Meet Boyd! Boyd is a 1 year old timid lover-boy. He may take a little while to warm up to new people. But he is as sweet as they come once he recognizes you're there to be his friend. He loves long walks and meat filled treat. Boyd is a big sniffer. We can while away the hours conferring with the flowers... and whatever else in on the ground to sniff. This is one brave pup. Even when afraid, he still remains kind and collected. Boyd is in need of a friend in which comfort and love can be passed both ways! Boyd is neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. You can meet him at CASPCA every day between the hours of 12PM and 6PM. For more information on Boyd, email us at adoptions@caspca.org.

Story
Penelope—affectionately known as Peepee—is a sweet but sassy little girl who has come a long way from her feral beginnings. She’s discovered the comforts of indoor life and has fully embraced them, especially when it comes to blankets. Penelope loves to curl up on the couch and will happily spend hours snuggled nearby. While she’s still learning to trust human touch, Penelope does best with patience and compassion. She prefers to lie close to her person rather than be petted, and she’ll let you know when she’s feeling overwhelmed. Her confidence continues to grow at her own pace, and with time, her comfort around people keeps improving. Penelope has a playful side too—she loves squeaky toys, though she’s a bit bashful about it. Don’t be surprised if you only hear her playing once you’ve left the room. She will make her opinions known, however. If her water bowl is empty, dinner is late, or another dog is misbehaving, her adorable grumbly barks will quickly get your attention. She’s making great progress learning to walk on a leash, but she’s just as happy sunbathing or quietly observing the world from a distance. Penelope will need continued support to become comfortable with grooming and vet visits. She has a lovely, gentle temperament and gets along well with dogs of all sizes and sexes—she currently lives with a pack of five Cane Corsos. Though shy around strangers, she does not bark or bite to communicate. And with her signature Dobby ears and panda eyes, Penelope has a way of stealing hearts without even trying. Penelope is looking for a calm, understanding home that will allow her to continue blossoming at her own pace. 💛

Story
At 11 years young, Bossman has perfected the art of being a distinguished gentleman. This sweet Beagle has a heart as soft as his floppy ears and a soul that radiates quiet devotion. His foster describes him in three words: gentle, snuggly, and endearing. Bossman is happiest curled up beside his people or his canine friends, soaking in the simple joy of being close. While he’s officially a senior, he still has a playful spark — especially when it comes to his beloved stuffies and chewies. (We all have our emotional support essentials. Those just happen to be his.) And let’s talk about his camera presence. The way Bossman looks at you — or straight into the lens — you’d swear he just worked a 9-to-5 and is covering the mortgage. The soulful eyes. The serious expression. The quiet “I’ve got responsibilities” energy. It’s both hilarious and impossibly charming. He’s wonderful with other dogs, enjoys a peaceful home environment, and has mastered the balance between short bursts of play and professional-level lounging. What he’s really searching for now is a soft place to land — a forever home where he can spend his golden years surrounded by love, comfort, and plenty of snuggles. Bossman has given the world 11 beautiful years. He’s ready for the best chapter yet!

Moped is crate trained, good with other dogs, and a total snuggle bug. He is a little self concious about a small benign tumor on his head, but he wants to assure you that it is completely harmless and just adds to his unique charm!

Belinda This little girl has been waiting long enough! Life didn’t start out kind for Belinda. Before she ever knew a gentle hand or a warm voice, she knew hunger, neglect and the loneliness of being over looked. Rescued from a hoarding situation, she arrived having never really experienced what it means to be loved- or noticed. But here’s the thing about Belinda: she showed up anyway. Quiet, watchful, and full of a cautious curiosity that hints at something wonderful waiting underneath the surface. She’s the kind of dog who won’t demand your attention- she’ll simply appear beside you, close enough to feel safe, watching you with those soft eyes as she slowly figures out that the world isn’t always as cold as the one she came from. She’s learning. Every single day, she’s learning. Other dogs? She’ll get there. New environments? Give her time. Trust? She’s already starting to find it. What Belinda needs right now is a quiet, patient foster who understands that healing isn’t linear. Who understands that progress looks different every day , and that sometimes the greatest gift you can give an animal is simply the freedom to feel safe without any pressure to perform. If you’ve loved a shy dog before- you understand the magic of earning that kind of trust- then you already know why Belinda is worth it. 4/21/26

