Story
How this pet arrived: Sweater was brought in by our Humane Law Enforcement team on December 26, 2024. Why this pet is the one for you:Meet Sweater, a shy little snugglebug-in-training! This sweet pup came to us with a big group of dogs, so he's most comfortable around other furry friends and would love a canine sibling to show him the ropes. People are a little scary for Sweater right now-he's still learning that humans can be just as wonderful as dogs! With slow introductions, patience, and lots of kindness, he'll warm up in his own time. Sweater needs a calm home with kids over 8 who can respect his boundaries. Grooming? Let's save that for when he's feeling confident and can work with a trusted handler. If you've got the heart to help Sweater bloom, he's ready to be your quiet, cuddly companion. Fill out the interest form today! At SDHS:This pet has been vaccinated, microchipped and spayed/neutered. This pet is now ready for their new home!Shy/Fearful Dog: This pet requires a virtual behavior consult, please watch THIS video to learn more about them. COURTESY POST - WE ARE COURTESY POSTING TO HELP FIND SPOC A FOREVER HOME Spoc was saved from a local shelter. He is not in need of a foster or loving forever home. I LOVE to go on walks. Will you take me? Twice a day, please, for at least 30 minutes each time. At around 7 years old and 20 pounds, I am potty trained, good with other dogs, use the doggie door, and am crate trained. My cutest feature? It’s when my lip gets shtuck on my gums, whish is almosht all the time thince my teeth are gone. I have bonded well to my Foster Mom and I let her touch me any time, but it took months for me to feel safe with her. I need someone who has a quiet home and is patient with me so I can come out of my shell and be your best friend and learn that there ARE good humans out there! I've heard that there is nothing better than having a dog like me and watching them bloom into a happy dog. I want to be that happy dog - will you help me? Please? I was found in pretty bad shape, terrified and very afraid of any humans. Will you be my hero? Fill out an application today! Story
At first glance, Jax may seem a little nervous and even a bit shy, but spend a little time with this handsome guy, and you'll discover a loyal companion who will stick by your side through thick and thin. Jax is a smart boy who knows his surroundings and the people around him. He needs time and space to feel comfortable and confident in a new environment, but once he feels safe, his affectionate side emerges, and he'll be your best friend. He absolutely loves other dogs and would do amazing in a house with another furry friend. Watching other dogs teaches him so much, which will help the desensitization process of the home environment immensely. He will be dragging a leash until you can interact with him comfortably and will need a crate to keep a structured schedule. Once he settles in, though, he loves to lounge in the sun and cuddle at your feet! With his smarts, loyalty, and adorable nervousness, Jax will melt your heart and fill your home with love. If you can give Jax the love and care he needs, please meet him today! Give him a chance, and you will not regret it!

Story
I’m reaching out in the hope that you can help me find a loving home for my 2-year-old Jack Russell Terrier, Gracie. Gracie is a special dog with a wonderful personality. She was rescued as a puppy in Mexico and has grown into a smart, affectionate, and lively companion. She thrives in an active environment and loves attending doggie daycare twice a week, where she enjoys socializing and burning off her energy. Gracie forms a strong bond with her primary person and is gently protective, occasionally barking when she’s nervous or scared. With patience and reassurance, she’s been improving in this area. She will do best with a patient, loving family who can give her the time and stability to settle in and feel secure. Due to my upcoming retirement, recently diagnosed autoimmune disease and relocation overseas, I’ve made the difficult decision to rehome her. This decision was not made lightly, and I am committed to finding her the perfect family who will love her as much as I do.

