Meet Bug — An 11-Year-Old Gentleman With Personality to Spare! Bug is 11 years old, and this handsome Doberman/Husky mix has perfected the art of enjoying the good life. Affectionately called “Bugger,” he knows exactly what he likes: time outside, a comfy place to relax, his people nearby, and—most importantly—a really good neck scratch! â¤ï¸ A Few Things to Know About Bug Sweet & affectionate — Bug loves meeting adults and is always happy to make a new friend. Professional snuggler — Expect a sniff, a lick, and a classic Doberman lean. And if you stop petting too soon, Bug may remind you! Loves the outdoors — A securely fenced yard is a must. He enjoys running and exploring. Smart guy — He knows sit, stay, lie down, off, and go to bed. Great traveler — He rides well in the car and is wonderful at the vet, including nail trims. Simple tastes — Give him a filled bone and he's a happy guy. Mellow & easygoing — Bug thrives with a calm, predictable routine. And then there's Bug's... culinary career. This gentleman has been known to counter-surf and has even helped himself to an entire roast! His future family will need to keep food safely out of reach and the trash securely locked. Bug's Best Match Bug would do best in a quiet home with adults or older children 13+. Young children make him nervous, so his history and household suitability should be discussed with Doberman Rescue Minnesota. He has lived with another dog but is not a good match for other large male dogs. Dog introductions and compatibility will need to be carefully assessed. His previous family reported that he did well with cats, generally ignoring them or accepting their cuddles. A securely fenced yard is required, and secure latches are important—Bug has discovered that some gates can be opened with a determined nose! His recall when loose is unreliable. Bug is house-trained and comfortable in a gated area. He isn't comfortable in a crate and hasn't used one in years. He also has mild separation anxiety that will benefit from continued patience and support. Why Bug? Because sometimes the best dogs aren't looking for a million adventures. They're looking for a soft place to land. A yard to explore. A comfy bed. A person to lean against. A filled bone. And someone who understands that dinner should never, ever be late.
