Story
Meet Pixie! She is a fluffy and cute 6 year old, 10-lb Havanese who loves hanging out and being independent. Her superpowers include being able to sprinkle her pixie dust of cuteness all through out the house. PIxie has a spunky personality and loves when her canine foster friends are around - she just can't wag her tail fast enough. She enjoys being around feline friends too. Pixie is still unsure of getting pets and does not tolerate being picked up, but she is warming up by sniffing her humans toes and wanting to be in the same room. She 100% loves being part of the family. Pixie is crate trained and sleeps in her crate every night. She is working on house training and will need a home with a securely fenced yard to assist her with this. She is low energy and a ball of joy. Some of her favorite things are eating treats, and watching TV with her foster family! Pixie is going to need a patient adopter who will allow her to learn to trust humans again. If your family wants to help this girl blossom and allow her to show all who she can be in this world, Pixie is the gal for you! Also, don't forget about her sprinkling her Pixie dust of cuteness on your heart! Her adoption fee is $300. To adopt this animal, please visit https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt All of our animals come spayed or neutered, fully up to date on vaccinations, including rabies (if age appropriate) and Bordetella, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services, and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals. For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the animal you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible. We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where animals can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LouiesLegacy for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting an animal in person. Not all animals attend every adoption event, please check our Facebook page for animal event times and locations before you make a trip to meet a specific animal.

Story
Meet Iona! Iona is a 6-year-old Havanese weighing 13lbs. Iona was rescued from an Amish puppy mill where she was used for breeding, and she is clearly traumatized from being in that environment for the first half of her life. She needs a patient and understanding adopter willing to help this adorable girl realize she is safe. Iona doesn't understand what it's like to 'dog' but is doing her best to learn. Her foster home has lots of dogs of all sizes/ages and they are trying to show her the way. She is slowly figuring out how to play with toys and is occasionally caught rolling in the grass. She will require a calm, quiet household that is willing to love her until she blossoms into the sweet girl that is right there under the surface. This resilient girl is on a journey to discover what it truly means to be loved. Ideally, her future family will have a fenced-in yard and another dog of similar size and energy to provide the support she needs to build her confidence. She sleeps through the night in her crate and is working on potty training. If you think you might be the patient adopter this precious girl is waiting for, please complete an adoption application online. Iona is fostered in the Cincinnati area and her adoption fee is $450.00. Story
Hello All...My name is Primrose but you can call me Prim or Rosie. More than likely, I won't come to either though because in my previous life I was a puppy mill Momma. MVPC came to my rescue and made me an honorary Pit Bull back in March when I was being retired. I am said to be a Havanese. The last few months I have been working on all kinds of things with my foster family - 2 leggers and 4! I am pretty okay with the 4 legged ones if they take things slow. I need a little while to warm up. I have improved a lot with certain people but still flinch when touched. I am learning that leashes are okay and not a torture device. I have been groomed and my fluffy hair is growing back. I am a work in progress and am improving daily. I have to tell you that I do have a condition called Vestibular Syndrome (this affects my balance). When I got to my foster family I was a mess. It was hard to figure out what was going on but we've got it under control now and I don't walk funky anymore! I take 1/2 of a Meclizine (non drowsy Dramamine) twice a day. It's not expensive at all! As a result of my past, I am super shy but I would love a confident dog to learn the ropes from. I think one day I would love to play and get all the lovins like the other dogs. Enough about me - I hope that wasn't too much! I promise I'm not a drama Queen, I just need some time. I hope to hear from you soon! 🐾Primrose PLEASE understand - I need to go to a home that understands and has experience with puppy mill dogs - no exceptions. I also need a patient family as it may take a while before I warm up to the idea of my new home and I likely will never quite be a "normal" pup. ADOPTION FEE: $250 (All MVPC dogs are heartworm-tested and on prevention, completely vetted, spayed/neutered, microchipped, crate-trained and house-trained) ADOPTER: Dog experience - MUST HAVE PUPPYMILL EXPERIENCE - NO EXCEPTIONS! BIRTHDAY: Est 3/23/19 FENCE: Required (an electric fence is not an acceptable form of containment) DOG FRIENDLY: Yes DOGS IN HOME: Another dog is required - Primrose is partial to a companion that is larger than her. CATS: Yes CHILDREN: No I AM READY TO GO HOME!! If you are approved to be my new family, a hold fee of $100 is required and will be applied to the full adoption fee of $250 when MVPC comes to visit your house with me! INQUIRIES: ALL inquiries begin with a submitted adoption application, which is found on our website, www.miamivalleypitcrew.com. We do not adopt to individuals under the age of 25. DO NOT: USE THE PETFINDER INQUIRY/CONTACT/ADOPT BUTTONS--we are unable to monitor those and you will not receive a response. PLEASE NOTE: We are volunteer based and a home visit is required; we have a two-hour adoption radius from Kettering, OH for our adult dogs and 75 miles for our puppies. Exceptions for our ADULT dogs only, though rare, may be made on a case-by-case basis but we must be able to do a home visit. Thank you for your understanding!