Story
Meet Joey 💛 Joey didn’t grow up knowing the comforts of home. Left to survive on his own for years, he learned to be cautious — and for good reason. But Joey is proving that even after a hard start, growth is possible. In the last few months, we’ve watched him begin to open up. He’s curiously interested in people now, choosing to come closer, allowing gentle pets, and showing us that he wants to connect — he just needs a little time. Joey is around 35–40 lbs and estimated to be 6–8 years old. He finds confidence in other dogs and would do best with a calm, steady canine companion to help show him the ropes. Recently, Joey began an in-home board and train program where he’s gaining real experience living inside a home — learning routines, building trust, and discovering what it means to relax in a safe environment. We are so excited for this next chapter for him. But here’s what Joey will need next: When his training is complete, he will need a foster home to continue that progress. We do not want him returning to traditional boarding after he’s worked so hard to adjust to home life. Joey needs a patient, understanding foster willing to give him time, space, and consistency. A secure fenced yard would be ideal, and a confident resident dog would be a huge bonus. This sweet boy has already come so far. Now he just needs someone willing to help him keep going. Could you be the soft landing Joey is waiting for? 💛

Story
Beethoven is a 4-year-old Basset mix with a gentle soul and a heart full of quiet devotion. This sweet, mellow boy is happiest in a calm, familiar environment where he can relax and be close to his people. He is fully housetrained, rarely barks, and has wonderful house manners, making him an easy and comforting companion. While he may be a bit shy at first, a few treats and a little patience will quickly win him over.Beethoven is a true homebody who prefers cozy nights on the couch or sunbathing on the deck over busy outings or social gatherings. He enjoys leisurely walks, soft stuffed toys, and the occasional zoomie in the yard, but his favorite activity is simply being near his people. He gets along with calm, respectful dogs but would also be perfectly happy as an only dog in a peaceful home. Because he can be fearful of new people and overly energetic dogs, he does best with slow introductions and a low-key lifestyle and would be best in a home with calm, older children. This handsome boy is incredibly polite and well-mannered, happily sitting and waiting for his meals or treats and even catching snacks mid-air with impressive skill. He is crate trained, has great recall in the yard, and thrives with positive reinforcement and a consistent routine. Beethoven will need a home with a secure fenced yard where he feels safe and comfortable. He does have skin allergies that are easily managed with a daily oral medication. If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate companion who values quiet moments and deep bonds, Beethoven is ready to be your perfect match. Contact BROOD today to meet Beethoven! His adoption fee is $250.00.**Only BROOD-approved adopters can meet a dog (no exceptions). Story
Storm is a 4–5 month old Basset mix puppy who is equal parts cuddlebug and playful explorer. This sweet boy loves nothing more than curling up in your lap for a nap after a good play session. He has a gentle, calm puppy disposition and is wonderfully soft-mouthed, making him a joy to be around even during playtime. Storm is still a little timid in new situations, but he’s gaining confidence every day with the help of his foster family.Like any young puppy, Storm has lots of energy and curiosity. He loves romping around the yard with other dogs, following his nose wherever it leads—true to his Basset roots! Sticks are his favorite “toy,” and he’s happiest when he’s outside exploring or playing. While he’s still working on housetraining and building confidence, he’s already doing well with crate time overnight and comes when called in the yard.Storm is friendly, affectionate, and great with people, including children, thanks to his gentle nature. He can be a little shy at first and may piddle when meeting new people, but with patience and reassurance, he quickly warms up. He would thrive in a home that can continue building his confidence and provide plenty of love, structure, and positive experiences. With time and guidance, Storm is sure to grow into a loyal and loving companion.Storm will need to see a veterinary dental specialist due to an overbite later this summer, with an appointment planned in the Gaithersburg, MD area. BROOD will cover the cost of the initial consult and any recommended follow-up care from that visit. His adopter should be willing to continue with this plan to ensure Storm’s long-term health and well-being.Storm’s energy may live up to his name, but he is also the calm before the Storm when he’s snuggled with his family! His adoption fee is $250.00.**Only BROOD-approved adopters can meet a dog (no exceptions). Our adoption application is on the BROOD website at https://brood-va.org/adoptionapp/.
