Story
Meet Kaine! He is a sweet, adventurous young boy. He is timid at first, a bit nervous of new people but when he's comfortable his true personality shines through. Kaine loves to play fetch in the yard, and enjoys zooming around. He is a highly intelligent boy, and is super trainable. He may have some silly puppy moments but is easily redirected with treats and positive reinforcement. Kaine enjoys the company of other canine companions, and plays very nicely with all of the dogs he has interacted with in the shelter. That being said, he would do best in a house with either one female dog or by himself. He has not had any interaction with cats.Kaine has been microchipped, neutered, and is up to date on vaccinations. Story
Meet Jack!Jack is a goofy, energetic boy who loves to play! He is very shy at first, but he comes around quickly and has lots of love to give. Jack loves other dogs, and they really help to bring him out of his shell. His favourite pastimes are playing outside with the shelter volunteers and greeting the public at the front desk, where he enjoys giving the staff hugs while they work. While he doesn't know any tricks yet, Jack is eager to learn! He walks well on a leash and is able to entertain himself when he does not actively have a playmate. Jack would do well in any home that can meet his exercise needs, although due to his timidness with new people he would likely enjoy older kids who can respect any boundaries that he may give them.Jack has been neutered, had his rabies vaccine and is up to date on his other vaccinations. If you are interested in meeting Jack, call 705-878-4618 or email @hskl.ca

Story
Sky (bonded with Luke) was returned to us due to no fault of his own. He is a very active boy who would do well in a active home and loves to be outside! His buddy Luke has lived with him for several years and they do a great job keeping each other active. He and Luke would benefit from regular exercise and obedience training. That being said, they are both very smart and eager to learn. In their last home he lived with kids 12 + and we would recommend him being in a home that has kids that old or older. Sky won't do well in a home that has cats.Sky is not a fan of being crated but with the proper exercise will sleep a lot as happy dogs do. Husky experience is preferred with this young fellow! Sky also suffers from separation anxiety and will need a stay-at-home guardian to help him feel more confident. More information on Sky from his previous experience with us:Sky is a beautiful and comical Husky that came into our care through no fault of his own.He recently spent some time in a foster home so we could see how he did in a non-shelter environment. With a couple of good walks a day, he was content to lounge on his bed. He heels well once the initial energy is gone and the foster home indicated he was great with toys and treats. We can put you in touch with his former foster dad on training/walking techniques he used as he is dog savvy. Unfortunately, he had to be gone from home a lot currently and Sky wasn't keen on being in a crate as he wants to be with people or out enjoying the weather. He had a slow introduction to an older laid back dog in the home and did well they walked together a lot. He also met the neighbour's dogs through the fence and showed great play body language. If you have another dog a meet and greet is mandatory here at the shelter outside. No cats/small animals please as huskies can have a prey drive. Sky has a lot of energy and is very true to his breed. He is confident, smart, active and goofy. Sky also suffers from separation anxiety and will need a stay-at-home guardian to help him feel more confident. Sky has been with us a while, as we learned more about him and have been doing some basic training, he has pretty decent leash manners and loves to sit, shake a paw and get treats for being such a good boy! He is super smart and would enjoy a busy life with learning new things. The best home for him is one with a high, fully fenced yard, indoor/outdoor access to a yard and a true husky lover with a lot of experience.
