Meet Sam! This handsome guy recently came to us as a stray, and we are still getting to know him. So far Sam is a very happy, playful guy and has been fast friends with staff! Sam is an active boy and very food driven; he already knows some basic skills like "sit" and would love to continue learning through positive reinforcement based training! Sam has done well with other dogs and may appreciate a doggy playmate at home to keep him busy. He would do best in a home without cats. If you have other animals in your home, we recommend bringing them in to do a meet and greet before taking Sam home. Meet Shira! This pretty mama came to us with her two sons as strays. We aren't sure how this furry family ended up on the streets, but Shira is ready for the next chapter of her life! It seems Shira has been used for litter after litter, and she is ready for a fresh start learning how to be a normal dog instead of a mom. She is a playful girl and loves being outside! She absolutely loves squeaky toys, tennis balls, or anything else toy shaped. Shira does well with other dogs. Available for adoption at: Muskingum County K-9 Adoption Center 1854 East Pike, Zanesville, Ohio 43701 740-453-0273 Open Tues-F 11-5, Saturday 11-4, Sunday 10-3. Closed on Monday. Adoption fee is $130 which includes spay/neuter, combo, rabies, and bordetella vaccines, heartworm test and dog license. (Although some of the dogs come to the pound spayed or neutered, most do not. If you adopt a dog that has not yet been spayed/neutered, we will set up an appointment for the dog to be spayed/neutered before it can leave the facility.)

Hi, My name is Bear! I came here in May of 2026. I am very social, friendly, and affectionate. I also love to run and play! I have lots of other dog friends here, and seem to like them all regardless of size. I don't seem to mind cats. I think I would make a great faimly dog. I am still working on my manners here, and pull, well, like a husky! But I am very smart and food-motivated and get better everyday. I have been to some events here and did very well meeting people polietly and riding in the car. Being in a shelter is a big change for me, and I hope I can be out of here soon!
