Story
Hello, I'm Thor! I am a 2-year-old male husky. I am current on my vaccines, heartworm tested, mircrochipped, and neutered. 3 words that describe me: Goofy, Smart, Handsome Things staff and volunteers have to say about me: I'm nervous meeting new people, although I seem to prefer women and warm up to them faster. I'm not really food or toy motivated, but I LOVE being with other dogs! I came from the same home as Ryker who has helped me come out of my shell a little bit. My friends at CRHS think I'd do even better in foster, especially with another dog friend to show me the ropes! Activity level/Energy Level: (1-10): 8/10 Housetraining Status: I am very good at keeping my kennel clean, although it may take me some time to adjust to a new potty routine. I should do well in a home: Due to my reliance on other dogs for comfort, I am required to go into a home with another dog. Any children in my potential home will need to be 10 years or older due to my shy nature. I did great with cats in my foster home, given proper introductions. My favorite activities are: Running around outside with Ryker, lounging in a comfy spot, and cuddling up with my favorite people. Things I need work on are: Building confidence and basic commands. Any special needs: N/A Foster Notes: "Thor is the most loving and unique dog I've ever had the pleasure of fostering. He does take time to warm up, but just needs someone willing to give him patience and grace knowing that they will be rewarded with a dog who truly sees you as his best friend. Seeing Thor blossom into such a silly and outgoing boy is an experience that I can't wait for his new family to have. I highly reccommend giving this guy a chance if you need some excitement in your life, or just want to know what unconditional love feels like." Doggy day out notes: "Thor did amazing on his DD outing! He is coming more out of his shell being out with me. Moving slow with him and low activity places are what Thor likes. He is a bit shy but warmed up to me fairly quick. Thor is so much fun to hang out with💙 I have no doubt he will do amazing in a home" "Thor did amazing on his DD outing! He is very curious and loves to sniff on walks and just being out. I've taken him on a few outings and he has really gained confidence and trusting me as his human and the outside world. Super great pup who I love hanging out with💙 He will do great in a home environment!" Daycare Status: N/A My adoption fee is: $300 Training Requirement if applicable: N/A *If you are interested in adopting, please start by filling out an application available on our website and email it to us. https://www.couleehumane.com/adopt-an-animal

Story
Hi, I'm Jaycee! I'm a 2-year-old female husky/shepherd mix. I am current on my vaccines, heartworm tested, spayed, and microchipped. 3 words that describe me: Shy, Curious, Friendly Things staff and volunteers have to say about me: My friends at CRHS believe I possibly could have been used as a breeding dog previously. I am very shy with new people, so I will need a home that's willing to take things at my pace. Once I get comfortable with you I am incredibly sweet. I would do best in a calm environment. Activity level/Energy Level: (1-10): 5 or 6/10 Housetraining Status: I am working on it, but a consistent schedule and lots of praise will help me learn even faster! I should do well in a home: Due to my shy nature any children in my potential home will need to be 8 years or older. I should do fine with other dogs given proper introductions and time to adjust. My friends at CRHS are unsure how I would do with cats. My favorite activities are: Sitting with a human in a calm environment and eating tasty snacks! Things I need work on are: Confidence building, housetraining, basic commands Any special needs: N/A Doggy day out notes: N/A Daycare Status: N/A My adoption fee is: $300 Training Requirement if applicable: N/A *If you are interested in adopting, please start by filling out an application available on our website and email it to us. https://www.couleehumane.com/adopt-an-animal

