Story
Meet Marita, affectionately known as Rita by her foster family—a sweet, loyal little companion who is looking for someone to share life with every step of the way. Marita spent many years as a mama dog in a puppy mill and is now discovering what it means to be loved, safe, and part of a family. One thing is certain: Marita does not enjoy being alone. She thrives when she has her people nearby and would love to be your constant sidekick, whether you're working from home, running errands, relaxing on the couch, or heading out for a walk. Because she takes comfort from canine companionship, Rita would do best in a home with another friendly dog who can help her feel secure and continue building her confidence. Marita is doing wonderfully with potty training when she is taken outside regularly. She also walks beautifully on a leash, happily trotting along beside you despite her short little legs. While Marita is still learning to trust people completely, she continues to make progress every day. She may not be a full-time cuddle bug yet, but she wants to be close to her people and is becoming more affectionate as she realizes she is finally safe. Marita gets along wonderfully with cats and has proven to be a respectful and easygoing housemate. She is also not afraid to use her voice when something doesn't seem right in her world. If she notices something unusual, she'll let you know with a bark or two. As a result of severe dental disease from her years of breeding, Rita no longer has any teeth. Don't let that fool you, though—she still enjoys life to the fullest and doesn't let it slow her down one bit. Marita is a gentle soul with a huge heart, looking for a patient family willing to give her the love, companionship, and security she has always deserved. In return, she'll be your devoted little shadow, following you wherever life takes you. All CSHS pups are spayed/neutered, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, 4DX negative (if older than 6 months), dewormed and microchipped. Age: DOB 3/6/24 Weight: 8.5 pounds Dog friendly: Yes Cat friendly: Yes Kid friendly: Yes, older considerate kids only Potty trained: Very close, but still has a few accidents Crate trained: Does well left out in the house Irving is a very sweet little toy poodle; Irving is about 18mo old and weights about 8.5lbs. He is neutered, fully vaccinated and has good teeth. He is very shy when you first meet him and will take time to warm up but when he does look out. Irving will need a fenced in yard as he may run and is very shy. He loves to play with toys, people and other dogs. He uses a puppy door to go outside to potty and loves the outside sometimes he doesn't like to come back in unless you go out and get him. Irving is smart, funny and has a foot fetish. He will catch them when you put them up on something and then lets them go. Also, likes to nibble at your ears, neck or your hair but will not bite or hurt you. Irving would be good with shared walls as he rarely barks. He likes to sleep in bed with me and his doggie friends and likes to nap in a puppy bed. Adoption fee: $695

Story
Meet Wilson or Bruno.  He does not respond to Wilson.  He knows Bruno and responds to Bruno.  He is a Havanese mix born approx 4/5/23! He is a sweet little boy with good character and a beautiful coat.  Wilson is house-trained and does really well when riding in the car.  He has not been around cats or children.  He gets along great with multiple dogs in the home ( medium to small sizes).  Loves to run in a fenced yard.  He has high energy which a fenced yard and another dog would help him get energy out and not be afraid.  He has not walked with a leash but he is not opposed to a leash.  Eats well and takes his meds great (helps with some anxiety) and behaves when people come to visit.  He does take medicine to keep the seizures away.  Just a great little guy and wonderful little boy who would make a wonderful addition to a quieter family. He will be your best friend!  He sometimes is a lap dog.   Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Adoption fee: $585.00 Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.June 22, 2026, 7:52 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.  I f you’re looking for a gentle, devoted companion, Coco may be the perfect match. This adorable Shih Tzu/Dachshund mix is as sweet as they come and has a quiet, loving nature that makes her easy to adore. One of the cutest things about Coco is the way she walks—she has a little bunny-hop style that is guaranteed to make you smile. Coco is happiest simply being near her people. She loves companionship, whether it’s from humans or other dogs, and is content to quietly follow you from room to room throughout the day. She enjoys cuddling, relaxing nearby, and keeping an eye on her favorite people. While she can be a little shy when first meeting new people, it doesn’t take long for her to realize she’s safe. Once she does, she becomes incredibly trusting and affectionate. Coco gets along wonderfully with all dog-friendly dogs and would enjoy having a canine companion. However, she does not require another dog as long as her people are home frequently and able to provide the companionship she loves. This sweet girl enjoys soft treats, cozy places to nap, and having a comfortable spot where she can watch for her people. Her favorite setup is her kennel with the door left open or a soft blanket-filled box near the doorway where she can keep an eye on everything while waiting for her family to return. As part of her daily routine, coco receives eye drops in the vending and 1/2 tablet of Benadryl twice a day with a little canned food. She’s very cooperative and does well with this. Coco isn’t looking for excitement or adventure—she’s looking for love. She would thrive in a home where she can be included in daily life, receive plenty of affection, and spend her days close to the people she loves most. If you’re searching for a loyal little shadow with a heart of gold, Coco just might be the very best girl you’ve been waiting for.   Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit. Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.   ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there*** Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved. ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/   Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.  All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions. FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application. NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
