Courtesy post: Meet Sunny! Sunny is an 8-year-old, 9-pound purebred Havanese with a big personality, an even bigger heart, and lots of energy. He's current on all vaccinations through October 2026, with his rabies vaccine valid through October 2028, and his recent veterinary exam confirmed he is in good health. Sunny has been with the same family since he was a puppy. He loves being outdoors, going for walks, soaking up the sunshine, belly rubs, cuddling, and following his favorite people around like a little shadow. Once he trusts you, he's incredibly affectionate, charming, and loves to snuggle. He's also a funny little clown who will keep you smiling. Sunny's challenges are not his fault. Due to limited socialization and changing circumstances as his elderly owner's health declined, he missed out on consistent training, exercise, and exposure to new people. He uses pee pads, has minimal obedience training, and can be vocal when he hears unfamiliar noises. Because he becomes fearful when overstimulated, especially around unfamiliar men or when being picked up while scared, Sunny has a bite history involving three incidents. The most recent resulted in puncture wounds to a family member's hands. For that reason, he needs an experienced, patient adopter who understands fearful dogs and is committed to positive reinforcement training and careful management. Sunny would thrive in a calm, predictable home with no children and ideally limited visitors. A quieter environment and an adopter who can help him build confidence will give him the best chance to succeed. While he has met another dog without issue, he has never lived with other animals, so a slow introduction would be important. Sunny is not a lost cause—far from it. He is intelligent, eager to bond, and adapts well in many situations. With patience, structure, and someone willing to see beyond his fear, Sunny has the potential to become an incredibly devoted companion. Looking for love? Javier (Javi), is a sweet 9 year old 14.4lb purebred Havanese who is hoping to find his new person to love. Javi enjoys living life at a slower pace. He dreams of a soft bed, a peaceful home, short walks, and a person who will love him. His favorite place is wherever his person is. He’ll happily follow you from room to room and curl up nearby.Javi is house and crate trained, does well on leash, and is incredibly loving. He can be a little anxious at times, so he’ll need someone patient who will give him time to feel safe and comfortable in his new home.Javi does have resource-guarding tendencies and may guard food, water, toys, his crate, or his person. So far, this behavior has only been observed around dogs and young children. Hi, I'm Max and I hail from Texas. Just to let you know, if you've ever heard the phrase "age is just a number", well, it is definitely true. While I am a senior gentleman, I am definitely medium energy and would enjoy a good long walk or two a day (or a nice yard to play in). I walk well on leash (except when I see another dog, I will pull hard), am housetrained, and don't mind my crate. In general, I am friendly with people once I get to know them, but on my own terms. I am not a fan of cats - I will bark and chase them. Btw, I am not a barker in general and my foster recently discovered that I I really enjoy watching TV! My ideal home would be with people who are willing to understand that I am set in my ways as a senior and want a loyal companion. I am leash reactive to other dogs, but possibly could get along with the right dog match. Rio is a sweet and very affectionate 3-year-old (best guess by animal control and vet) Havanese mix who weighs around 11 lbs. He acts younger than that though and loves to be around people. Rio is a smart boy, he’s learning how to sit, stay and shake. He’s very treat and praise motivated. Rio will use puppy pads, but we have not seen him going potty in the house other than a few times when he first got into his foster home. Rio currently sleeps in the bed and has had no accidents overnight when you take him out right before bed. Rio is neutered, fully vetted, heartworm negative, and microchipped.
