Story
Shay (also known as Shady or Slim Shady) is an affectionate 4.5 year old boy who loves hanging out with people. He has become a proficient lounger, equally happy chilling in his crate (where he still likes to take his meals) a dog bed, or even the floor. He loves going for a walk and being outside. He will stop and stare at squirrels and rabbits but doesn’t give chase. You just have to encourage him to move on. He’s very chill around other dogs - whether big or small. Fine to leave him out of the crate and he is very happy when we come home. Shay is not cat workable.

Story
Tommy's Legacy (we call him Tommy) is a gentle, very sweet boy. He loves people, and manages to make everyone love him. Tommy also gets along well with our greyhound Goldie, as well as many of the other dogs he has met on our walks. He has a playful side and loves his toys. He will throw them into the air and chase them, completely entertaining himself and making us laugh. He also gets very excited for his walks, and does beautifully on a leash. Tommy goes for long walks in the woods and is very curious with the many scents and sights. He does not seem overly interested in the small critters, so does not pull aggressively on leash. He also sleeps all night in his crate without a peep. Tommy is the BEST boy and everyone that meets him (we are a greyhound family) either wants to keep him, and all agree he is going to make someone very happy. He listens well and really does his best to please.

Story
Patty is a very sweet 2 year, 9 month old female from the UK. She is fully house trained and lets her foster folks know when she needs to go out. She has come a long way since entering her foster home a month ago. Although she was initially stand-offish when new people entered her space, she now cautiously approaches them for sniffs, pats and attention. She regularly seeks out snuggles from her foster folks. She loves doing zoomies in the fenced yard and is starting to engage with toys. She loves walks but has a couple quirks she is working through like walking past strangers and parked cars on the street. (But she's improving!!!) She loves her crate and sleeps in it quietly through the night. She gets a long well with the resident greyhound and would do well in a quiet home with older children as high energy youngsters cause her to hide. Patty would do well in a home with a confident dog to show her the ropes. She seems to be cat workable.

Bluey is an energetic, curious 6-1/2 year old blue (grey) male from Australia. He loves people and his favorite activity is going on walks so he can see what's going on outside and look for squirrels and bunnies. He has a high prey drive and is not cat workable. Bluey would love an active home where he gets plenty of walks and stimulation. He does settle down fine in the crate and is a good eater. He is also a fan of squeaky toys.

Story
Meet Sampson! 🐾💛 Born in May 2023, Sampson is the bigger brother at 95 pounds — a sweet, gentle giant with the softest heart. Just like his brother, he’s fully vetted and even passed his temperament test with the Veteran Association, showing just how smart and steady he is. Sampson can be a little shy at first, especially about car rides (he may need a boost in), but once he’s settled, he rides just fine. He’s a playful boy who loves to run, splash around, and has the most adorable habit of blowing bubbles in the water! With his floppy ears and soulful eyes, he’s as handsome as he is lovable. This sweet guy deserves a family who will cherish him, give him room to stretch his legs, and let his affectionate personality shine. Could Sampson be the one to fill your home with joy?

Story
Meet Tiki! 🐾💙 Born in May 2023, Tiki had a rough start — he and his litter were dumped with their mom, umbilical cords still attached. His whole family has since been adopted, except for Tiki and his brother. Now it’s his turn to find a forever home! Tiki is fully vetted and even passed his temperament test with the Veteran Association. He’s wonderful with other dogs and children, making him an all-around good boy. This big, handsome 72-pound sweetheart has one very adorable quirk: he loves to carry things in his mouth — sticks, water bottles, rocks, balls — whatever treasure he finds, he proudly brings it to you as a gift. He’s also a huge fan of water and would love a family who enjoys outdoor adventures. Car rides aren’t his favorite at first (he sometimes needs a boost in), but once he’s in, he rides like a champ. Tiki is ready for a home where he can be loved, spoiled, and appreciated for the gentle, goofy, water-loving gift-giver he is. Could that be you?

Meet Stevie Wonder! 🎶💙 We think he is a one-year-old Italian Greyhound–Miniature Pinscher mix, but we aren't really sure, so we just call him our Texas Special! This gorgous 12 pound boy is striking with his merle coat and mesmerizing ice-blue eyes. Stevie turns heads everywhere he goes — but it’s his heart that truly shines. Stevie Wonder is deaf but is does not slow him down. He is an absolute sweetheart who loves nothing more than affection and connection. He melts when you rub his face and will happily return the favor with gentle, enthusiastic kisses. His loving nature makes him the perfect little companion for anyone looking for a loyal snuggle buddy. Don’t let his delicate frame fool you — Stevie gets along beautifully with dogs of all sizes! Our on-site trainers support the positive growth of our dogs and we enjoy seeing their progress!    Our commitment to comprehensive medical care sets us apart. We've received glowing feedback from veterinarians who commend our dedication to ensuring the health and well-being of every animal in our care with treatments that often go above and beyond.   Our adoption fees reflect the extensive care and resources that go into each animal we save. The adoption fee is a donation to the mission and goes far beyond getting a fully vetted pet.    The rescue’s hard costs alone (excluding transport) for a healthy dog to go through our program typically range between $412 to $859, which includes boarding, food, medications, vaccines, and spay/neuter. For heartworm-positive dogs, hard costs are upwards of $1,368. Additionally, dogs requiring extended boarding, extra training, or extra medical care—such as dental work, vision care, or orthopedic care—can lead to expenses running into the thousands. Also, included in the adoption fee are costs to cover transport up to the Pacific Northwest or East Coast. Transport is a significant additional expense to the rescue.  While adoption fees help cover part of these expenses, we want to emphasize that the rescue does not receive government funding and must fundraise to offset the remaining expense balance which ranges $100-1,000++ per animal on these direct costs.   It doesn’t stop there! Our adopters also receive these SPECIAL PERKS:   Extensive behavioral testing and information from trainers on our staff to ensure the perfect fit for your family  Discounts on Embark DNA test kit- $30 off of Breed ID test & $50 off of Breed ID plus Health test 30 day trial of pet insurance with Trupanion A free private online dog training session with GoodPup, plus low pricing for future sessions  70% off of your first order of Fetch, a delicious PNW based fresh dog meatballs subscription Coupons for a fun visit to Petco 20% off of Dr. Cuddles pet first aid and hygiene solutions Discounted heartworm, flea prevention, and monthly dewormer  Access to our exclusive FB Adopters page, where you can network for play dates, resources, and connect with other adopters that share their passion for their adopted pup!   Did you know that the Greater Houston area faces some of the highest stray and overpopulation rates in the nation? Our goal is simple— to reduce the homeless pet population through community outreach, free spay and neuter services, and by rescuing animals from the streets or overcrowded shelters where euthanasia due to lack of space is often the only option.