Story
Hi! It's nice to meet you. I am Odin, I am a 3 year old husky mix who is waiting patiently to find my forever home. I am current on my vaccines, heartworm tested, neutered, and microchipped. 3 words that describe me: Affectionate, goofy, curious Things staff and volunteers have to say about me: My friends at the shelter say I am such a loving guy who despite my rough past has been nothing but a love bug with everyone I meet! Activity level/Energy Level: (1-10): 6/10 Housetraining Status: I am really good at keeping my kennel clean here at the shelter but when I go home I may take a little bit to adjust to a new schedule and routine! I should do well in a home: I should do well in a home with children of all ages. I also should do well in a home with other dogs but I tend to do best with female dogs and may be happier in a home without other male dogs. I would be willing to live with other males but I would be required to meet them here at the shelter before going home! I would also do good living in a home with dog-savvy cats! My favorite activities are: I love to be with my humans, soaking up all of the love. I love giving hugs to my people! I also enjoy playing with my squeaky toys. Things I need work on are: I know how to sit but I would love to learn more! Any special needs: N/A Doggy day out notes: "Odin did great! He is a very stoic pup and he loves observing his surroundings. Car rides were most definitely his highlight. Pup cups are the key to his heart, he is really just the sweetest boy!" "Odin was very well-behaved, had a laid-back, calm disposition, and was really good in the truck and on the trail. Not a puller when on leash; listened well; encountered one other large dog and responded well with no aggression. Odin is just the right size, not to big and not too small, easy to manage and control. He will make some lucky person a great best friend." "He was such a sweetheart, and very social but calm. He loves food and seems to be driven by it. One of the best dogs we have taken out for a Doggy Day Out." Story
Meet Nika! Nika is a Husky who is approximately 2 years old and is ready for a new home! Nika was found as a stray and was not claimed by her family, so unfortunately we don't know what her life was like prior to coming here and we're learning as we go. She keeps her kennel clean, so she is likely potty trained, but as always we recommend a refresher course in a new home so that she can learn the new schedule. She knows sit and likes treats, and she's incredibly social and extroverted! Nika already has a K9 play mate at the shelter and would likely love another dog at home to play with, or even to attend doggy daycare now and then to play with other dog friends! We think she'll do well with kids as long as everyone is properly introduced & supervised. We do not know if Nika has ever met a cat. As anyone who has ever owned huskies knows, Nika will need safe containment anytime she is outside. Huskies are known for their adventurous side and their love of running, so it's not a good idea to have her free roam outside. Utilizing things like fenced yards, leashes & tie outs is a good way to keep her safe from harm. She'll be a wonderful exercise companion for anyone who loves the outdoors and wants a buddy for walking, hiking and running! If you are an outdoorsy, fun, adventurous person who would enjoy the comical companionship of a Husky, Nika would love to meet you! She will be fully vaccinated & spayed prior to adoption. Her adoption fee is $200 We are doing all meet n' greets BY APPOINTMENT ONLY after an adoption application has been approved: https://www.co.monroe.wi.us/home/showpublisheddocument/35564 *Please email this back to us at monroecountydogshelter@gmail.com

Story
Meet Konan! Konan is approximately 4 1/2 years old and is a Husky mix. Unfortunately, Konan was removed from a home after being kept in unlivable conditions and not able to be outside for activity. Because of this, we're hoping to find him a family who can show him just how wonderful life can be! He was kept in a crate that was far too small for him, forcing him to live lying down or stand crouched over. He had parasites and G.I. bacteria, so he was treated immediately upon coming to us so that he could start to feel better. None of this mistreatment or neglect has stopped Konan from LOVING people. He's an absolute sweetheart who loves everyone he meets. One of his favorite things is belly rubs & he's very affectionate. Konan is great at keeping his kennel clean, so we think he'll pick up on the new potty training schedule with consistency and patience. He's playful and will entertain himself with a tennis ball and pile of snow with no complaints. He loves toys, interacting with people, and should do well around dogs given a proper introduction & supervision. (he is not recommended to live with cats due to his prey drive) Konan has a nice moderate energy level, meaning he'd be ideal for someone who wants to be outside to exercise every day, but on a nice day he'd likely love to hang outside in the backyard or snuggle with you on the couch. As most folks with a history of Husky ownership know, it's important that Konan has safe containment anytime he's outside. This breed is famous for being adventurous and clever, so a leash, tie-out or fence is best to keep him safe. One thing to note: Konan has a severe over-bite. While it's one of the cutest things you'll ever see, it's also causing his bottom canines to make contact with the roof of his mouth. We've been working with a vet on our plan for some dental work to ensure Konan has a pain-free mouth for the rest of his life. This will be done prior to his adoption. (and the adorable over-bite will still exist!) Konan has been through so much in his life so far, and we cannot wait to find him someone who loves how goofy and loving this breed can be. If you'd like to meet Konan, we are doing all meet n' greets BY APPOINTMENT ONLY after an adoption application has been generally approved: https://www.co.monroe.wi.us/home/showpublisheddocument/35564 *Please email this application back to monroecountydogshelter@gmail.com Konan is neutered & fully vaccinated. His adoption fee is $200
