Story
Please contact Adoptions (adoptions@thalppc.com) for more information about this pet. Nakoa is a 1 year old true mix that weighs 46 pounds. We did a DNA test through Wisdom Panel and were completely suprised at his results. He is 25% Great Pyranees, 12% Australian Cattle Dog, 11% German Shepherd, 9% Anatolian Shepherd, and 8% Labrador Retriever. His name is Native American for 'brave and courageous warrior' and he is exactly that! Nakoa was rescued by our friends at Perry's Promise after her showed up with an injured leg that had a wound on his foot with exposed bone. He had total nerve damage and needed a full amputation. He spent several weeks in a foster home to recover from surgery but is now at the shelter enjoying his time with the other office dogs Almond Joy, Zyla, and Skyy. Here is what Nakoa has to say about himself:)Hi! I'm Nakoa!I am the cutest tripod you'll ever meet! The first year of my life has been rough so along with my tripod status, I'm still learning how to be a dog. I'm still pretty nervous around humans, but after weeks in a foster home and hanging out at PPC I'm relaxing. I have learned lots but I've still got lots more to learn!I had to learn how to walk again and I wasn't very motivated to move around much after my surgery, but once I met other dogs, I decided keeping up with them was worth moving around for. Other dogs have helped me open up and made me less nervous about being left alone, and my foster mom thinks a forever home with another dog or dogs would be perfect for me. I learned I like toys but I’m still not sure how to use them. I can entertain myself well with Kong-type toys or chew bones and I like to toss balls and stuffies to myself, but I haven’t figured out how to chase after a toy if it’s thrown for me. I think with some practice though I’ll get the hang of it.I’ve learned what furniture is and I like it because it means I can lay with my human. The big bed is my favorite. I didn't know about all the sounds human toys make, and I’ve gotten used to lots of them, but I will probably still come across new sounds that make me jumpy. I prefer the vacuum over the dishwasher.I’ve learned one of my favorite things to do is play in the yard! I like running after you, then I’ll slide through the yard on my tummy before I flop over and roll around on my back. And I know I LOVE love! Once I got used to my foster mom I would lay my head on her hand when I wanted pets. I liked rubbing my head on her while she laughed at my goofiness, and laying together in the big bed was lots of fun. I’ve come a long way with house training and I need more exposure to walking on a leash. I’ve also been working on my separation anxiety and hanging out at PPC has helped me lots.I have learned lots but I've still got lots more to learn! The amount of progress I've made is impressive, but I need a family that understands a new environment will make me reserved and timid at first. I need a family to have patience and give me time to show them what a loving and playful pup I will be once I know they're my family.    The adoption fee is $135 which includes a free veterinary exam within 2 weeks of adoption at local participating vets, up to date vaccinations, test for heartworms & heartworm preventative medication, dewormer, flea preventative, microchip, & spay or neuter. We're open Wednesday - Sunday 12 - 5 p.m but doing adoptions and meet & greets by appointment only.  If you are seriously interested in adopting please fill our our online application here: https://bit.ly/3HN4Tqq Check out our website at https://www.petplacementcenter.com/    January 30, 2026, 10:38 am

Story
Gizelle, from the Housewives litter, is a charming puppy who fully lives up to her namesake. She is sweet, gentle, and very people-focused, with a natural tendency to flirt her way right into your heart. More than anything, she wants to be close to her humans and will happily choose cuddles over just about anything else. While Gizelle does enjoy playing, she is not overly wild and quickly settles in for affection. She thrives on attention and connection, making her a lovely companion for someone who wants a puppy who is as loving as she is calm. To accommodate her breed’s penchant for wandering and her need for outdoor space, a securely fenced yard is a must for this growing girl. She would do best in a home where cuddles are always welcome, and people time is a priority. Currently in a foster home in Chattanooga, TN, and available for transport to a number of locations within the continental United States. Please note: We are unable to adopt to residents of Massachusetts at this time. To apply, complete our official adoption application at yourlocalfurmama.com/adoption-application. Petfinder inquiries are not considered applications. Once your application is received, a member of our Adoptions Team will contact you within 2–3 business days.
