Story
Meet Perry – a shy, sweet soul. He’s a nervous boy who has already come such a long way since arriving in shelter. Although he’s still unsure of people and new situations, his progress is remarkable! He’s a really gentle and loving dog, even if it takes him a little while to show it. You should take the heart shaped mark on his head as a sign of the love he’s full of! At first Perry keeps his distance and prefers to retreat to a quiet corner when approached. He’s just being cautious, so don’t let that deter you! Over time he’s begun trusting people more and more and is slowly warming up to human contact. He’ll let you pet him now, though it does make him nervous. He also takes treats gently from your hand, though he tends to save them for later when he can enjoy them in peace. He’s still working on his leash skills, but just like his social skills he’s made progress! He’s curious about his surroundings and likes to sniff around. One thing that stands out about Perry is his love for familiar places, like his kennel. Once he sees it he’ll run straight inside, loving that he has a safe place to call his own. He’s learning to trust more each day, and with patience and understanding we know Perry will blossom into a loyal companion. Perry may be a bit of a work-in-progress, but he’s so worth it! If you’re willing to give him the time and space he needs he’ll reward you with all the love he can give. Shy dogs like Perry tend to fair far better in cozier home environments. He’s dreaming of the day he finds a foster or adopter to welcome him into their home! We’re sure he’d flourish.
