Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Volunteer fave in the house! Bram arrived at the shelter on 9/29/2024, after he went unclaimed at the city pound. He's a happy and energetic husky mix with icy blue eyes. We do think he's mixed with some type of herding breed. He's friendly and ready for action at all times. He's also very loving. His size is in the medium range and he's around 2 years old. He has been vet checked, neutered, and chipped. His fee is $150. We're hoping to find Bram a home that has some experience with husky types. They are notorious clowns who love to run! Bram does require basic obedience training and a lot of regular exercise to keep him settled. He loves to play and be with people. He has a tendency to be strong willed so he needs an experienced owner who is ready and willing to work with this. Cats are most likely a no for him. An adult only home would be best and a fenced yard would be perfection. He could do well with a well mannered dog of similar size. NOTE:  Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application as been completed and approved. Applications must be submitted at our website, mchs.rescuegroups.org. Keep an eye on your emails if you apply. We are located at 101 22nd St. SE in Austin, right next to the airport. It's exit 180B off of I-90, right off of 218 South. We do require that potential adopters be at least 21 years old and that any resident dogs be up to date on vaccinations, heartworm testing/preventatives, and spayed or neutered.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.July 14, 2025, 12:05 am

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Flint arrived from the city pound on 1/26/2026. His legal stray hold was finished and no one had claimed him. He appears to be an approximately 3 year old husky/shepherd mix. There could be some Australian shepherd or collie in there, too. He is very loving and personable. He was already neutered upon arrival and will go to the vet soon for the rest of his vet work. His fee is $150. Flint is an active dog who will require regular exercise. He is pretty well mannered and seems to have had a little training but more training is always a plus. He is bright and eager to please. We do think he would do okay with other dogs. He's a happy guy who loves attention. He has been a pretty easy resident to have at our shelter. He doesn't cause any problems and he keeps a perfectly clean kennel. We think he would be okay with older kids. We have no way of knowing about cats. Story
Frankie is a handsome Lab and Husky mix who joined us at BENCHS from a nearby rescue after arriving as part of a large litter. From the moment he walked through our doors, he has brought that perfect blend of Labrador sweetness and Husky spark that makes him impossible not to love. From his Labrador side, Frankie carries that eager to please personality and affectionate nature. He loves being around people, is quick to engage, and thrives on attention and positive interaction. Labs are known for their loyalty, intelligence, and trainability, and Frankie is already showing signs that he will be a fun and responsive companion to work with as he grows. From his Husky side, he brings playful energy, curiosity, and a little dash of mischief. Huskies are smart, active, and adventurous, and Frankie is no exception. He will need a home that is ready to keep both his body and brain busy with exercise, enrichment, and continued training. A fenced yard or an active lifestyle would suit him well. Frankie has lived with other dogs his entire life and is very comfortable in a canine social setting. Because of that, he would be a wonderful candidate for a home looking to add another dog to an established pack. He reads other dogs well, enjoys play, and would likely benefit from having a confident canine companion to grow up alongside. Frankie is still a puppy, which means he will need patience, structure, and consistency as he learns the ropes of home life. In return, you will get a loyal, playful, strikingly handsome best friend who is ready to build a lifetime of memories with his family. If you are looking for a smart, social, and spirited addition to your home, Frankie might just be your perfect match.

Story
Don’t let the name fool you. This handsome boy is all dog, all heart, and full of personality. Kitty came to BENCHS as an unclaimed stray from the City of Mankato, and we have since learned more about his background to help us find the right match for him moving forward. Kitty was previously known as Houston and was rehomed in May 2025. He lived as an indoor dog and did well with people, including children ages 8 to 14. He was crate trained overnight, rides well in the car, and enjoys human attention. He is a smart dog who can open certain doors and may slip out of a tie out if it is not secure, so supervision and good management will be important. Kitty weighs about 68 pounds and was born on April 20, 2023. He is a young, energetic dog with a lot of enthusiasm for life and enjoys showing off the commands he already knows. In his previous home, Kitty lived with dogs and did well with a spayed female, but he was involved in a serious incident with an intact male dog. Because of this history, Kitty is dog selective and would do best as the only dog in the home or with careful, experienced placement. He also has a high prey drive and should not live with cats, chickens, or other small animals. Kitty is a bright, powerful young dog who will need a home that can provide structure, clear boundaries, and continued training. With the right environment and guidance, he has the potential to be a loyal and rewarding companion. If you are an experienced dog owner looking for a confident, intelligent dog and are prepared to meet Kitty’s needs, he may be the right fit for you.

Story
Meet Elsa ❄️ – A Gentle Soul Ready for Her Forever Home Elsa is a beautiful 3-year-old husky mix with soft, soulful eyes and a heart full of love. She may be a bit shy at first, but once she feels safe, her sweet and playful personality shines through. Elsa thrives in a calm and patient home. She loves gentle affection, soft voices, and relaxing walks. She’s crate-trained, making great progress on leash walking and basic commands like sit. Potty training is still a work in progress, so she’ll benefit from a predictable routine and continued support. She would do best in a home with adults or older children who understand her need for a slow, gentle introduction to new things. A calm, confident dog friend could help her continue building trust and confidence. If you believe in love built on trust and patience, Elsa might be the perfect match. With a little time and a lot of love, this shy girl will melt into your heart—and stay there forever. 💙 Apply to adopt at www.campcompanion.org Adoption fee is $350 plus tax.
