Story
Sally is a beautiful, playful three year old Alaskan Klee Kai. She weighs about 40 pounds. Sally absolutely loves to go outside and spend time with her dog friends. She loves splashing around in the kiddie pool in the summer to cool off. Her human friends are working hard to help her be more comfortable around them, too. While she is still not comfortable being touched, she is playful around familiar humans and will get zoomies! She relies on other dogs for the confidence she has developed and therefore must have a more confident dog in her forever home. She can be a little picky with her dog friends, so her potential adopters will need to bring their dog(s) to her meet and greet to ensure it is a good fit. Sally tends to prefer large, male dogs that don't mind when she gets vocal or asks for her space. She needs quiet, consistency, and predictability in her future home. As such, she will need to go to a home with no young children. Sally is almost fully leash trained but still requires a 5 foot high fenced yard, as she is a flight risk. Once she is more comfortable with her people, a harness and leash can be used to walk her outside of her yard.Sally is learning humans bring good things and deserves a wonderful family who will go slowly and let her set the pace. If you are a calm person or family and want to be a hero for a sweet girl who needs a hero, please apply to meet Sally at NMDR.org.- - - - - -Prior to being rescued, many of our dogs have experienced minimal socialization. As a result, there is often an adjustment period when learning about life as a family pet. We typically do not adopt to homes with young children. Homes with older children will be considered on an individual basis. Common skills such as house training and leash walking will often take a little extra time. Patience, understanding and a gentle hand are a must. The great news is, most of these dogs come around rather quickly and being a part of their rehabilitation is an extremely rewarding experience. Story
#### Sky, a delicate 2-year-old Alaskan Husky weighing 32lbs, navigates the world with a tender heart and a yearning for connection. Her anxious nature reveals her sensitivity, emphasizing the importance of a nurturing and understanding environment.Sky loves to go outside with her dog friends and enjoys running and playing with them. She enjoys cooling off in the kiddie pool in the summer time. She is highly food motivated, so treats will be instrumental in building trust with her. Toys also seem to be a way to her heart - she loves to frolic around with a stuffed toy in her mouth! Sky is an active dog, so physical and mental exercise are vital to relieving her anxiety while she learns how to navigate this big, strange world! In her search for a forever home, Sky's need for another dog companion is essential. Their presence provides her with the reassurance and support she craves, helping her navigate the challenges of daily life. Sky can be a little socially awkward with new dogs, so potential adopters will need to bring their dogs to her meet and greet to ensure it is a good fit for everyone. For Sky's safety and enjoyment, a 5ft solid fence is required as she is not yet leash trained and is a flight risk. This will allow her to explore the outdoors while remaining secure. She will do best in a home with no young children, as loud noises and sudden movements can be scary to her.Sky's journey to self-assuredness may be gradual, but her potential for growth is undeniable. With the right care and companionship, she's likely to blossom and find her place in a loving family. Her friends at NMDR see her potential to become a goofy, carefree dog and hope she can find the right home to give her that opportunity. If you're prepared to provide a patient and compassionate space for a gentle and anxious soul, Sky is ready to embark on a journey of healing and companionship with you. Apply at nmdr.org and let Sky's story of transformation begin with you! --------------------------------------Prior to being rescued, many of our dogs have experienced minimal socialization. As a result, there is often an adjustment period when learning about life as a family pet. Because some of our dogs are very under socialized, they may not be a good fit for young children. Homes with older children will be considered on an individual basis. Some of our more fearful dogs will do best in a home with another dog and a securely fenced yard. Common skills such as house training and leash walking will often take extra time. Patience, understanding and a gentle hand are a must. The great news is, many of these dogs come around with patience and being a part of their rehabilitation is an extremely rewarding experience. Story
#### Sara, a gentle 4-year-old Alaskan Husky weighing 31lbs, carries a heart that seeks solace and understanding. Her delicate nature and anxious disposition require a patient and loving environment.Since she's not yet experienced on a leash, a secure 5ft fence is essential for her safety, ensuring she can freely enjoy her surroundings while remaining protected. Sara approaches familiar people and takes treats, but she is still learning that being touched is safe. Her journey to self-assuredness will be enriched by the companionship of a confident dog and the patience of her new family. In the presence of a confident canine companion, Sara blossoms. Their companionship brings her comfort and helps alleviate her anxious moments, making another dog in her home necessary. A confident dog would serve as a guide for her leash training, socialization with humans, and showing her how to simply be "a dog". A home without young children is recommended, allowing Sara the tranquility she craves. Her delicate heart deserves a space where she can thrive and find comfort. If you're prepared to provide a nurturing and understanding home for a gentle and anxious soul, Sara is ready to embark on a journey of healing and companionship with you.
