Jason is a handsome boy who came to us as a stray. We do not know much about him other than he is a great escape artist. He will need a home where his family is home the majority of the time. He loves to be with his humans and gets upset when he cannot be with them. Jason has done well with our house cats. Story
Rubble here: Hi! I am new to the retirement kennel here with ALP and I want to tell you about myself. I am four years old and was born in May 2021. I am not sure what day exactly, they didn't tell me... so I will have to ask and let you know later. My best personality trait is that I am a tail wagging boy. My tail just keeps going all the time! I just can't help it, but they tell me that people will think that is endearing so it’s a good thing. I am happy and it just comes out in my tail I guess. There are so many things to learn here. I’m already liking some toys, but I kind of have a short attention span because everything is so new so I don't have a favorite yet. I am very busy! I have to investigate everything. They tell me I am handsome with my unique chest and neck markings. They tell me it is unique and makes me more handsome! I am working on getting used to a routine and becoming better at walking on a leash as I can pull a lot. I just have to get to where I am going as fast as I can. I am learning that getting loved on is a good thing and I will get more love if I stand still for a bit. I’ m smart so I will get better and better every day. I will need a fenced in yard so I can run and play and get my sunbathing in. We do adopt to approved families in surrounding states. I am neutered, Heartworm negative, and microchipped. Story
Marshall here: I am brand new at the retirement kennel and I am getting used to everything here. They say I am a very busy boy and I guess that is true. I like to do zoomies all around the play yard and check everything out. I am not sure what these things are that they keep throwing for me. I guess I am supposed to do something called "play" with them but I have not discovered what that is yet. There are so many things to learn, besides play, like listening and walking nicely on a leash and paying attention to the humans around me. I am not a fan of the leash and I need to learn how to quit pulling like I do. They say I just need to settle into the routine so they can get to know me better. ***I will need a fenced in yard so I can run and play and get my sunbathing in. We do adopt to approved families in surrounding states. I am neutered, Heartworm negative, and microchipped. AmericanLurcherProject@gmail.com. Story
This handsome black boy does have the best acrobatic tail and fabulous ears that pretty much communicate his enthusiasm and/or his relaxed demeanor. Smokee turned five years young in January and weighs 62 pounds. He's a patient guy ready to de-stuff a stuffie in his own yard asap! He is does well at meeting other dogs near his size. He is not workable with cats or most likely with small fluffy dogs. Smokee just needs that person who loves a silly, fun guy to give him his forever bed. Pretty sure this boy will go with any "flow" that you want! He loves meeting all humans. He is particularly fond of and balls and is good meeting other dogs his size. He has a zest for life and is very curious about everything he sees. He will make a wonderful pet. Smokee is neutered, heartworm negative, and microchipped. Please email the americanlurcherproject@gmail.com for more information on this sweet boy. Smokee needs a fenced in yard so he can play and enjoy running. No kitties for this boy. Please email: AmericanLurcherProject@gmail.com for more information. The ALP adopts to approved families in surrounding states.