Story
Meet Wetzels Pretzels! Wetzels Pretzels entered the San Diego Humane Society as a stray. When she wasn't claimed, we scooped her up on October 29th to become a Frosted Face. She is about 12 years old, weighs 12 lbs., and is a sweet little granny. While at the shelter, Wetzels Pretzels had hernia repair surgery and a dental that included the extraction of 9 teeth. She is feeling so much better after having those medical issues addressed and is ready for her new life! Wetzels Pretzels has been on two Frosted Flings, and we have learned a lot about what she is like in a home environment. In short, she is an all-around good girl who does great with cats and other dogs! Wetzels Pretzels is such a joy to have around that her fling home has turned into a foster home! Here is the full report from her Foster Mom: "Weztels Pretzels paid a visit to Santa and asked for a forever family for herself and her frosted friends, since they've all been such good boys and girls this year. In fact, she's been such a good girl that she has been invited to stay in her foster home until she gets adopted! Pretzel has been getting along great with her doggie foster siblings, and she's been excellent with the cats, too. Her reaction to them runs a spectrum between mild interest to indifference. She enjoys going for walks with the dogs and is spunkier than I expected. We take a walk between 1.5 and 2 miles (depending on time) that includes some uphill, which she can do with no problem. Pretzel sleeps in a large crate quietly through the night. If she needs to go potty, she'll bark to alert me to let her out, and then go back to sleep until it's time to get up. During the day she gets potty breaks every 4-5 hours, and she also knows to use a potty pad if she needs to go in between. Pretzel has a good appetite and has no problem eating kibble. She's ready for breakfast pretty much as soon as she gets up. Pretzel rides well in the car and enjoys going on outings. She's a very sweet little girl and enjoys cuddling with us. We have enjoyed having her and know she will bring a lot of joy to the lucky family who adopts her!" To meet this special girl, please email placement@frostedfacesfoundation.org.

Meet Elfie! Elfie came to us from the San Diego Humane Society on December 23rd. She is 11 years old and weighs 9 lbs. Elfie is so sweet and enjoys being petted. A volunteer took Elfie on a special outing to Ramona Family Naturals and Collier Park. Afterwards, she gave Elfie this rave review: "Elfie is so silly, fun, and sweet! She was just a tad nervous at first about being picked up, but we quickly became friends, and she gave me kisses. Elfie was excited about all the things: riding in the car, sniffing at the park, walking, politely greeting another dog, and getting belly rubs. Elfie walks great on leash and was a perfect passenger in the car." Elfie is currently on an even bigger adventure: a two-week Frosted Fling! We are excited to learn more about her in a home environment. Her Fling Mom reports that she loves laps and walks! Check back soon for an update!

Story
Meet Lucy Liu! Lucy Liu was found as a stray with a stomach wound in Escondido and taken to an emergency vet. At San Diego Humane Society, they discovered that Lucy had a registered microchip. Unfortunately, when the owners on record were contacted, they said they had rehomed her two years prior and were not in a position to take care of her. While at SDHS, Lucy had surgery to repair the wound, and then we scooped her up to become a Frosted Face on January 2nd. She is 8 years old, weighs 14 lbs., and after all she's been through, Lucy is ready for a fresh start! Lucy is very sweet, easy to handle, and loves pets. She is currently on a two-week Frosted Fling to enjoy some well-deserved TLC in the comfort of a home. Her Fling Family shared this update: "Lucy Liu is so tolerant! This poor girl has been through so much, yet she kindly lets us do the unpleasant necessities to care for her during recovery. * Absolutely loving. She loves to be carried, sitting on laps, snuggled in bed, and right at your feet. She comes when called if she isn’t already right there. * We are pretty sure she is potty trained, but because of her bandaging, she can’t seem to completely empty her bladder. She tells us when she knows she needs to go out. * Sleeping - For now, Lucy Liu sleeps well on a lap. Nighttime is really hard for her because of the bandage. She wants to chew on it, and her back is very itchy. Until the bandaging is off and she’s healed up, sleep is for intermittent periods. * Playful - She is very playful. We have to limit her playtime so she can heal, but she loves chasing and retrieving toys. She can toss toys in the air and then catch them. She chews on and shakes stuffies but doesn’t destroy them. (See videos.) Lucy is a loving, kind-hearted girl waiting patiently to feel perfect and get on with the good life." Check back soon for the next update on Lucy's recovery! To meet Lucy, please email placement@frostedfacesfoundation.org.
