Story
Porcini entered Los Angeles Animal Care and Control's Baldwin Park Shelter as a stray, and sadly, no one came for her. We welcomed 14-year-old Porcini as a Frosted Face on October 28th. Weighing 11 lbs., she is a sweet, lovable doll baby who is very respectful of cats and does well with other dogs. Since Porcini's arrival, she has spent time in two foster homes, and both fosters only had wonderful things to report! Here is the latest feedback from her holiday fling: "Porcini is really about as low-maintenance and easygoing as you can get for a little dog. She eats well, gets around well, toddles around the house a little, and naps most of the day in a dog bed. She doesn’t need much exercise but really enjoys going outside and meandering around a little. When home alone, she was quiet, well-behaved and just slept. Porcini really shines when you pick her up and plop her in a cozy bed next to you! She’ll happily keep you company while you watch tv, eat, read, and play video games. She doesn’t expect or demand attention but is happy to rest next to you and get whatever petting you’d like to dish out. Porcini went traveling with us to a few different holiday festivities including a street party and a Christmas lights stroll, as well as a weekend getaway to Solvang and Cambria. She was super easy in the car and seemed curious and happy being out and about. It’s tempting to carry her everywhere, but she does GREAT walking around. Porcini had a wonderful time wandering around Solvang and Cambria and getting lots of "awwws" and "isn’t-she-adorables." We didn’t get anywhere fast, but we enjoyed ourselves! Porcini is a great reminder to take your She was great in the backpack, and I bet she would LOVE a stroller. Porcini is a very good little girl who deserves a warm bed, a little patch of grass, and a cozy spot in a loving home. I hope someone who is kind, loving and good is somewhere reading this. If so, you and Porcini deserve each other" To meet Porcini, please email: placement@frostedfacesfoundation.org

Story
Meet Luca! This baby-faced boy transferred to us from the San Diego Humane Society. When Luca first arrived, he was scared, wanted nothing to do with the staff, and would follow us when we turned around only to run away the second we turned to face him. It wasn't long before he warmed up to us, and now he is glued to our sides asking for attention and giving endless kisses! Whenever Luca is not preoccupied with playing amongst his friends or roaming across the play yard, he's hopping around us and asking for our full attention! Behavioral considerations: When encountering employees during his original transfer, Luca barked but kept his distance. In a couple of weeks, he was already soliciting attention and acting completely normal. Due to how Luca expresses fear of meeting new people, particularly men (a general fear of men over women is quite common in many dogs), an experienced adopter will bring out the best in him. With the assistance of our trainer, we will be working with him on leash training as he currently freezes up entirely once a lead is placed around his neck. For now, our trainer has gained his trust and was able to cuddle with him. We do not know what he experienced in his life that made him feel intensely unsafe around strangers, but we are helping our boy out the best we can. In a home and secure backyard setting, he will follow you around wherever you go! Regarding COVID-19 and other contagious illnesses: Please reschedule any visits if you are sick.

Story
Meet Goose! This goofy goober transferred to us from the San Diego Humane Society! Goose was previously adopted from SDHS and returned days later after his owners realized they had no time to care for a young and active pup. Goose is an extremely goofy, bouncy, and energetic ball of love! He is having the time of his life with his new pals and loves being a part of the pack! His quirky, left-sided head tilt adds character to his already silly self! Health considerations: Goose had a right cryptorchid (retained testicle) that was removed without incident and is resolved. He displays a left-sided head tilt which does not affect his balance or quality of life. Due to this history, our vet thinks he was born with congenital birth defects. Regarding COVID-19 and other contagious illnesses: Please reschedule any visits if you are sick.

She also knows how to relax and enjoys hanging out at home once she’s gotten her energy out. Sasha thrives with a good balance of activity and downtime.  Sasha is a big treats girl and absolutely loves snacks, which is one of the many things that makes her so charming.
