Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Volunteer fave in the house! Bram arrived at the shelter on 9/29/2024, after he went unclaimed at the city pound. He's a happy and energetic husky mix with icy blue eyes. We do think he's mixed with some type of herding breed. He's friendly and ready for action at all times. He's also very loving. His size is in the medium range and he's around 3 years old. He has been vet checked, neutered, and chipped. His fee is $150. We're hoping to find Bram a home that has some experience with husky types. They are notorious clowns who love to run! Bram does require basic obedience training and a lot of regular exercise to keep him settled. He loves to play and be with people. He has a tendency to be strong willed so he needs an experienced owner who is ready and willing to work with this. Cats are most likely a no for him. An adult only home would be best and a fenced yard would be perfection. He could do well with a well mannered dog of similar size. NOTE:  Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application as been completed and approved. Applications must be submitted at our website, mchs.rescuegroups.org. Keep an eye on your emails if you apply. We are located at 101 22nd St. SE in Austin, right next to the airport. It's exit 180B off of I-90, right off of 218 South. We do require that potential adopters be at least 21 years old and that any resident dogs be up to date on vaccinations, heartworm testing/preventatives, and spayed or neutered.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.August 3, 2026, 9:38 pm

Story
Meet River! River is a neutered male husky who is a little over four years old. He is on the bigger end for a husky but appears to be at a healthy, appropriate weight. River can only see out of his right eye—and it is a beautiful blue eye full of alertness and intelligence. River is incredibly sweet, affectionate, and well behaved. He loves being close to his people and is definitely a cuddler. He enjoys attention and may gently paw at you when he decides he would like a little more. He has done well with both dogs and cats in his foster home. He enjoys wrestling and playing with the other dogs while still keeping his play gentle. River also appears to be crate trained and settles quietly in his crate. That being said, we recommend that his next home not have shared walls. River has one healthy, working eye, but it does not stop him from enjoying life, playing, exploring, or loving his people. Like many huskies, River occasionally likes to talk and may try to run if given the opportunity, so his future family will need to keep his harness secure and provide a safely fenced yard. Overall, though, River is on the quieter end for a husky. River will be a wonderful companion for a family looking for a sweet, loyal, affectionate, and loving husky! Apply to adopt at campcompanion.org. Adoption fee is $450 plus tax.

Story
Meet Milo, an 8 year old Husky with a calm, gentle personality that's a little different from what you might expect! While he still enjoys the outdoors, he's a mellow guy who is happiest soaking up the sights and sounds of nature. Give him a comfy spot outside and he'll happily spend time watching the trees, wildlife, and everything happening around him. Milo is incredibly friendly, affectionate, and loves to snuggle with his people. He's a quiet, easygoing companion who enjoys his naps just as much as he enjoys relaxing outside. He currently lives peacefully with two cats, has been around children, and is accustomed to spending supervised time outdoors. Milo is carrying extra pounds, so he will need a family who will help him get back to a healthier weight with regular walks and adventures at his own pace. Although he's entering his senior years, don't let his age fool you. As he sheds those extra pounds, we expect he'll become even more active and eager to enjoy time outside with his family. If you're looking for a sweet, laid back companion with the classic Husky good looks and a surprisingly relaxed personality, Milo may be the perfect match for you. Adoption fee is $450+tax, please apply at www.campcompanion.org
