COCO**1 YEAR OLD HUSKY MIX**42 POUNDS**FEMALE Coco is being fostered in the Richmond, VA area. If you are interested in Coco, please go to www.momsva.org and complete an application. Meet Coco, a 1-year-old,42 lbs, husky/lab mix being fostered in Richmond, VA. Coco is an adorable one-year-old pup with a gentle, loving spirit. Although she may initially be shy, once she feels secure, her affectionate and loyal nature shines through. Coco loves to go on walks and adventures, as well as play outside and chase after balls. Coco would do best as an only dog where she can build confidence at her own pace. Coco has begun day care and is learning to meet new dog friends and people. Her journey has been challenging. After being rescued, it became apparent that cataracts had severely impacted her vision throughout her young life. Thankfully, she has received successful surgery that has restored her sight. Now, experiencing the world clearly for the first time, Coco is looking for a compassionate and understanding person who can help her navigate her shyness and create a safe environment for her to flourish. The right family will be vital in helping her adjust, making patience and gentle encouragement key to her successful transition into her new life. If you're ready to welcome a loyal companion who needs a little extra love, Coco could be the perfect fit for you! Please visit MOMSVA.ORG to complete an adoption application for Coco.

Story
If you love herding breeds but can’t choose which kind to adopt, Punkies is your guy! His genetic mix includes Border Collie, Australian Shepherd, Cattle Dog, and Sheepdog—all rolled into one amazing pup. Punkies is a 3 year old, 40 lb clown in a dog suit. This goofy guy is very entertaining, cuddly and enjoys hanging with his family, which includes two adult humanoids, two border collies and a German shepherd. Punkies is a confident and friendly lad, but as with many youngsters he can be a bit shy with new people at first; however, he warms up quickly. One of Punkies’ most charming traits is his love of ‘talking,’ a playful hint that he also has a bit of a husky heritage. He can even be a bit argumentative at times. His new family should be prepared for many comical conversations with him. Punkies has a moderate energy level that fits perfectly with family-friendly routines and activities. With his balanced energy, Punkies is an ideal match for an active yet easygoing family lifestyle. He is able to stay home without anxiety issues and lavishes his humans with affection when they return. Because his genetics have given him an inherited "herdiness" Punkies ideal family match would be one with older, dog-savvy children who can understand and respect his need to round them up - a talent that is great for mom when dinner is ready! Since being in foster care, Punkies has learned to enjoy toys and play nicely with other dogs, making him a wonderful all-around companion. His intelligence, athleticism and herding instincts also make him a great prospect for sporting or herding activities for those who want to take things to the next level with him. Punkies is best suited to a home with people having a basic understanding of herding behavior (or who are willing to learn) and who have a good size fenced yard for off leash exercise. Punkies is crate trained, neutered, heartworm negative, up-to-date on vaccinations, on monthly heartworm, tick & flea preventives! Punkies is being fostered in New Port News, VA by Atlantic Region Central Border Collie Rescue. If you would like more information on Punkies you can email mcclellanka@gmail.com or apply to adopt below.

Story
Fen has spent far too many days watching the world from the end of a chain. When his owner moved away, this 6-year-old Lab/Husky mix was left behind on a lonely tie-out at an empty house, cared for only by kind neighbors who refused to let him be forgotten. They shared that Fen once lived indoors, but as his owner’s health declined, Fen’s life slowly shrank to neglect and isolation. Despite it all, Fen’s heart remains wide open.   This sweet boy is full of gentle enthusiasm and gratitude for every bit of attention. The moment he’s free to stretch his legs, Fen lights up — he loves to run, play, and feel the joy of simply being a dog again. He already knows how to sit, walks well on a leash, and shows just how smart and willing he is to listen and learn. Fen wants so badly to connect with people; he leans in for affection like he’s been saving up years of love to give.   Because he’s been forced to live outside for so long, he may need a little patience while relearning house manners and routine — but he’s had a home before, and he’s eager to understand again. Fen is currently underweight, a visible reminder of how he’s been failed, but also a hopeful sign of how much better his future can be with someone who truly cares.   Fen isn’t broken. He’s loving, loyal, and ready to bloom in the hands of a family who will never leave him behind again. All he needs now is a warm place to land, steady meals, and the promise that he’ll always belong.   PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comJanuary 20, 2026, 9:56 pm
