Wachiwi has a lot of energy that she is able to run off with the other dog in our household.  It would be great if she could go to a home where someone can play with her or walk her often. She can by mouthy and as such she should not be around young kids. Age: 10 years old Weight: 82 lbs Dog friendly: yes, companion dog required Cat friendly: yes Kid friendly: yes Potty trained: yes Crate trained: no, will use an x-pen *Companion dog required* Hi! My name is Kodiak. My current foster dad likes to call me Kodi. Not to toot my own horn, but I am a beautiful Husky and Malamute mix. I spent nine long years with my previous family, but unfortunately they could no longer care for me. I would definitely consider myself a gentle giant who absolutely loves a good cuddle. Wherever you decide to hang out I'll be there to provide a nice and fluffy pup to hug. My previous family was composed of my mom, my sister (she was such a small dog), and my brother (I always thought he was different... turns out he's what's called a cat!) My foster dad loves plants and animals. And I've proven myself to be great with all of them. I've been caught chilling on the couch with my fosters dog and cat on multiple occasions. I do need to be honest with you about a few things... my previous mother was older. And because of that I've developed some "bad" habits. When left alone my anxiety definitely gets the best of me. There have been occasions where I've had accidents on my foster dad's floors due to anxiety. I'm also a stress eater and will swipe whatever I can reach off the counters when I'm alone. My foster dad reassures me that all of my lovable traits definitely outweigh the negative ones. I hope you give me a chance, and I'm looking forward to being in my forever home! ~Sincerely Kodi Adoption Fee: $325    Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.INTERESTED IN MEETING ME? I have been loving life since I came into rescue. Getting attention and pets from humans in is absolutely the best! I am great with all the people I meet. I flash my beautiful blue eyes at them and they can’t resist giving me some attention. I have a whole pack worth of friends at my foster house and I love to play with the little one especially. He is really fun. I have a couple of human kids at home too that I am great with and love to lay on their legs at night. Walks seem to be a new thing for me, but I am learning fast and LOVE exploring my new world. I am potty trained but don’t love my crate yet. I had Parvo. It was really hard for a few days but I am all better now and back at my foster family's house. I really like it there; they have been feeding me all the snacks I can eat! I've been eating well (and a lot) since I'm a growing puppy with loads of energy! It's really fun at my foster family's house because I have 3 foster sisters and a foster brother! We play almost all day long; sometimes they need breaks from playing. I've learned really quickly how to take corrections from them.  I'm still a puppy but I am learning from my (Husky and Pitbull) siblings that we go outside for potty breaks and that being in my crate isn't that bad. I have some separation anxiety so my foster parents have put my crate in their bedroom to help me at night. I dont cry much anymore now that I can see them at night.  My foster parents say that I am living up to every typical Husky stereotype, so its probably best if I go to a very active home or with another dog. Being a Husky also means that I am cuddly and lovable so much so that when my foster mom gets up really early I get to go back in the big bed with my foster Dad for early morning naps. Story
Tyr is a male Siberian Husky born approximately 4/21/20 who recently came to us from a Reservation. He has a lot of energy and loves to play with our other dogs. Tyr also likes to spend time outside even when it is cold. Despite having the energy level of a young husky, he is also perfectly happy to curl up next to or on the lap of one of his favorite humans to watch a movie or two. Tyr ignores our cat most of the time. The cat can play and be naughty beside him, and Tyr leaves him alone. However, we noticed that Tyr can be selective when it comes to new dogs. Proper introduction is highly recommended. Another thing to note is Tyr can be food reactive. If there are other dogs or people nearby and he is eating, he may react.  Tyr treats his crate as a safe space and will go in willingly if the door is left open or for short periods of time for a time out, but he does not like to be left in the crate. He will hurt himself trying to get out of the crate if left for a long time. He will likewise pee in the crate. If we have to go on errands, we leave him in the house with our other dogs. We found out that being left by himself, despite not being in the crate, causes separation anxiety. He will try to get out of the house by chewing and clawing at doors and siding. He will also try to chew doorknobs. Sadly, the one incident of doorknob chewing damaged his canine and it had to be extracted. Tyr will need dental care to make sure his teeth do not get damaged further.  When it comes to feeding, we suspect that his previous owner fed him in his crate since he does not eat much from a dish left out in the open and seems to feel more secure eating in the crate. Tyr knows basic commands like sit and shake. He will tell you if needs to go potty.   