Remy's Story PLEASE NOTE- AN APPLICATION FROM THE WEBSITE ALMOSTHOMEDOGS.ORG IS REQUIRED prior to any meet and greet. Calling, emailing or "inquiring" is not useful and will delay your consideration in the adoption of the dog. Remy is 8 years old and is a very friendly guy looking for a loving home. Remy greets everyone with a wagging tail and is always eager to make new friends whether they are people or dogs, making him a wonderful addition to any family. Remy absolutely loves going for walks and would thrive as a hiking partner or daily exercise buddy. He is housetrained and possibly just the perfect dog. A fenced yard would be ideal, as Remy loves to explore and sniff around off leash. He's happiest when he has room to roam safely. Remy is food motivated and enjoys treats, chewies, and veggies, making reward-based training a breeze. A cuddler and a lap dog once he is ready for his nap. Approximately 20 pounds The adoption fee is $450, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including age appropriate vaccinations, worming, flea/tick preventative, heartworm test if age appropriate and spay/neuter. All of our dogs will be microchipped. Because our dogs are in foster homes, applications are required prior to setting up any appointments. Calling or emailing may delay your consideration. Story
Somebody get me out of this old age home! That’s what Boomer is saying about his stay here. Boomer is a very healthy, playful, and active 11-year-old Havanese/Terrier mix. While the other dogs who live here are happy to nap the day away, Boomer loves to run and go for long walks. He really needs to find a great new home who can give him the time and exercise he would like. He is friendly with other dogs when outside but he can be quite territorial in the house. Therefore, we are looking for a home with no other animals. Boomer came to us after he was surrendered by his owner to the shelter. His owner said he didn’t like children, so adults-only homes please. During Boomer’s behavior test at the shelter, he showed signs of resource guarding for food and toys. We have worked with him on that but his new home must know how to continue this training. We are hoping to find the ideal home for Boomer. We learned that his previous owner was physically and verbally abusive to him. As a result, Boomer can be fearful at times. If he thinks he’s going to be scolded, he retreats to the sofa or a corner. He needs a new home that will be patient and loving with him, as well as knowledgeable on how to deal with his behavior challenges. If any force is used on him, he will try to protect himself. Boomer is smart. He knows how to sit, stay, and come, and also gives kisses on command. He really wants to be a loving, trusting dog. He has come a long way since he arrived here. Mariah was adopted January 2026! Mariah is a sweet, affectionate little dog with a charming personality that’s impossible not to love. One of her most endearing quirks is the way she pirouettes as she walks, clearly delighted by the world around her. Mariah thrives on companionship and would be happiest in a calm home where she can enjoy plenty of attention, cuddles, and quality time with her people. She has a nice balance of energy and enthusiasm, enjoys going for walks throughout the day, and will occasionally treat you to happy zoomies. Mariah comes when called, knows how to sit, and is eager to please—especially when treats are involved—making continued training very achievable. Housetraining has been a breeze when she’s taken out promptly after meals. She’ll also let you know when she needs a daytime potty break. Mariah tolerates being crated and is comfortable eating in her crate, though she prefers having free access to the main living areas of the home. Mariah is hypoallergenic and requires moderate, regular grooming to keep her coat healthy and comfortable. If you’re looking for a loving, devoted companion and can offer a calm, caring forever home, Mariah may be the perfect match for you. Please complete an application to meet her!
