Junior Bear honestly looks like someone accidentally combined a sad old grandpa, a baby polar bear, and Sid from Ice Age into one dog and somehow… it works perfectly LOL. This poor guy was in rough shape when he was first found and looked more like a little naked mole rat than a fluffy Great Pyrenees mix, but watching him slowly transform has honestly been so special. His coat is already coming back in beautifully and while we can’t guarantee exactly how fluffy he’ll end up being, we can confidently say he is becoming cuter by the day. Between the permanently expressive facial expressions, the little tongue that sticks out of his mouth like he always has something important to say, and the shy gentle personality hiding underneath it all, Junior is one of those dogs that completely sneaks up on your heart. He is a rescue dog and with any rescue, it’s always a mystery and we cannot guarantee breed or age. What we CAN guarantee though is that this boy has one of the most unintentionally hilarious and lovable faces we’ve ever seen. His expressions are absolutely incredible. Truly the type of dog that makes you wish you could speak fluent dog because you KNOW he has thoughts and opinions constantly running through that little head LOL. Junior is a very sweet gentle soul, but he is definitely more of a slow burn with people and new environments. He needs a little time to settle in, observe, and realize he’s safe before fully opening up. The good news? Baby talking him absolutely works LOL. Seriously, tell him he’s handsome, speak softly to him, let him approach you on his own terms, and you can literally watch him start melting. Once he warms up, you start seeing those little glimpses of his inner puppy come out and honestly it’s adorable. He’ll start asking for affection, leaning into attention, and showing off this really sweet cuddly side that feels incredibly rewarding to earn. Junior is dog friendly and has done well with every dog we have introduced him to so far, including dogs much smaller than him. He has been very respectful, easygoing, and mostly aloof around other dogs overall. He’ll sniff, coexist peacefully, let dogs sniff him, and then usually go right back to minding his own business. He’s definitely more of a “quiet peaceful coexistence” type than a built-in wrestling buddy. There were a few moments where he followed another dog around the yard curiously, but overall he seems happiest simply existing nearby rather than actively engaging in play. Because of that, we think he would do best with lower to medium energy respectful dogs that will give him space to acclimate naturally and won’t overwhelm him socially. He has also been around small dogs multiple times and did wonderfully with them. Junior also met our house cat Biggie and met him appropriately and was very respectful around him. He did not chase Biggie, nor was he bothered by Biggie jumping or doing what cats do. Biggie also seemed to feel comfortable around him as well. We do not know if he has ever lived in a home before with a cat and this was our first time seeing him with a cat. If you have a cat in the home, we can arrange for Junior to have a sleepover with a cat upon request. Just let us know! Junior walks very easily on leash and honestly has the cutest little old man stroll ever. He likes to casually meander along at his own pace and seems to do best when allowed to lead the walk a little bit himself. Too much leash pressure tends to overwhelm him and then he frozen like a statue. Less pressure and more patience is really the key with him. He likes calm energy and slow introductions to things. Junior needs someone patient, understanding, and willing to go slow while trust is being built. Especially in the beginning, he can become uncomfortable with too much touch too quickly. However, when approached calmly and respectfully, he has continued showing that he is capable of building trust beautifully. Junior truly feels like a dog that just needs someone willing to meet him where he’s at emotionally instead of forcing him into situations before he’s ready. Despite his quirks, Junior is honestly a very easy low-energy dog overall. He is crate trained, quiet in the home, and would be perfectly content living a slower paced lifestyle filled with comfy naps, quiet companionship, sniffing around the yard, and peaceful walks. He could potentially do okay in a quieter apartment, townhome, duplex, or condo setting, but we really think having access to some kind of small yard would help him settle in more comfortably while building confidence with his new person. Once he feels safe, he truly is such a sweet quirky little gentleman with so much love underneath all the nervousness. Junior is not the type of dog that’s immediately going to run into your arms and act like your best friend on day one. He’s the type of dog where the connection builds slowly and then suddenly one day you realize this weird adorable little creature completely stole your heart. And honestly? Buddy feels like the kind of dog who should come with a porch, a couple acres, and a standing invitation to be included in absolutely everything. Big ol’ smoosh-face energy, giant-hearted best friend, enthusiastic walking buddy, couch snuggler, toy collector, daycare socialite… he somehow manages to be both a “let’s go do stuff!” dog and a “perfectly content melting into the couch beside you” dog all at once. At just about a year old and already 87 lbs, Buddy is a young dog with growing and learning still to do, but what shines through immediately is just how social, affectionate, and genuinely good-natured he is. Rescue rules apply, so breed and age are our best guess, but we suspect some Anatolian/Pyrenees/Lab type magic in the mix. After a thoughtful introduction period, he now spends his days playing, lounging, sharing space, and generally enjoying life alongside his dog friends. He has also attended daycare with dogs of all sizes and continues to show himself to be social, playful, and appropriately