Story
Cato was abandoned at a grooming/boarding shop. He had spent months there with almost no outside time or socialization before I found him. I've been fostering him since June. He is mellow, well behaved, house trained, knows at least sit/paw/lay down. His recall is good most of the time. He has been friendly and loving with all people we meet. We have been approached by other dogs and he was okay, but I can't vouch for him being in a multi pet home.He is 8 years old, and just needs a solid, loving home.

Story
I have had Max 3 years, he’s 4 years old. He’s 40lbs. He is very silly, sweet and loyal. He has lots of energy, is insanley stubborn, and is very anxious and skittish. He lived on base with someone in the military before I adopted him so he’s scared of a lot of things (especially loud noises, thunderstorms, fireworks). I am not sure they treated him very well because he is afraid of men, but can warm up to them. He would like to not be the only dog in the household, as he LOVES other dogs. My pitty socialized him pretty well. He really needs space to run and roam.

Story
We took Duke in from our friends brother. Duke spent 23 out of 24 hours a day in a crate because the owner wasn’t allowed to have him in the house. He was terribly infested with fleas, so I couldn’t let him stay there. Unfortunately I just didn’t know what all was involved in taking care of a husky. He is a great dog. He loves people and other dogs! Our home is very small and he is rather large. He lives outside but we feel like he deserves a better home with more attention for him. He also needs a groomer to handle his coat that is not in the best shape. We can’t afford that and he strongly dislikes any touching on his backside. Other than that he’s not a hard dog. He’s stubborn by nature as that comes with the breed, but he would make any one that has the time for him so happy!

Story
Please contact Judy (paxtonj@live.com), (865) 300-8146 for more information about this pet.Almost Home believes that every animal deserves a loving home regardless of appearance, age, or physical limitation.  We have come together to give animals in need the safe and happy life they all deserve.  Almost Home Animal Rescue believes that no animal is expendable.  Adopting a friend:The animals, lucky enough to find refuge with Almost Home, are all in loving foster homes. If you are interested in the possibility of giving one of the animals a new lease on life, please contact us. The contact information is listed at the end of each biography.  What you need to do to adopt:If you would like to adopt a pet in need from Almost Home, basically, an application must be filled out. We will check two personal references and a vet reference. If you are approved for adoption, there is a trial period of about one week to make sure this is the animal for you and you are the person for the animal. Along with the trial period, a contract must be signed that basically states that if ever you cannot keep the animal that you must return the animal to Almost Home. Last but not least, a home check will be done. Meet & Greets:An approved application is required. This does not mean that you have to adopt but that you are approved to do so if everything works out. Since we are foster based, this limits the amount of people coming to our homes.  Lexi is a gorgeous two-year-old husky mix with one blue eye. Her elderly owner must give her up because Lexi recently became very food aggressive with her canine companion and there was a dog fight. Her owner is not able to handle this behavior. Both dogs are now crated in different rooms. She is taking no chances it will happen again. This is a difficult situation for the owner and she must find a new home for her ASAP. Lexi is an alpha girl and will do best as the only dog or with a male dog her size or larger. A larger female might work, too. She is a very sweet and well-behaved girl. She knows basic commands and loves people. She needs a home with someone who will appreciate all these good qualities and work with her to make sure this never happens again. An active person who will take her on rides in the car and on long walks will be a plus. Fenced in yard for running needed. Lexi is spayed, up-to-date on shots, and micro-chipped. Contact Judy at judy@almosthometn.org or 865-300-8146 if you would like to foster or give Lexi a great new home. Guest posting by JP Nov. 28, 2023.ADOPTION FEE: The adoption fee for a cat is $85. The adoption fee for a kitten is $100. The adoption fee does include the kittens being fixed and their rabies shot when they are old enough through one of our local vets. The adoption fee for a dog is $200. The adoption fee for a puppy is $250. The adoption fee does include the puppies being fixed and their rabies shot when they are old enough through one of our local vets. Mature pet adoption fees are sometimes reduced. The adoption fee for pure bred dogs and cats will vary due to health and age of pet. This helps support our ill animals and our mutts that get left in the system longer. We do reserve the right to change the fees higher or lower due to the circumstance of the animal but what was stated above are the usual adoption fees.  Microchipped pets will have a higher adoption fee.  Our adoption fees do not cover the cost of the vetting and care the animal has received with us and if it ever does, the money just goes back it to helping other animals in need. December 11, 2023, 2:57 pm
