Story
This dapper, older gentleman is Neko. He is 14 years old and was surrendered to the shelter because one of his owners passed away and the other is unable to care for him. Neko is a wonderful boy. He walks well on a leash and is so friendly. He was a dream getting his glamour shots taken and is quite the poser. Neko weighs 64 pounds and has already been neutered. Once an application is approved, he is ready to go home! Get your application in on his handsome guy today! If you are interested, you can fill out an application online at https://www.hsop.org/copy-of-adoption-application * Please note that PetFinder Inquiries do not count as applications, and we often do not see them. Story
Even if you missed the recent phenomenon, you can bring home your own Eclipse! This one is a 5 year old female husky who would love to join your home. She is super easy to walk on the leash, loves (LOVES!) attention from the staff and volunteers and appears dog friendly based on her on leash behavior. She came to us underweight but is putting on those pounds (at least one of those I can claim from the treats!). Eclipse may need altered before going home, but applications an still be accepted. Story
This pair of handsome explorers (Marco and Polo) were on an unauthorized expedition (unbeknownst to their family) when they were picked up on State Route 26 in Washington County Ohio by a Good Samaritan and brought to the safety of our shelter on March 3, 2024. Neither of the boys were wearing a collar, and they were not microchipped. Polo (pictured on the left) is a 2-1/2 year old male Husky. He has a tan-and-white thick medium haired coat, a long fluffy tail, and a beautiful face with blue eyes, a liver-colored nose, and large erect ears. Polo is the smaller of the duo and weighs 54.4 lbs. Thanks to HSOV Kennel Tech Cadince Bibbee for accompanying Polo for his photo session. Polo has a super friendly personality and is full of playful puppy-like energy. Marco (pictured on the right) is a 2-1/2 year old male Husky. He has a darker tan-and-white medium haired coat, a long fluffy tail, and an adorable face with blue eyes, a liver-colored nose, and large erect ears. Marco is the larger of the pair and weighs 81.4 lbs. Thanks to HSOV Lead Canine Kennel Tech Jared Nash for accompanying Marco for his photo session. Marco was quickly 'sitting pretty' for Jared and obeying his every command. Marco is super friendly as well as playful. Marco and Polo will be held for three days so that their family will have an opportunity to reclaim them with proof of ownership. Surely someone is frantically searching for these majestic boys. UPDATE: Surprisingly nobody called or came looking for Polo and Marco. Marco went home with a foster family on March 23, 2024 who plans to adopt him after he is neutered. Marco was neutered on April 2, 2024 and was also given rabies vaccine. Polo is still in our shelter and available for adoption.

Story
Polo is a handsome 2-1/2 year old male Husky who was brought to the HSOV on March 3, 2024 by a Good Samaritan who had picked him up on State Route 26 in Washington County. Polo was accompanied by another male Husky (Marco). Apparently these two explorers were on an unauthorized expedition (unbeknownst to their family). Neither of the boys were wearing a collar, and they were not microchipped. Polo has a tan-and-white thick medium haired coat, a long fluffy tail, and a beautiful face with pale blue eyes, a liver-colored nose, and large erect ears. Thanks to HSOV Kennel Tech Cadince Bibbee for accompanying Polo and helping him with his photo session. Polo has a super friendly personality and is full of playful puppy-like energy. Polo is the smaller of the duo and weighs 54.4 lbs. Polo and Marco will be held for three days so that their family will have an opportunity to reclaim them with proof of ownership. Polo and Marco appear to be very bonded with each other. Story
Gypsy is a cute 8-month old female Husky/Shepherd mix who was surrendered by her owner on April 6, 2024 because he was unable to keep Gypsy because of housing issues. This little sweetheart has a gray short smooth coat with tan shading throughout her coat and also on her chest/legs, a long curled tail, and an adorable (rather mischievous-looking) face with dark brown eyes, a slender muzzle, and super-sized large erect/semi-erect ears. Gypsy was full of playful puppy antics when HSOV Kennel Tech Hannah McClain spent time with her outdoors for her photo session on April 6th. Gypsy was intrigued by one of our smaller outdoor shelter mascot kitties and only had eyes for the kitty instead of the camera, so Kennel Tech Madison Lee enticed Gypsy to focus on a squeaky toy instead .. And it worked for awhile (smile). Her owner indicated that Gypsy is good with children, and that she is also good with other animals (not sure if that includes cats as well as dogs). Gypsy is still perfecting her housetraining skills and has occasional accidents. Gypsy currently weighs 31 lbs and walked fairly well on a leash for Hannah. Gypsy will likely be a rather petite girl when she reaches maturity. Gypsy will be spayed before being adopted by her new family. She could be fostered-to-adopt with an approved HSOV adoption/foster application.

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Alakai is a beautiful boy seeking a family to help him gain some confidence in this big world! When Alakai came to us, he was terrified of everything. Leashes, other dogs, any sound you could think of it was all too much for him. We are very slowly making progress, but he is going to take a lot of time to come around and learn how to be a normal dog. He will need some help learning his basic commands and manners. Continued reward-based training would benefit him greatly. He will need a patient and loving family who will go slowly with him and allow him to do things at his own pace. With any fearful dog, we believe he shouldn't be left unsupervised while going outside to potty as he could be a flight risk. We are hoping that once he gets away from the stress of the shelter, he will be a completely different dog. If you have other animals in your home, we recommend bringing them in to do a meet and greet before taking Alakai home. If you are interested in meeting Alakai, please submit an adoption form on our website: fairfieldcountydogs.com and we will contact you to arrange a time to visit. Primary Color: White Secondary Color: Brown Weight: 48.25 Age: 1yrs 5mths 4wks
