Story
Luna is a sweet, loving 8 year old Havanese. She is still very energetic & playful & has many healthy years ahead. She is a companion pet 100% and just wants to be with her people all the time. We got her as a puppy and she has grown up alongside my kids, but life changes has led to this difficult decision.. Luna gets along well with all animals. Luna has no health issues, but does suffer from anxiety during storms/fireworks, but her current vet prescribes Trazodone for that & it works well. She is crate trained - I tell her go to bed & she goes. She’s potty trained also. She had a full dental cleaning a year ago. I can provide all vet the records I have. Luna had a vaccine reaction to her puppy shots so she is unvaccinated & her vet signs off on that.. I use family for pet sitting & I do not board or take Luna anywhere she would be at risk.. she’s a house dog. Luna will come with everything I have for her, including her crate. I just want her happy & loved.

Story
Hi! My name is Reena and I am Effie’s mom. We got Effie when she was a puppy as a Christmas present for my children. We have had a wonderful time raising her and building a new relationship with her. Unfortunately, within the past year there have been some new medical issues with my son that has made taking care of Effie very difficult. Effie is my 4th dog and I have never been in a position where I have had to find a new home for any of my pups. I want Effie to be in a loving home where she is pampered, played, and paid attention to. She is about to turn 2 and she is very active. I would prefer someone who will be able to take her on walks daily or have a fenced in back yard where she can play catch and run around. I am hoping to find a home that will give that to our sweet girl. Thank you for reading and I hope Effie is able to find a new home soon!

Story
McGuinness was found as a stray and hit the jackpot when he safely made his way to rescue. This wispy wooly fluff ball may or may not have any dachshund lineage - who can tell under all that floof?!? Whatever breed he is, this boy is one fabulous dog. He is friendly and doing well with house training (not 100% yet), but please give him a moment to settle in as he can be nervouse in new environments. He enjoys walks in peaceful parks but is not a fan of loud noises and cars speeding past. He likes to go and can be an escape artist zipping right past you at the door. Because of this, a fence is required. He is fine with other calm small dogs but also would be good as a solo canine cause he loves his people. He is not a fan of being left alone so someone who has time to share would be the best. Another element he is NOT a fan of his crate. He hates it! He would say he loathes it. Tee hee. This is something we are continuing to work on slowly with him, but also keeping him calm and happy is a priority for us as well. So if you are a SAHP, McGuinness may be just the guy for you. If you are interested in adopting McGuinness, you can fill out an application right on our website! Go to our online adoption application. McGuinness's adoption fee is $500. All adoption fees go directly to veterinary care for DREAM dachshunds. McGuinness will go to his / her new home microchipped, spayed/neutered, heartworm tested, up to date on vaccinations, and with all other medical needs addressed. Almost every dog's veterinary expenses exceed our adoption fees; we are a non-profit. DREAM is an all-volunteer rescue group. We focus on the metro Atlanta area and can assist throughout the state of Georgia. Since our rescue is entirely run and staffed by volunteers, our ability to travel long distances for adoptions is somewhat limited. We focus on Georgia, but if you are in a neighboring state, we might be able to work something out - we'll expect you to do your part. DREAM does not recommend purebred dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime.
