Story
Chase is an affectionate, easygoing, treat-loving dog who is fully house-trained, well-behaved, and quiet. He almost never barks and is great with people and other pets. He's never met a stranger and has lived most of his life with another dog and a cat in the house. Chase is 13 years old but in good health. He still likes to go for walks (though slower ones these days), enjoys snuggling, and is always excited to meet new humans. Chase is fully up to date on his vaccines. He is also a great house dog. He does not chew or scratch furniture and does not destroy items left around the house. He prefers his own chew toys and sleeps on his own bed. He does not climb on furniture and is well-mannered all around. He's probably the easiest house pet I've ever owned. If you adopt Chase, you'll have a devoted friend who will also like YOUR friends. I will supply a crate, dog beds, his favorite brand of food, and favorite chew toys to get you started.

Story
Meet Snoopy! This spunky gal is about 10 months old and approximately 25 pounds. She is still working on potty training. She is fantastic walking on a leash! Snoopy absolutely loves to play with other dogs of all sizes. She is an affectionate girl who gives kisses, too. She is great with kids and will run and chase them in the yard. Snoopy loves to play fetch and tug of war. She has met a couple cats and seems to be fine with them...a little scared of them even! We think she could live with them easily, especially if they are used to dogs already. The best home for Snoopy would have another playful dog and a fenced yard because she can ZOOM! She is a very talkative girl so an apartment or other home with shared walls is not suitable for her. Story
Hello!!! I am Autumn, but you might as well call me Goldilocks because I am searching for a family that is just right for me! I am very young, only about 7 months old. I came to BROOD 4 months ago because my owners said I was eating but not gaining any weight. Since I've been with BROOD, I'm gaining weight just fine, in fact, I've doubled in size! I will always be on the small side since I just wasn't getting the food I needed to grow up big but great things come in small packages.Let's go down my list of do's and don'ts for my forever home. I am non-stop active, constantly on the go, and only rest when I am sleeping. So, if you already have another dog in the home, they MUST be as active as me. I can't go to a home with cats as I chase them all the time trying to play and give them no rest. I'd do best in a home with another dog, but it has to be the right dog. A canine companion that will play as hard as I do but is also willing to show me the ropes and help me to socialize with other dogs and people.I would do best in a home with a fenced yard. Otherwise, you will need to walk me several times per day. My current foster home has a fenced yard and I am outside a lot playing. But they still need to take me on numerous walks per day, some short and some long, because I just want to, need to, go! I love kids, I really do. But as I am so speedy and active, children in the home need to be over 12.I have issues with resource guarding when it comes to other dogs. To explain a little, I haven't learned to trust yet that there will always be enough food, snacks, treats or bones for me. I can become very agitated when there are other dogs in my space and there are goodies to be had. I will need to be fed separately and have my humans watch me very closely with meals and munchies until I learn I can eat my fill. I don't have issues with separation anxiety, but I need a family that is going to be home a lot to be able to put in the time to train and teach me. It's been a difficult search for my perfect match. After all that, why should you adopt me? Well, I am house-trained and crate trained. And I am super smart and a quick learner. One of my foster homes had a door bell to ring to let them know I needed to go out. I learned how to ring the bell in no time flat! I am a sweet, sweet soul and love everyone as soon as I meet them. I am so funny and will keep you laughing. I'm great about bath time, nail trims and ear cleaning, no fussing from me. When I do finally take a break, I love to cuddle and will be your constant companion. I have so much love to give, I just need the right opportunity to really shine!!!So please look past my adorable face and beautiful eyes and see that I am a pup in need of some extra tender loving care and direction to grow into a faithful friend. Please contact BROOD today!!! My adoption fee is $400.00.**Only BROOD-approved adopters can meet a dog (no exceptions). Our adoption application is on the BROOD website at https://brood-va.org/adoptionapp/. We adopt to residents of Virginia, Maryland, West Virginia, DC, Delaware, and southern Pennsylvania. Do not apply to adopt from BROOD if you live in another state. We require a virtual home visit and a veterinary reference. The age of many BROOD dogs is unknown, as very few come with official records. The estimate on the dog's age is usually the initial estimate given by the receiving shelter, which may be different from that given at the time of the initial checkup. Different veterinarians may also give different ages, and those different opinions are sometimes reflected on the record. ***BROOD's adoption fees are determined based on the age of the dog. 05/01/2023
