Story
Daisy "Dee" is currently in a foster home, however, it does not seem to be the best fit. Here are some notes from her current foster parents: Daisy is a sweet girl who deserves a great home!Daisy is a very sweet girl! She is moderate - high energy and would benefit from being housed with an active guardian/family. She loves to play with toys and go for long walks. She is skeptical of new people and needs time to warm up; she seems to be more wary of men. Once she does warm up, she loves you and is so sweet and loyal! She does well with my young son, but he is definitely respectful of her space and prefers to play with her rather than tug on her ears, tail, give hugs, etc. She probably wouldn't like a kid that is very "huggy". She can spook from loud noises and is especially sensitive if they come from men (banging pots, trash cans, musical instruments). In the home:Daisy is on the shy side and needs a slow intro with treats when she meets new people at home. She warms up with time and has a natural ability to protect her home. She will bark when people enter. She warms up if she is tossed some treats, left alone, and then allowed to warm up on her own time. She crates well overnight and sometimes is fussy in the crate during the day when there is activity in the house but she does settle on. Overall, she is crate trained. She has had a few accidents in the house on carpet. We are managing the carpeted bedrooms by closing doors. She now has worked up to access to in/outside with the back door open. With the room doors closed and back door open, we have eliminated potty issues. She chews on her bones and toys - not furniture or other items. She is very affectionate and loves to cuddle on the couch at home. She also loves to sunbathe on the patio.Daisy is mostly respectful of counters though she did snag a piece of chicken once!Out of the home:Daisy enjoys long walks. She will sometimes take treats from passerbys but is naturally shy. She walks mostly nicely on leash and loves meeting other mellow dogs. She can express leash frustration at fences with barking dogs or when she sees other walking dogs barking. She will jump, whine, pull toward the arousal. I have had success redirecting her to alternative behaviors with treats. We took her to walk around the harbor in Ventura one Sunday and she did great with all the activity around! She just didn't prefer to be approached directly by people but loved seeing all the dogs. We've also worked on recall for short periods and she is doing great! I always keep these really brief to set her up for success and have toys and treats on me. She wants to follow me now where I go. She loves tug and toys. She is so fun to play with!
