Story
Meet Sheeta! She’s a very sweet and loving girl who loves treats and pets. Though she can be skittish at first when meeting people, she warms up very quickly. Need's lots of room to run around and would prefer a home without any animals (cats, dogs). She does have a brother but they aren’t bonded and shouldn’t be in the same home anymore. They have some rising issues which will take time to fix unless you’re willing to put in the effort. But other than that she a great campaign, a little princess who loves to be spoiled!

Story
Introducing Lainey!Lainey is a spunky 1-year-old lab mix with a big personality and plenty of energy to share! She loves nothing more than running and playing -- her favorite way to burn off some steam. As for other dogs, Lainey is selective about her canine friends. While Lainey has always been friendly toward people, she didn't always feel comfortable following their lead. With patience and love, she's learning to trust and is now beginning to enjoy the path her humans guide her on. Watching her grow more confident every day is a joy!Lainey would thrive in a home with plenty of activity to match her energy and a family that will continue to help her blossom. Another dog might be a possibility; however, we think Lainey would prefer to be the only dog. At a glance:-Lainey is approximately 1 year old as of the summer of 2025-lab mix-Loves: Playtime, gaining trust with her humans-Personality: Energetic, fun, sweet, learning to shineCould Lainey be the perfect new addition to your family? Story
FLUFF recently turned a year old and is very friendly and playful. Gorgeous and good with all dogs he's been around. He was returned after 4 months after very torn feelings from his adopter. He's reportedly a wonderful, friendly, great dog, and his only issue is that he was becoming destructive in the crate when they'd leave the home. He'd find a way to move the crate near things he could get into and chew on whenever they were leaving him. If people are home when he's crated, he seemed to do fine, like overnights. But if they crated him and left the house, he was getting very anxious, and as they adopted him as a puppy, they definitely wanted to crate him when they left to ensure he wouldn't get into mischief. They feel he'd do better with someone who's around home more often. He loves cats and his "yes" he's good with cats comes with a "but"... he can be a little rough playing with them at times, but never with an inch of aggression. With a dog-savvy cat, he'd likely be fine. He loves chew toys, especially chew rings, and enjoys walks with minimal pulling, as well as car rides. Fully vetted. 👉 Adoption fee INCLUDES: all vetting to age (including deworming, flea & tick etc), spay/neuter and microchip (if the dog is under 6 months, alter and chip will occur after they're 6 months, covered in full at our clinic or reimbursed partially at a vet of your choosing). If the dog is older than 6 months and not yet altered, we will schedule ASAP (normally within 30 days) at our clinic . We also provide as an incentive a $60 rebate for completion of positive-based training classes. Adoption also includes lifetime support of the rescue. 💜 Please click PURPLE BUTTON above to apply or go to www.secondhanddogrescue.com/apply ! ✍ APPLICATION PROCESSING: We do most application processing virtually and dog meets will be individually by appointment with ONLY APPROVED APPLICANTS. We are not a shelter and are completely volunteer foster-based, so there is no central place to come see all of the dogs available. 📌IMPORTANT NOTES: ** Housetraining with rescues is sometimes a work in progress and even if a dog is 100% in a foster's home, it should be expected there will be an adjustment period as a dog adapts to a new environment. This is even more true if the dog has not by chance had their altering appointment at time of adoption. ** Also, we highly recommend some form of 2-week shutdown and decompression for dogs going to a new home for best results. --> Lastly, breed guesses in rescue are just that (GUESSES!!) 99.9% of the time. We do not do DNA testing and our breed guesses are based on appearance and sometimes other traits, but we know the dog breed guessing game is a fool's errand even for those with LOTS of experience. 🗺 ADOPTION AREA: several hour radius of Rochester, NY (Canada within 3 hours IS allowed, except that young puppies need to be old enough to have gotten their rabies vaccination to cross the border - usually around 16 weeks)
