, though because of his size and playful energy, he’d do best in a home with older children. Harley is a sweetheart through and through — silly, loving, and always ready to play. He might be strong on the leash (sometimes he forgets he’s not a featherweight 😅), but with a little consistency, he’ll be the perfect adventure buddy. Whether it’s running around with doggy friends, going for walks, or snuggling up with his people, Harley just wants to love and be loved. 🐾💕 📍 Located in Cleveland, TN 🚗 Transport available to other states 💰 Adoption fee: $150 ✨ If you’re looking for a big-hearted, goofy, lovable boy who will fill your home with laughter and love, Harley’s your guy! 🏡❤️🐾

Story
🐾 Meet Preston! 🐾 Preston is a handsome 2-year-old German Shepherd–Husky mix who’s ready for a brand new start! 💙 He’s fully vetted and looking for either his forever home or a foster to love him while he waits. Preston came to us from animal control, where he was listed as rescue only due to “behavior concerns.” After being evaluated by our K9 trainer, we quickly learned he’s an absolute sweetheart — no issues at all! 🥰 💔 His story: Preston and a small dog were abandoned in an apartment after their owner moved out. No one knew they were there for several weeks until the landlord came to check. It’s truly a miracle they survived. He’s still putting on a little weight, but his heart is as big as ever. Preston is a gentle, affectionate boy who bonds very quickly with his person. He loves people and enjoys being around dogs of all sizes. He’s not a rough-and-tumble player — he’s more of a “hangout and chill” kind of guy. 🐶 And true to his Husky side… he’s a big talker! 🗣️ Preston loves to “chat” and always has something to say — you’ll never be lonely with him around! We’re not sure how he is with cats 🐱, but he’d do best with older kids since he’s a big boy who loves to jump up and give hugs. 🤗 ✨ Quick Facts: 📍 Located in Cleveland, Tennessee 🚐 Transport available to approved adopters in other states 💵 Adoption fee: $150 If you can open your heart and home to this amazing boy — even as a foster — please reach out! Preston truly deserves the love and comfort he was once denied. 💕
