COURTESY LISTINGThis dog is a courtesy listing (not in the AARF program) but we will be reviewing applications and helping the owner find the right home for Oreo. Please visit http://aarf-tn.com/adopt/adoption-app/ to apply. Meet Oreo, a handsome, happy-go-lucky 4-year-old, 70lb Great Pyrenees / Lab mix who brings the perfect blend of outdoor enthusiasm and indoor calm. Outside, Oreo loves to stretch his legs, run, play, and explore—whether he has playmates or is entertaining himself, a securely fenced in yard is a must for this big boy. Inside, he shifts gears into a much more relaxed companion who’s content to share the couch with you or another dog. He’s a big boy, so his joyful tail wags can be powerful, but they’re full of love. Oreo is a wonderful greeter and delights in welcoming you home with excitement and affection. He happily soaks up all the attention you’ll give and, if you let him, will gladly curl up beside you at night. He knows “no,” “down,” and “sit,” though sitting outside takes him a moment—he’s just so eager to enjoy the outdoors. He’s fully housetrained and crate-friendly, especially if he’s offered a chew toy; once he’s settled in, he naps contentedly. This lovable giant gets along beautifully with visitors of all sizes and is respectful of cats—he’s quickly learned that claws mean business. While not a watchdog, he makes up for it with his friendly charm. Oreo does pull on the leash and can get excited about chasing cars, wildlife, or ATVs, so he’ll benefit from continued guidance/training and safe spaces to run. Car rides aren’t his favorite yet, but with a seatbelt strap and reassurance, he manages just fine. Oreo would thrive in a country setting, a home with property, or an active household that can give him room to play and enjoy life. He’s incredibly sweet and gentle at heart, but due to his size and enthusiasm, he’d do best in a home without small children or elderly individuals who could be knocked over accidentally. If you’re looking for a big, affectionate companion with a playful spirit and a loving soul, Oreo is ready to fill your home with joy, tail wags, and warm snuggles.    Interested in adopting? THIS PET IS FOSTERED IN TENNESSEE! We do list and adopt our pets nationwide. (All About Rescue and Fixin' Inc.) http://aarf-tn.com/ is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) no kill animal rescue organization located in the Upper Cumberland area of Tennessee. A.A.R.F. is comprised of unpaid volunteers and survives only on public donations. Thank you for thinking adoption first! Prior to adoption, all canines and felines are spayed or neutered, have received their age appropriate vaccinations, have been de-wormed for common parasites, and have received treatment for prevention of fleas and ticks. All canines over the age of 6 months have been tested for heartworm. All canines are put on heartworm prevention as soon as possible - this means dogs as soon as they are tested negative. Puppies are put on prevention immediately. All felines, regardless of age, have been tested for Feline Leukemia/FIV. Each animal receives a health check by a licensed veterinarian prior to adoption. Anything else found will be treated by our organization prior to adoption. December 5, 2025, 9:55 am

Story
Mac is a 4 year old (approximately) GP mix. Mac is the most loving and loyal dog and is protective of his people. He lives with a couple of semi-feral cats and considers them friends. His best friend is a female dog he hangs out with at doggy daycare. He LOVES doggy daycare, but there are a few pups there that he does not like. Mac can hold a grudge. He is pretty selective when it comes to other dogs. Mac loves toys and treats and getting brushed. He loves his veterinarian and his former trainer (he knows the basics, but like any GP he can be stubborn).Mac hates vegetables, school buses and getting his ears cleaned. He is definitely not a working dog. He is a snuggly couch potato. But, Mac is bored. His protective nature and leash reactivity make it a challenge for his people to walk him enough. He is currently the king of a very small castle (townhouse) and would be most happy with a fenced yard to patrol. He does take affordable meds daily for a well-controlled chronic gum issue.

Story
Meet Beryl aka Miss Bea (if you please!) aka Your Future Couch Potato & Loyal Sidekick! Miss Bea returned to us after one of our beloved Coordinators passed away unexpectedly. Miss Bea is about 8 years old, a Great Pyrenees mix (aka Fluff Queen), and about 65 lbs. of pure snuggle potential. Beryl is a sweet, senior lady who’s a bit shy at first - kind of like that one friend who takes a while to warm up but then becomes your ride-or-die. She’s excellent with cats, other dogs, older kids (12+), and she loves the outdoors… just not in a “let’s run a marathon” way. Miss Bea requires a fenced yard (she’s too dignified for leash zoomies), a person who works from home, is retired, or has a flexible schedule (she’s a low-maintenance roommate). Beryl’s Dream Home is quiet, calm, and full of love (she’s not a party animal), a human who doesn’t mind the “awkward phase” where she’s scared of men but quickly becomes a cuddle champion once she knows you, someone who needs a chill companion with a side of sass and pawing for attention. (Don’t worry, she won’t drag you down the street. Beryl’s all about relaxed walks.) She also needs someone who has the time to spoil her with attention and understands that trust takes time. She’s got a lot of love to give, but she’s not into the "speed dating" vibe - she prefers a slow, sweet burn to a lifelong friendship. If you are home more often than not and want a dog who’s more “chill vibes” than “chaos,” Beryl might just be your spirit animal. If you are interested in adopting this dog, please apply online, at https://bigfluffydogs.com/adopt/adoption-application/ then email Debbie@BigFluffyDogs.com. Our main website, www.bigfluffydogs.com has more information about us and the rescue process. NOTE TO EMAILERS FROM PETFINDER: WE DO NOT RESPOND TO EMAIL INQUIRIES WITHOUT AN APPLICATION. WE REGRET WE CANNOT RESPOND TO EVERY EMAIL, BUT UNLESS YOU FILL OUT AN APPLICATION, WE DO NOT KNOW YOU EXIST. All known information about an individual dog is provided in its listing. We do our best to provide accurate information, but adopters should understand that each home is different and the dog may behave differently in a new home. Dogs are creatures of their environment and you help make the dog what it will be. Homes considering adopting a puppy must be prepared for 1.) Flexible schedules for potty training. Puppies can only hold it for one hour per month of age (i.e. a 4-month-old puppy can only go 4 hours without a potty break). 2.) Crate training until the puppy is at least one year old to prevent chewing on inappropriate things when you can't supervise. 3.) Socialization. The more positive and varying experiences as a puppy the better, both in and out of your home. 4.) Puppy behavior and life stages are equivalent to a human toddler. It takes at least a full year to have a calmer, well-adjusted dog. Patience is required and when your dog's behavior is a positive experience for you and those around you, your patience will be rewarded ten-fold, for years to come. Please do not consider adopting a puppy if you have not thoroughly thought through the pros and cons of having one. So many people end up returning them after 3-5 months because they didn't realize the amount of work involved in raising a puppy. Patience, appropriate toys, socialization, and obedience training are all musts. All are time-consuming and can be expensive. All dogs require supervision with children and obedience training. Adopters that want to have good dogs must be prepared to put the time and effort into training a dog. Any dog requires work and effort, but a well trained, well-socialized dog is more than worth the effort to get them there.
