Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Volunteer fave in the house! Bram arrived at the shelter on 9/29/2024, after he went unclaimed at the city pound. He's a happy and energetic husky mix with icy blue eyes. We do think he's mixed with some type of herding breed. He's friendly and ready for action at all times. He's also very loving. His size is in the medium range and he's around 3 years old. He has been vet checked, neutered, and microchipped. His adoption fee of $150 is sponsored.  We're hoping to find Bram a home that has some experience with husky types. They are notorious clowns who love to run! Bram does require basic obedience training and a lot of regular exercise to keep him settled. He loves to play and be with people. He has a tendency to be strong willed so he needs an experienced owner who is ready and willing to work with this. Cats are most likely a no for him. An adult only home would be best and a fenced yard would be perfection. He could do well with a well mannered dog of similar size. NOTE:  Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application as been completed and approved. Applications must be submitted at our website, mchs.rescuegroups.org. Keep an eye on your emails if you apply. We are located at 101 22nd St. SE in Austin, right next to the airport. It's exit 180B off of I-90, right off of 218 South. We do require that potential adopters be at least 21 years old and that any resident dogs be up to date on vaccinations, heartworm testing/preventatives, and spayed or neutered.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.August 6, 2026, 1:38 pm

Story
I would like you to meet Mally! She was abandoned on my sister’s property a few months ago, and my sister has been taking care of her ever since. She is spayed and up to date on all her vaccinations. Mally is very sweet and loving husky and she is wonderful with children! She has been living with my 3- and 5-year-old nieces for a while now. Mally is 3 years old. She is very well-behaved and is fully potty trained, she just cannot be in a home that has other pets. Her history of abuse and neglect has led her to start resource-guarding her food and she is not getting along with my mom's dog and so we need to find her a new home. She really is a very sweet dog and would thrive in the right environment. If you or anyone you know would be able to give this girl a good home, please reach out to me!

Story
Don’t let the name fool you. This handsome boy is all dog, all heart, and full of personality. Kitty came to BENCHS as an unclaimed stray from the City of Mankato, and we have since learned more about his background to help us find the right match for him moving forward. Kitty was previously known as Houston and was rehomed in May 2025. He lived as an indoor dog and did well with people, including children ages 8 to 14. He was crate trained overnight, rides well in the car, and enjoys human attention. He is a smart dog who can open certain doors and may slip out of a tie out if it is not secure, so supervision and good management will be important. Kitty weighs about 68 pounds and was born on April 20, 2023. He is a young, energetic dog with a lot of enthusiasm for life and enjoys showing off the commands he already knows. In his previous home, Kitty lived with dogs and did well with a spayed female, but he was involved in a serious incident with an intact male dog. Because of this history, Kitty is dog selective and would do best as the only dog in the home or with careful, experienced placement. He also has a high prey drive and should not live with cats, chickens, or other small animals. Kitty is a bright, powerful young dog who will need a home that can provide structure, clear boundaries, and continued training. With the right environment and guidance, he has the potential to be a loyal and rewarding companion. If you are an experienced dog owner looking for a confident, intelligent dog and are prepared to meet Kitty’s needs, he may be the right fit for you.

Story
At just 3 months old, Ying Yang is already proving that she's got all the ingredients to become an incredible family dog. This beautiful puppy transferred to BENCHS from another shelter and has quickly won us over with her sweet, curious personality. While we've listed a breed mix as our best guess based on her appearance, the truth is we have no idea what breeds make up this adorable little girl. Whatever she is, she's 100% good girl. Ying Yang approaches life with confidence and enthusiasm, always ready to explore something new or make another friend. She enjoys meeting new people and takes on new experiences with the kind of curiosity that makes puppyhood so much fun. One thing that's clear is that Ying Yang absolutely loves other dogs. She's spent her entire life surrounded by canine companions and is wonderfully social with them. Because of that, we think she would make an excellent addition to a home that's looking to add a second or even third dog to the family. She seems to thrive when she has four-legged friends to learn from, wrestle with, and play alongside. Ying Yang is growing quickly, so her future family should be ready for all the adventures that come with raising a large, active puppy. She's very food motivated, loves working for treats, and is already learning "sit," catching on quickly with positive reinforcement. She also loves Kong toys, enjoys a good belly rub, and is always happy to soak up affection from her people. While we haven't had the opportunity to see how Ying Yang does with cats, we think she would likely do well with a thoughtful, slow introduction. As with any puppy, continued training, socialization, and positive experiences will help her grow into a well-rounded adult dog. Ying Yang is looking for a loving indoor home where she can be a true member of the family, continue learning, and enjoy all the comforts that every puppy deserves. If you're looking for a confident, affectionate puppy who's eager to learn, loves other dogs, and is ready to become your next adventure buddy, Ying Yang just might be the perfect fit.

Story
Meet River! River is a neutered male husky who is a little over four years old. He is on the bigger end for a husky but appears to be at a healthy, appropriate weight. River can only see out of his right eye—and it is a beautiful blue eye full of alertness and intelligence. River is incredibly sweet, affectionate, and well behaved. He loves being close to his people and is definitely a cuddler. He enjoys attention and may gently paw at you when he decides he would like a little more. He has done well with both dogs and cats in his foster home. He enjoys wrestling and playing with the other dogs while still keeping his play gentle. River also appears to be crate trained and settles quietly in his crate. That being said, we recommend that his next home not have shared walls. River has one healthy, working eye, but it does not stop him from enjoying life, playing, exploring, or loving his people. Like many huskies, River occasionally likes to talk and may try to run if given the opportunity, so his future family will need to keep his harness secure and provide a safely fenced yard. Overall, though, River is on the quieter end for a husky. River will be a wonderful companion for a family looking for a sweet, loyal, affectionate, and loving husky! Apply to adopt at campcompanion.org. Adoption fee is $450 plus tax.
