Story
Meet Stella! Stella is very excitable girl! Her ears like to stand up tall to emote her bubblyness! Stella was surrendered from her only family since being a puppy due to not having time to meet her needs. Stella is a large, strong, very intelligent dog. She will need an adopter who can handle her strength, offer her plenty of physical and mental enrichment, and someone able to work with her to help her fulfill her potential!Stella bonds strongly with her people and does get attached deeply. She does get sad when her people leave her behind. She would be best suited living in a home with a pawrent, or two that work from home, or someone who is able to support her with her separation anxiety.Stella is a fun girl with a big loving personality, and she's ready to find her people, who will stick with her til the bitter end!She is in an awesome foster home awaiting adoption and this what they noticed with Stella girl:-loves socializing with people and dogs. Wants to say hi to everyone.-does not bark much. I think I've only heard her bark twice in the past week.-loves playing tug a war.-loves car rides.-likes routine.-she would benefit from living somewhere with a fenced yard where she can run and burn some of her energy. Please follow these steps if interested in adoption!1. View the animal's profile at adopt.spca.bc.ca 2. Submit an application https://spca.bc.ca/adoption/application-forms/3. If it's a match, staff will contact you to set up an appointment for a meet & greet. 4. Live happily fur-ever after!*Side note: the more you add to your application about you and what you are looking for in a canine companion, the better we can match animals with adopters!PLEASE NOTE: This dog is located on the Sunshine Coast and travel via BC Ferries is required to adopt. Story
Meet Bailey!Bailey is a young, energetic Husky-Shepherd mix (with a bit of mystery sprinkled in) who's ready for an active home that can help her reach her full potential. She's a sweet, people-loving girl with a big personality and an even bigger voice!Personality & TemperamentBailey is true to her Husky roots-curious, independent, and always following her nose. She can be a little aloof at times, but she warms up quickly and loves attention from people. She's playful, bright, and eager for adventure.Training & BehaviorBailey currently has no formal training and will need an adopter committed to helping her learn good manners and structure. She's very strong on leash and requires continued work on recall. With consistency (and maybe some tasty treats), she has great potential.Good With...Dogs: Seems comfortable around other friendly dogs given proper introductionCats/Small Animals: very excitable strong prey drivePeople: Very friendly!Ideal HomeBailey is not a match for first-time dog owners or homes with young children-she'll thrive with someone experienced, patient, and active. Because she has a loud bark/yelp and a healthy set of Husky vocals, she's not suited for apartments or condos. She's looking for a home that can offer space, training, exercise, and lots of love.If you're ready for a fun, spirited companion who will keep life interesting, Bailey may be the adventure buddy you've been waiting for! Story
Meet Adorable Alita! This sweet girl is a playful pup with energy to burn. Alita is looking for a home that can keep her body and mind busy with fun activities and adventures. She is learning to walk nicely on the leash and to keep her feet on the ground, but she will need some guidance with positive reinforcement training. Luckily, she really loves her treats and is always eager for some!Alita has not been introduced to other dogs in shelter yet, but she seems very interested in them and would potentially do well with a canine friend. Due to her bouncy nature, she may not be a good fit for a home with small children, however she may do well with older dog-savvy kids. Alita has a spay booked for December 9th and would be able to go home after that. If you are interested in adopting her, please send in an application!https://spca.bc.ca/adoption/dog-pre-adoption-questionnaire/ Primary Color: Tan Secondary Color: White Weight: 17.3 Age: 4yrs 0mths 1wks

Story
I bet the majority of us have always wanted a Steve in our life. And that Steve is most likely a super cool guy who you just want to be around because he emits goodness no matter the time of day. Steve the dog is no different than the Steve you know. He is a super cool guy, despite the past that should've been kinder to him. Steve is a loving, big soft fluff, who unlike many dogs of his breed, does not vocalize a lot. Steve is a smart, active, well-trained local dog that fell upon hard times and that resulted in a lot of fear and confusion. He was often tied with a short chain to a cinder block and left outside. The last time he had been outside for a walk was unknown. His world had become very very very small and Steve shut down. This naturally resulted in resource guarding and reactivity - which culminated in a bite when someone tried to remove food in a bowl from near him. The owners tried to surrender him to various groups but no one wanted him as a result of the bite and the only offer was euthanasia. Thankfully we at Mountainside gave Steve a chance to show us his true colors. We quickly saw that he was loving - but so scared and confused. Through months of training, exercise and monitored socialization, Steve has started to make friends and is becoming more himself as each day goes by. He has had the wonderful fortune of being in foster care and then being very loved by our boarding facility partners that have given him the incredible opportunity to meet new dogs and learn how to be a dog again. Steve is working hard on making progress through some of his issues and though he has come so far, he will need his person to continue to help him along his journey. At this time we think the best fit would be an adult only family that is home more often than not. He has lived with other dogs in the past but isn't ready for that yet. No cats as well. Steve is a stunning, kind boy who would be a perfect match for someone who is patient, and willing to put in the work to give him the best kind of life. At the end of the day, he's just Steve, a super cool guy, who deserves a super cool life.
