Story
🐺 Amren – The Quiet Husky (Yes, Really)Meet Amren, a 1-year-old husky who has completely shattered every stereotype we thought we knew. We expected dramatic howls, operatic protests, and full-on husky commentary… but instead, Amren has turned out to be the chillest dog around here. Vaccines? Took them like a champ. Loud husky serenades? Still waiting to hear one.Amren is wonderfully independent and loves spending time outside, taking in the fresh air and exploring at his own pace. He enjoys the company of staff and volunteers and has formed some sweet, quiet bonds with the people he trusts.Amren’s Ideal Home:Someone who appreciates a more easygoing husky and enjoys outdoor time. He’d do great with a person or family who respects his independent streak while still including him in their daily life.Give us a call at (740) 314-5583 for more information!ADOPTION APPLICATION:All adoption applications are completed at the shelter unless otherwise noted.FOSTER APPLICATION:Want to be a hero for a homeless animal in need? Story
Meet COOPER, an almost 5 year old Siberian Husky who found himself at the Harrison County Dog Pound in Cadiz, OH when his family could no longer care for him. His world may have changed, but COOPER is trying not to let it affect that big Husky smile or his rather impressive opinion of himself. COOPER lived with a little child and was very good with and tolerant of him. Like any respectable gentleman, he does have his limits, though, and when the small human exceeded COOPERs daily allotment of nonsense, hed give a bark to say the days festivities needed to come to a conclusion. COOPER loves cats, maybe too enthusiastically for some felines since he enjoys chasing them to play, unaware that some cats dont appreciate a recreational activity that includes being chased by a big Siberian Husky. When it comes to other dogs, COOPER does better with calm canines who dont have to run the show. The crown in COOPERs imaginary kingdom fits his head perfectly so why should he share it? A meetngreet with your dog will be necessary. With people, COOPER is a social butterfly. He loves making new friends. No reason to be aloof if it means there are more humans to shower him with attention. COOPER does seem to suffer a bit from a breed identity crisis. Someone might have to explain to him that hes a Husky, not a Beagle. Put that nose to the ground and hell sniff, follow, and investigate every last scent as if he was hired by the FBIs Canine Forensics Unit. COOPER is energetic and strong, and loves to run. A 4 foot fence is less of a barrier and more of a minor inconvenience. He can scale one with ease, so his future family needs to make sure he will have a secure way to enjoy the outdoors. Large and in charge, consider adding COOPER to your family. Hes housebroken and scheduled to be neutered this month. Harrison County Dog Pound. 82900 Toot Rd. Cadiz, OH 43950. Open: Monday-Friday from 10am-4pm; Saturday 9am-2pm; closed Sundays and holidays. Adoption applications are available at the pound or online at harrisoncountydogpoundvolunteers.org. Apple users must submit application using Google, not Safari. Out of state adoptions are welcomed. $40 adoption fee

FB world meet Ol’ blue eyes, Frank Sinatra. He is an amazing, easy, 2 year old Siberian husky mix. He walks well on a leash, is housebroken, and crate trained. This guy is a charmer, just like his namesake. He gets along with men, women, kids, cats, and other dogs. He was found running the streets of WV, but could not be a happier, sweeter guy. Story
Layla is kind, feisty, and goofy. She loves meeting new people, loves to rest her head on your lap, and loves attention! Sometimes she forgets she’s not a lapdog 😂 She is fun, energetic and LOVES the outdoors! A fence is critical for her as she can stay outside for hours enjoying the breeze of a nice day. Layla loves to use her energy running in the backyard and playing with other dogs. Layla is 62% Siberian Husky so she has lots of energy to burn throughout the day—however every night around 8 pm, she turns in for the night and curls up with her humans or on the floor close by to get a pre-bedtime rest in. Layla would be best in a no-kid or an older kid home. Layla struggles when little kids hang on her/sit on her. She’s a girl who likes her space and doesn’t like to be overwhelmed or chased by littles. Otherwise, Layla LOVES people! We love Layla dearly and are looking for someone to love her fiercely—because Layla will love you fiercely in return and will be your best pal.