Story
Looking for a walking buddty? Hi! My name is Redford and I wanted to tell you a little bit about myself. I was born as an only child in June of 2023 which means I am 2 1/2 years old. I am a very sweet and fun loving guy. I love to play with toys and found out that the plastic bag I stole when they were photographing me was a very fun thing to grab and play with. I kept darting back and forth to keep it away from them, but then somebody threw my next favorite toy and off I was to grab it. I think they tricked me! I was a field trial racer but I decided I only needed to run part of the race and then go back to my handler. I guess that is not what I was supposed to do. I am fast and I love to play but just didn't want to race so I retired early at just two years old. My best qualities besides my great personality and my very nice leash walking skills are by dark brown eyes and striking reddish gold coat. I am a very friendly and happy boy. I like to come up to you and lean on you for a few seconds and get some love then I am off to play with my toys. They kept telling me how handsome I am and I liked that. What do you think? My only vice that I can see is that I think cats are evil and cannot be around them. I guess that's not uncommon in Greyhound Lurchers though. ***Redford needs a fenced in yard***. No small dogs or cats for this boy. Redford has a sweet, relaxed personality, and thoughtfully greets everyone. He patiently waits to be leashed, and is a very polite walking buddy. Story
Meet Peter! Breed: Greyhound mix Age: 2 years Weight: 50 lbs Size: Medium-Large (but his heart? XXL) Gender: Male Energy Level: Medium Bonded Pair: Must be adopted with his sister and best friend, Meg Peter is a gentle, affectionate, and goofy boy who has been through a lot and still radiates sweetness. Peter and Meg were part of an unplanned litter in rural Ohio. While their littermates found homes early on, Peter and Meg were left behind. They ended up in a shelter as young pups and stayed there until January 2025. Growing up in a shelter was tough, but it never dimmed Peter’s sweet spirit. Peter and Meg have spent every single day of their lives together and share a truly special bond. They love to play, cuddle, and look out for each other. When Peter suffered a fractured tibia, Meg took on the role of Florence Nightingale, bringing him food, staying close, and always making sure he was okay. That love goes both ways. Peter’s surgery was in March, and he’s now fully healed with no restrictions. He and Meg are having an absolute BLAST zooming around the yard together.  Peter’s Personality: Nicknamed Sweetie Petey Pie, Peter is the definition of a lovebug. He adores belly rubs, snuggles, and being close to his people. He’s a little calmer and less energetic than Meg, but don’t be fooled, he can absolutely keep up when it’s time to play. Peter is curious and goofy, but not quite as confident as Meg. He is a bit nervous and apprehensive in new environments. While having Meg by his side helps to give him the reassurance he needs, Peter and Meg will need an understanding adopter who will allow Peter time to settle in. Peter gives the cutest little “smile” when he’s content with soft eyes and a gentle smirk that will melt your heart and he is such a snuggle bug! Dog Friendly: Yes. Peter loves other dogs Cat Friendly: Unknown. Likely curious but we don't suspect he would harm the cat. Kid Friendly: Kids 10+ would be best. Peter is not at all aggressive, he is actually on the scared/timid side with younger kids. He hasn't quite figured them out and the chaos that accompanies small children can be a little stressful for him. Peter and Meg also have quite a bit of energy and can be jumpy when exicted.  Apartment Friendly: No Fence Requirement: A fenced yard is required. No electric fences.  Crate Trained: Yes Housebroken: Yes Ideal Home: Peter and Meg are loving life in foster care and discovering all the joys of home living. Comfy couches, walks, toys, and snuggles. Their ideal home is one where they can be included in daily life, whether it’s playtime in the yard, relaxing on the couch, or tagging along for an adventure. They enjoy each other’s company and can entertain themselves, but they also love to be with their humans and foster dog siblings. While they are happiest together, Peter and Meg do just fine with short separations, and their forever family should continue supporting some individual time so they don’t become overly dependent on each other. Peter Loves: Chest and belly rubs, being near his people, playing with Meg, going for walks, and exploring the backyard. Peter loves toys and treats. He is very food motivated and a quick learner! (especially if treats are involved with training!) Dislikes: Peter is serious about mealtime and knows when you're scooping his food. His ears perk up and he can hardly contain his excitement. He does not appreciate extended delays from scoop to serve! (Rude!)  Peter takes some time to adjust in new environments and will need an adopter who is patient and understanding of this. Once Peter is settled in and feels comfortable, you won't believe how much love he has to give. It's truly incredible!  Double the love, double the fun: Meg and Peter are ready to show you just how rewarding adopting a bonded pair can be! Adoption fee is $500 for Peter and Meg as a pair. Fee includes spay/neuter, microchip, age-appropriate vaccinations, deworming, flea/heartworm prevention, and heartworm testing (negative if over 6 months). Ready to meet your new best friends? Apply at rescuedohio.org to become an approved adopter. Once approved, we’ll schedule a meet-and-greet with this sweet and silly duo! ##2282122##
