Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Ellie Mae Siberian Husky | Female | Spayed | Born April 29, 2021 | 36 lbs | Vaccines Up To Date Ellie Mae is a striking young Siberian Husky with icy blue eyes and a deeply independent spirit. Rescued from an abusive past, Ellie is learning how to trust and navigate the human world. She’s loving and affectionate with adults and older children who understand canine boundaries—but she’s not a fit for small kids, cats, or livestock. Ellie is leash trained, crate trained, and knows several commands (sit, shake, speak, lay, and “go to your cage”). She loves belly rubs, car rides, and getting the zoomies! She's afraid of storms and loves watching TV with family! That said, she doesn't like being touched near her back hips and can be snippy if startled or approached too quickly. She has a strong prey drive and is not safe around chickens, ducks, or cats. Ellie can be food aggressive and needs to be fed separately. While she may get along with some dogs, she prefers calm companions and does best when others respect her space. Ellie Mae will thrive in a home with routine, structure, and someone with experience in dog behavior. She’s not a beginner’s dog—but she is a diamond in the rough for the right person willing to help her shine. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Raven! Born November 12, 2023, Raven is a spayed husky mix who's ready to bring energy, joy, and a little sass into your life! She’s up to date on all vaccines, microchipped, and Lyme-negative—healthy and ready for her next adventure. Raven is full of life and loves to play, especially with toys and a good game of tug. She’s definitely on the hyper side (as young husky mixes often are), but her sweetness and eagerness to connect shine through. She can be a little cautious at first, but she settled in quickly at the shelter and has been charming everyone since. She does well with adults, older kids, and larger dogs—but she’s not a fan of cats or small dogs. True to her breed, she’s curious and alert, but we’ve only heard her signature husky bark a couple of times so far. With her striking looks, playful spirit, and loyal heart, Raven is looking for a home that understands her energy and can offer the structure and space she needs to thrive. She’s the kind of dog who will pick her person—and once she does, it’s a bond for life. **WE ARE CURRENTLY DOING ADOPTIONS BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. YOU MUST CALL TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT IF YOU'RE INTERESTED IN ADOPTING. PLEASE LEAVE US A VOICEMAIL IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO REACH US. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE AND UNDERSTANDING.- CCDP STAFF** Hi there. My name is Derringer. I'm 1 year old and I weigh about 55 lbs. I was surrendered to the pound after multiple incidents of me and the other dogs I lived with running at large and causing issues in our neighborhood. We are all good dogs, but we haven't been well trained, so we will need a little work on things like basic recall and basic commands. We were all house dogs and we appear to be housebroken. We do well with most other dogs, but definitely will need a families without cats as we do not do well with them. We all love to play and we are super good dogs once we have had our exercise. If you're looking for a sweet dog to add to your family, please consider adopting me. Our adoption fee is $152. We accept cash, check or credit/ debit cards for adoption fees. If you pay using a credit or debit card, a convenience fee of 2.39% will also be applied. If paying by check, you will need 2. One Check will be for the dog license, and one will be for your dog's adoption fee, which includes heartworm testing (for dogs 6 months of age old and older), parvo/distemper vaccine, rabies vaccine, bordetella vaccine, 3 days of panacur de-wormer, spay or neuter surgery, microchip, and a current Ohio dog license. We DO offer foster to adopt. (We will NOT accept cash for foster to adopt). We highly recommend you do a foster to adopt with your new dog if you are not 100% sure your new dog is going to work out in your home. Foster to adopt gives you a couple of weeks with the dog to make sure they are a good fit with your family before your payment is processed and the adoption is finalized. ALL DOGS/PUPPIES WILL BE SPAYED OR NEUTERED unless a health issue prohibits the surgery from being performed. Not all dogs posted for adoption are spayed/ neutered yet. If you're driving a long distance to adopt, please verify that the vetting process has been completed and dog you're interested in adopting is still available for adoption. The above mentioned vetting is all included in your adoption fee. The adoption fee and what is included in the adoption fee is NON-NEGOTIABLE. Adoptions MUST be done at the pound and in person as there is paperwork to fill out and an adoption contract that must be signed by the adopter. This means you must be