communicative with other dogs. One of the things we really loved seeing during our time with him outside of his foster home was how nicely he reads the room with other dogs. He enjoys play, absolutely, but he also takes breaks, respects dogs that are not interested, and recovers quickly from moments of stress without overreacting. People? Buddy thinks people are excellent. He was loving and confident with everyone he met, happily accepted handling, rolled over for affection, and handled new environments, noises, and activity with an easygoing attitude. When we spent the afternoon with him he was surrounded by new people and he soaked up attention from strangers like it was his full-time job. He especially gives off that “big friendly dog at the brewery patio hoping someone shares fries” kind of charm. His foster lovingly calls him “Smoosh Face” because one of his favorite activities is snuggling up on the couch beside his people. Despite his size and playful side, he settles beautifully in the home. He enjoys chew toys, rotates through the toy basket, happily entertains himself, and is very capable of winding down after exercise or play. His foster describes him as smart, eager, and quick to learn, and he already kennels on command at home. He rides well in the car too, calmly hopping in and relaxing for the trip. Now, Buddy is still a young, large dog, and occasionally that youthful enthusiasm shows up in the form of “I would very much like to play RIGHT NOW.” His foster notes that he can sometimes be a little slow to pick up on their older dog’s “leave me alone” signals, not in a concerning way, just in that lovable young-dog way where the brain occasionally takes a second to catch up to the body. Overall though, his social skills are genuinely very nice. Buddy would thrive with an adopter who understands large breed dogs and has room in both their home and lifestyle for a young dog who still needs continued guidance and structure. What we are seeing right now is a well-socialized, stable young dog, with likely livestock guardian genetics, so adopters should be thoughtful of this as he matures. Right now he is wonderfully social and easygoing, and continued positive exposure, leadership, and appropriate boundaries will help him continue growing into the best version of himself. He could potentially live in a larger apartment with an active adopter committed to daily outings and exercise, but truthfully, Buddy would probably be happiest with space to stretch his legs, a yard to roam, and people who enjoy including their dog in everyday life. He has done well around cats in controlled settings, though we would recommend dog-savvy cats and thoughtful introductions. Older kids or teens would likely be a lovely fit given his size and youthful enthusiasm. His foster family cannot say it with more heart when they share how wonderfully he has blossomed into a deeply affectionate, social, happy dog who clearly loves being part of a family. There is something really special about a rescued street dog who chooses trust again so fully. HAWAII anyone?? I mean, VACATION anyone?? We are the Hawaii girls and we would LOVE to give you a private tour of the most dynamic group of islands in the world!! So do you like pineapple and SPAM?? FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME NEEDED Meet Rosa! Rosa is an almost 2-year-old, 60 lb Pyrenees mix who came to us from an overcrowded shelter in CA and is ready for a fresh start! True to her Pyrenees roots, Rosa is sweet, gentle, and a bit in her own world at times. She enjoys going on walks and adventures with her people, walks well on leash, and is treat-motivated. She has a gorgeous, big fluffy coat with striking silver along her back that makes her stand out just as much as her calm presence. Rosa is currently dealing with some leash reactivity, which we believe is largely due to stress from the kennel environment. She will need slow, thoughtful introductions to other dogs, time to decompress, and a consistent routine to help her feel safe and settled. A home with a yard and a quieter, more predictable lifestyle would be ideal for her. She would also do best in a home without cats I could potentially do okay with children 12+. With patience, structure, and a calm environment, Rosa has all the makings of a wonderful, loyal companion. She’s looking for a home that understands her needs and will give her the peaceful life she deserves. Rosa is UTD on vaccinations, microchipped, and spayed. Her adoption fee is $450.

Katya has been a very sweet girl in her current caregiver’s home and farm. She likes people she meets. Note: she has had no experience with young children. She lives with other dogs and, in that situation, is considered a lower member when it comes to pack dynamics. She has been good with horses and mule livestock. At this time, she is NOT free-range chicken approved. She has been easy to bathe and groom. When she doesn't like you brushing or something, she'll just gently take your hand in her mouth. That is a very normal GP reaction. Since she is a Great Pyrenees, she barks when outside and can hear, smell, or sense change or predators, as this is a livestock guardians’ job. Like all great Pyrenees, she will dig holes and has dug under fences. This is a thing for many GP. They are an amazing breed but require a bit higher-level dog skills and involvement that create kind pack leadership. Most dogs require a fenced yard. We seek fully fenced yards with a physical, visible fence. Typically, the fence must be connected to the house/ a door in the home, and the dog safe fenced area must exclude driveway and car access. Shock/electronic fences will not be approved for most dogs. A sturdy, high quality crate is also required (due to safety concerns, no wire or soft crates will be accepted. Impact, Ruffland, 4 point contact locking door Skyline, Zinger Winger, etc type crate). We will be considering homes in W. Wa and possibly Oregon, no other out of state adoptions at this time.
