Story
MEET TENOR & BASS! This happy and loving duo has waited much too long for a home. They are a loving, fun pair of playful dogs who need a foster or forever home! They are very affectionate toward people, and love, love, love each other. They are likely brothers, who found themselves at a crowded California shelter with no adoption interest. Fortunately they were rescued but still haven't found a home yet. They must be adopted together as they are extremely bonded. Both are almost 7 years old. Bass, the brown-and-white pup, weighs only 55 lbs., and Tenor (tan and white) weighs about 60 lbs. They are fun, active pups who love to run, play and snuggle. They would love to be adopted by someone who could take them on hikes, walks and other outings. They currently play with each other for entertainment but it'd be great for them to branch out and see the world. Bass & Tenor love to jump up and give kisses. They are not super friendly with other dogs, so should be the only dogs in the home - but they have plenty of love to give and will be grateful to whomever adopts them. If you can foster or adopt Bass & Tenor, please email for an application.

Story
Hi, I’m a playful, adventurous pup who’s truly blossomed during my time in foster care. My foster family says I’ve been an absolute dream, especially with kids and another dog and have fit right into the family. I’m the kind of dog who’s happy to go with the flow and join in on whatever the day brings, whether that’s beach trips, outdoor adventures, playtime, or relaxing at home with my people. I’m active, curious, and always excited to see what’s next. Toys are one of my favorite things, and I love being included in the fun. I’ve grown so much and continue to build confidence every day. I’d love a home that will keep helping me explore the world, continue my training, and include me in all of life’s adventures. In return, you’ll get a loyal, goofy, loving companion who’s ready to be right by your side through it all. If you’re looking for a happy pup who can keep up with your adventures and then cuddle up at the end of the day, I’d love to meet you.

Story
Hi, I’m Chase! I’m a super friendly, energetic guy who loves to play, run, and make new friends. I came to HSVC after my previous owner could no longer keep me and am now looking for a family that can keep up with my fun-loving personality. I’ve done really well on pack walks, walk nicely on leash, and seem to enjoy the company of other dogs just as much as I enjoy people. I got my name because I absolutely love chasing and playing with other dogs, it’s one of my favorite things ever. In playgroups, I’m confident, social, and always ready for rough-and-rowdy fun with buddies who match my energy. Treats aren’t really my thing because I’m usually too busy enjoying life and making new friends. If you’re looking for an outgoing adventure buddy with a playful spirit and a heart full of love, I think we’d make the perfect team.

Story
Jonah is a sweet Siberian husky/malamute with a big personality and is afavorite among shelter staff and volunteers - exceptionally goofy, playful, sweet, and a total cuddle bug who loves his people. Jonah has spent several months in foster, where he immediately thrived. Athome, Jonah is chill, independent, and adaptable. He is house trained,non-destructive, sleeps 10+ hours overnight, and can be left at home for 6-8+ hours (after proper exercise). He loves to nap almost as much as heloves being with his people. He can be vocal but is not a husky howler, andhe has never shown escape tendencies. His favorite activities are walking, visiting the beach, and receiving belly rubs.Jonah responds best to clear behavior and predictability/consistency (inboth routine and body language). While new people or confusing behaviorscan excite him initially, it doesn’t take too long for him to observe, figure outhow this new part of his world works, and go back to his sleepy self. At times, Jonah has spurts of energy and excitement which can bemanaged since he is very smart, and food motivated. He has already comea long way when it comes to leash-pulling, recall, prey-drive (squirrels, mouse, rabbits) and impulse control, and he’s still making progress.Jonah is truly a one-of-a-kind dog who will brighten anyone’s life. He woulddo best with patient, husky, or malamute-familiar adopters with an activelifestyle, who can help keep him physically and mentally stimulated as partof the foundation for his training progress as well managing a large, strongdog, and advocating for Jonah’s communication style with new people. Jonah has so much potential and love to give. He is ready for his foreverhome!

Story
Romo is a people oriented Akita who`s a joy to be around. A surprising mixture of exuberance and gentility, he plays well with other dogs, is motivated by attention and compliments rather than treats. He isn`t a barker or biter and loves to go on walks and adventures. He thinks zoomies in the backyard are a gas and he would be a great addition to a family wth outdoor space. It`s charming how he`ll bring your slippers and cushions to you without damaging them in any way. He`ll even lick them clean for you! He knows not to climb on furniture. His greatest pleasure is being near peole. He`s improving his leash skills and does well with someone who has upper body strength to contain his enthusiasm about checking out patches of clover and grass. Taking him for walk at the shelter won`t show his multiple attributes. He shines in a home setting. He lovers to have his chin scratched and sometimes even his belly. His ears and back, not so much and he`ll let you know by licking your arm. Romo`s goal in life is to be a devoted companion to some lucky family.