willing to travel to our shelter to adopt. If the dog you're interested in adopting has medical conditions or injuries which require medical treatment, we ask that you help with the medical bills, in addition to their adoption fee if possible so we can continue to help the dogs coming in who need additional vet care. We are a county run shelter, therefore we cannot control our intake or the health or behavior of the dogs that come in to our shelter. Although we try our hardest to place all of our adoptable dogs, there are certain circumstances in which any dog in our care could be euthanized at any time and without further notice (IE: sudden untreatable medical condition or injury, temperament or behavioral problems which may not be apparent when the dog first arrives, etc.), therefore all dogs at our shelter should be considered urgent. We try our absolute hardest to never have to euthanize for space and have not had to do so for many years thanks to the ongoing support from the public and high adoption rates. Please remember; the adoption of a more highly adoptable dog will mean more time for the less adoptable dog in the kennel next to him! Shelter hours are Monday-Friday: 8 am- 4 pm. Saturday, Sunday and holidays: 8 am - 12 pm. Adoptions are always welcome any day of the week/ weekend and on holidays. We are here everyday to care for the dogs and the best way to make our day is to see our dogs go to loving families. There is nobody in the office on Saturday, Sunday or holidays, so therefore, we are unable to answer or return phone calls over the weekend. We are only staffed to take care of the dogs and do adoptions over the weekends/ on holidays. Can't adopt a dog? We would love to have more volunteers who are able to spend time with our dogs! The dogs LOVE going for walks and the socialization and exercise helps make the dogs more adoptable. Story
"not the mama, NOT the mama!!" Anyone remember the cute dinosaur show from the early 2000's?? Well, we said that so many times to our "bottle baby fosters" they just didn't know what to do with us :) But they kept feeding us, waking up at all hours of the night and making sure we were fed and happy and loved..... SO, we are growing quickly and getting ready for our furever families!! Not the mama goes to the wayside when we meet you :D We are happy go lucky pups, Bear Bear is more sensitive than his sisters, he was the shyest pup but has come out of his shell, he is the one who will cuddle with you (until someone else wants to play). Sissies Lioness and Cheeta are spicy girls, loving and playful and Lioness likes to hang out behind things and then cry for help to get out.... or she cries because she is alone, OR she cries because no one has gotten her yet! Cheeta is more independent but will let you hold her and cuddle for about 10 min and then it is back to exploring and playing with her siblings :) As their foster moms, we love these little turds and pray they find the right homes for them. Active and adventurous for the girls and more laid back for Bear! ADOPT....DON'T SHOP!!! WE cannot save more without adoptions!! Local adoption fee is $250 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $550 (includes transport to your area)

Story
Who doesn’t love Husky mix puppies!? These adorable fluffballs are as cute as they come — full of personality, playful howls, and endless cuddles! They absolutely love attention and want to be near their people as much as possible. Their favorite things include snuggling in your lap, carrying around their stuffies, and chasing after balls (though some are better at fetching than others!). Their mom is a beautiful white Husky mix, and while we’re not sure who dad is, these pups definitely inherited the best traits — charm, curiosity, and sweetness. They’re ready to bring joy, laughter, and a bit of happy chaos to their forever families! Local adoption fee is $250(in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $550 (includes transport to your area)

Story
Haku means "pure" in Japanese! I was named for my pure, passionate and overwhelming love for everyone around me! I came to the rescue when my dad was stationed in Japan and heartbroken that he couldn't take me with him. I've missed him so much ever since! Everyday I do the things I did with him with other dogs so I can try and remember what it felt like to be with him! But it's just not the same. So, I'm hoping a new family can come scoop me up and show me what it feels like to be a part of a home and family again! I am good with other dogs, I love playing chase with them or tugging on chew toys. I'll need a happy and active home so that my life will be full of love and fun! I am a bit anxious and nervous around new people, and people in general! Slow introductions, a safe space I can retreat to like a crate and not forcing me into spaces with tons of people will help me be myself all the time! Haku can only be adopted in the local or TX area. Local adoption only, in San Antonio or TX area, $200.
