Story
Meet Fressi (also known as Fresita), the petite red Husky! Fressi is a very special dog who was flown to Colorado on a freedom flight from an overcrowded shelter in San Francisco, and is now ready to find her forever home. She's 1 year old and weighs 45 lbs.; and she's spayed, microchipped, housetrained, good on leash, good with kids and other dogs. Fressi is incredibly sweet and affectionate. She adores other dogs and has excellent social skills. She's energetic, but can also be a chill officemate, cuddle bug. She’s good on leash and is learning not to pull when she sees a bunny, deer or fox. Fressi’s dream home: Outdoor area with acreage or a fenced yard with adopters who can take her on long hikes, trail walks and eventually mountain adventures would be ideal. (We’re saying no condos or apartments for this active girl.) She would like her person to be home more often than not. She's love to find a home with another dog companion OR have nearby dog friends. She loves people and needs active folks who like outdoor time and will commit to continuing her training. She has the potential to be the BEST dog because she is super smart and sweet! Fressi is a prize-winning example of what makes dogs awesome, and everyone is smitten with this special little lady. She deserves to find her way to a permanent home where she is loved, cherished and can reach her full potential. For more info and/or to apply to adopt Fresi, send us an email at SummitDogRescue@gmail.com, telling us a bit about yourself, your home environment and your lifestyle. A volunteer will get back to you shortly. Thanks.

Story
Hi I am Suki! I just arrived in Colorado from Texas 11/18 I am a cute mix pup that is a perfect medium sized dog I have the cutest fluffy ears and prettiest smile. I am playful and energetic— I love to run and romp. I love squirrels and could be a great running/ adventure buddy with a little more practice. I am still learning to walk well on a leash but will pick it up quickly. I only pull when my excited puppy energy comes out! I am already doing well exploring on a long line and practicing recalls. I am good with other dogs of all sizes— I just want to play! When left alone I settle well and have worked lots on being comfortable in my crate! I can be timid around men but I warm up with patience and time. I have not been around human kids— I am a friendly girl but would need a kiddo that respects my space and body language. Please be patient with me as I keep working on my potty training. Fully vetted and two free one on one dog training sessions

Story
Puppies are a lot of fun, but also a lot of responsibility! Things you should be aware of before adopting a puppy from the Denver Animal Shelter:* Puppies will need regular socialization. The critical time period for socialization is between 8 and 16 weeks, but it is important to continue to socialize your new pup throughout their young life. This means having positive and enjoyable interactions with as many new people, new dogs, and new environments as possible. Appropriate socialization will help puppies grow into healthier and more social adults.* They will not know what is appropriate to chew on, where they should go to the bathroom, and how to behave in all situations. Puppies require a lot of time spent on training, management, and supervision. It is recommended that puppies be crate trained or kept in a puppy-proofed room of the house with appropriate chew toys and enrichment when not actively supervised. The Denver Animal Shelter always recommends positive reinforcement-based training methods. * Puppies in a shelter environment often have unknown parentage. While we make our best guesses on size and breed, we cannot guarantee their adult temperament, behavior, size, or characteristics.More about this puppy: Sasha is cute, fun and loves to play! She can be shy and sensitive at first, so any kids in the home should be old enough to go slow with her*Older kids recommended

Story
Meet Lacie! Lacie is incredibly sweet with people (especially kids), house-trained, well-behaved and not much of a barker. Loves her belly rubs and zoomies. She should be the only pet as she does not get along with other dogs, though we do not know about cats. She would thrive in a home with a yard and older kids to keep her company. She has crate anxiety and gets carsick easily (can use dramamine). She is a smart dog and very low-maintenance--she would just want someone to burn her playful energy.