Since Huskies tend to have a high energy level and separation anxiety, we think he would do best in a home where someone is around most of the time and is able to provide the physical and mental stimulation he needs. If not around most of the time, it will be better for Tyr to go to a home with another dog that he can bond with to ease his separation anxiety.  A home with a fenced-in yard will be the most ideal forever home for Tyr. He is an extremely talented escape artist and sees escaping as a game. He will not return even if you call out to him. Chasing him will make him run faster and further away.   As you can see from the pictures, he is a gorgeous black and white husky with one blue and one brown eye. He is also very fluffy and soft... perfect to cuddle with! If you think Tyr is the right dog for your family, please submit an application today!   Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, alter, dental, prepaid microchip, dewormed, Rabies vaccine, DAPP vaccine, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX , flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Story
This is Banjo! He’s a Husky born 8/27/22. Banjo is a sweet & intelligent dog, who does great with other dogs, loves toys & shows no issues towards adults or children.  He craves attention & interaction. He has been around dogs of all sizes & cats, even though he did bark at cats. He is learning to walk on a leash & since he doesn't have a lot of confidence, should be tethered carefully outside of a fenced yard, as he doesn't always come when called.  He only barks when other dogs bark, and has been submissive to senior dogs. He is not highly food or treat motivated, so training to come inside or go into the kennel is a work in progress. Once in his kennel, he does very well & sleeps quietly all night.  He does well in the car too! An active family would be the best for this young man, who still has much to learn & is eager to please! Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Slick - a staff favorite!  Slick is two years old and about 55 pounds. Is fine with other dogs. And loves every person he meets.  Slick is medium-high energy dog. He only jumps on you when he is excited. He likes playing with the other dogs, but does not like pushy dogs. He is working on leash walking and doing well only pulling sometimes. He is mildy interested in toys. He absolutely loves the snow, and would lay in it all day if he could.  His foster mom says he's good with her cats in the home, but does chase playfully when one decides to run.We highly suggest at least a 6 foot fence in his future forever home, as he is a bit of a Houdini. He can jump over a 4 foot fence with ease. Slick loves car rides. He just loves being included in just about anythingHe is currently learning potty training, and is doing better. He struggled in the beginning, but is having less and less accidents indoors. One of the funniest things about Slick, is how vocal he is. He is the biggest talker, and always has something to say. We suggest no shared walls in his forever home. . Slick is neutered, vaccinated, health checked, dewormed, and micro-chipped. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. This is Balto, one of Lulu's 10 puppies that were all saved from a SD Reservation. All dogs and puppies require supervision and training. Balto was adopted as a puppy and returned as an adult due to family changes.  Hi I'm Balto and I am looking for my forever home. I'm from a litter of 10 puppies and we all found our forever homes until mine didn't have time for a 'dog' anymore. So I ended up back at the rescue where I started. I'm in a foster home now and lucky to be with one of my sisters from my litter and I have a foster brother who is a Chihuahua mix. I get along with both of them and love playing with my sister but I am selective with all the animals in the home at times, so I would need to be an only pet in the home. I can socialize outside the home with other dogs, I just don't like to share when I'm in my own place. I have lots of puppy energy so I need a family that will help me learn and grow. I do know your basic commands sit, stay, lay, down and no. I like playing with toys, stuffies, chew bones, balls playing tug with my sister fetch with my foster parents. I do destroy stuffies so we might want to wait on them until I'm older. I love playing outside with my sister (fenced in yard) and going for walks with the whole family. I have lots of energy to burn so I need to stay busy so I don't do any naughty things when I'm bored. (Chew toys are a must) I take naps after a good play or walk and I love to snuggle with my human and sometimes I think I'm a lap dog. I'm a good eater and drink lots of water treats are good too but make me work for them so I don't forget my training. My foster parents tell me I'm a good boy when getting my treats I like that. I also like to relax and just sit in the yard / deck and watch the squirrels and birds. I'm okay by myself but would prefer my human to relax with me.(snuggles) I also love to hold your hand with my paw when we're just chilling. I do great in the car and love going for rides and watching out the window. I'm good with meeting new people I love the attention and I sit for kids and let them give me all the pets and belly rubs they want. When we go for our walks I do good when passing other people and dogs unless they want to meet me then I sit and get all the pets I can. When at home I do get jealous if my foster brother or sister is getting attention I like to push my way in and get the attention for myself I'm working on that now. I'm also working on sharing toys and chew bones with my foster siblings I like to have them all to myself but my foster parents tell me I am getting better at sharing them just need to be reminded at times. I'm still a young boy learning. We have cats in my foster home but I don't know how to react/play with them I get so excited I scare them so at this time I cannot be around the cats. My foster parents think when I'm older I could have a cat sibling. So at this time I am good with kids, a fenced in yard and no dogs or cats. So if you think you are my forever home and family and will continue to work with me let's meet. I'm ready for my forever family.  