Story
Kakashi recently lost his person not even half way into the first year of his life. Family has taken him in, but they want a better fit for him for a more fulfilled life. He's used to being active with his person, and meeting new friends both canine and human. Just like his person, he can be a positive light in your life, and never let you miss a moment of excitement and adventure. He's a busy body, and like most huskies, needs his person to keep up with him. If you can manage to wear him out enough every day, you'll get rewarded with the most satisfying cuddles from this small polar bear. Kakashi lived without other canines in his first home, but now he is living with three his size! He'd do best with another husky that can handle his play style - he's very mouthy and thinks necks are for tugging on. Not the most favorite style of play for other breeds of dogs. He likes to think that's totally normal... but he would benefit from another dog to teach him those boundaries. He's lived with kids in both homes, age 8 and up. Kakashi is mostly house trained and crate trained (although he likes to yell in protest until everyone leaves the house!). Kakashi is in our RAIN program/not a shelter dog in the facility.

Story
Kavik is an Alaskan Husky mix and is a very loving dog who found himself at the Wichita Animal Shelter. He's a bit nervous meeting new people but warms up quickly and has no problem cuddling with you if you if you can keep his attention. He has tons of energy, so an active family is a must for him. IHe is great with the kids ages 6&10 in his current foster home, but needs to work on social skills. He wants to say hello to every animal but comes off as a little too eager/intrusive when given the chance to say hi. He wants to be an alpha so he can be persistent about shows of dominance with other dogs. He has little interest in playing fetch. He is a great running companion but needs some work to slow down on walks (gentle leader works ok but it bugs him). He is mostly house trained. He has been kenneled when he can't be watched and shows signs of separation anxiety when he's left alone. He has only had a couple of accidents inside the house. He has a scar on his right cheek and left front leg for reasons unknown. He does know some common commands like sit and come and is very food driven. He is a fast eater but hasn't shown too much protective actions towards people getting close while he's eating. He does not like being pulled by his collar by your hand (maybe a trigger from past human aggression?) but is ok when its done with a leash. Overall he is a great dog that just needs a little training and a family who will love him and love to be active with him. Visit www.beautiesandbeasts.org for more details.