Balto is fully potty trained and will go to the door and bark/whine when he needs to go out. He also sleeps through the night anywhere from 8-12 hours depending on how much exercise he had the day before. He loves to sleep with his humans but will sleep on the floor, couch or dog bed if preferred. Please put in your application on our website mattysheartandsoulanimalrescue.rescuegroups.org.      Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 24, 2024, 9:26 pm

Story
Hey, I'm Archie. My favorite things are chew toys, belly rubs, snuggling, and going for walks, not always in that order. I love playing with other dogs, but I am also content to just hang out with the humans. I really, really, reallllly like it when I get to sleep on the bed. My foster mom usually makes me go in my kennel and I do fine, but I always run to her bed first just to see if she will let me stay there instead. No luck... yet. I'm sure my sweet, hopeful eyes will get her any day now! My go-to ways to occupy myself are playing keep away with the other dogs here or, if they wont play anymore, I like chewing on a bone next to my foster mom. I know which dog-bed to sit on to get treats and I will lay quietly next to her for hours now that I know that's my spot. From my foster: Archie is a smart boy who responds to anything that leads to attention, so giving treats for things you like and walking away from less desired behavior, or asking for a known behavior like "come, sit" instead of giving attention is key to training him. He is curious about everything and likes to know what you're up to. Brain games are great for him and he has a great mind for figuring things out.  Archie likes all people, but I suspect he may train young humans to do his bidding, so unless you want small children who obey the dog, I'd recommed kids who are a bit older, or adults who will keep a close eye on what Archie is up to. ##1968786##

Name: Yuki Sex: Female Color: Isabella White Eye Color: Brown Birthday: 11/15/20 Weight: 40 Large Dog Friendly: Yes, she does really well with all the dogs she meets at the dog park. At home she tends to get nervous with other dogs when they are too hyper or wild. Small Dog Friendly: Unknown Cat Friendly: No Crate Trained: At this time, no, as she is not used to being in a crate. Appears to have some separation anxiety and will need work to get crate trained. Housebroken: Yes Energy Level: She is typically very calm, but does get zoomies and likes to run around. She would do best in a home where she can relax, cuddle and get all the belly rubs! She also loves walks, and regular runs in a fenced in yard/area Reaction to New People: She is shy at first, but warms up quickly and loves pets. Needs to work on socialization with new people and situations Kid Friendly: Older and calmer would be best for her, as young kids and their noises and quick movements make her nervous. Training: She knows the basics, but could use some better leash manners as she likes to jump around and go all husky when asked to go potty. She needs socialization to learn some confidence in new/public situations. Like most huskies, she is a runner, so caution by the doors and getting in and out of the car is needed. Fence: Currently she goes out on a leash to go potty and then back in, as she does not appear to like the cold as much as a lot of huskies. She does respect the fence at a dog park, but at home would need to be on a tie out or supervised as she will dig under or try to climb out. Solo or Siblings: She would love to be the lone center of human attention, but could also like a sibling to play with, depending on the dog as she can be picky about her playmates and if they are too hyper she can be nervous. From the Foster: Yuki is a furry little princess that loves all the attention. She is overall pretty calm, but also has her husky zoomies. Since a small pup, she has always been a bit shy and hesitant in unknown situations/people and needs to build her confidence, but she does love to explore, and would benefit from socialization and group training class. Like a typical husky, she loves to run, climb, jump etc, so may also benefit from joring or agility classes. She is tolerant of baths, but is scared of water otherwise, and will tip-toe through wet grass. She loves attention and belly rubs, and will lay on her back and paw at you or reach out to you for more if you stop. She is an all around adventurous, loving, curious and goofy girl who needs a best friend to cuddle, experience life with, and to help her overcome her nervousness/fear of the world. Adoption Fee: $50 All dogs coming into Adopt a Husky Minnesota receive care tailored to their needs, including: Nose-to-tail exam with a partner veterinarian, Vaccinations (Rabies, Distemper, Bordetella), 4DX test to check for heartworm or tick exposure, Fecal Analysis, Heartworm and Flea/Tick Preventative, Spay/Neuter prior to adoption, Microchip, and are evaluated for temperament and trainability.
