Looks like: Jack Russel Terrier mix Male, 5 years old (estimated), 22 pounds Oatmeal Raisin might not be the flashiest cookie in the jar, but ask anyone who knows him, he's the comforting classic you'll keep reaching for again and again! It's true. It's really hard to get enough of this sweet, easygoing boy. He's the perfectly warm, dependable, and full of little surprises that make you smile. He's a dog whose tail never stops wagging. It's like a happy little metronome, keeping time to the rhythm of joy wherever he goes. Oatmeal Raisin is great with other dogs and blends right in, no crumbling under pressure here! He's social, friendly, and enjoys being part of the pack. Whether it's playtime in the yard or a neighborhood stroll with furry friends, he's happy to join in. We have found that he's active without being wild, what a perfect balance. He'd be a fantastic walking buddy, keeping a steady pace with that constant tail wag leading the way. If you love daily walks, light adventures, and having a cheerful companion by your side, he's ready to lace up (well... leash up). This classic cookie joins us after he landed at Contra Costa Animal Services as a stray. Due to the shelter's full status and his senior age, he was the perfect addition to the POMDR pack!

Ernie.  Once Ernie gets to know you, he can be s weet and affectionate. He is very cautious with new people and needs slow introductions. Energy Level?  Low to Medium House trained?  Yes Describe how they are on a leash?  Ernie walks well on a leash and is non-reactive. Describe how they are with other dogs?   He generally ignores other dogs while on walks. At the shelter, he participated in playgroups and did well with other dogs. When he first arrived, he didn’t get along with the resident dog, but he’s been improving as he decompresses and relaxes. He could potentially live with other dogs with proper introductions and patience. Have they been around cats or other animals? How were they? Ignore cats we meet on walks (cats not moving); sometimes will chase a squirrel if it runs, but will continue walking easily. Commands they know?  He knows how to sit and down. What are their favorite things? Cuddles, kisses, go out for walks, and all kinds of food/treats What do they need to work on? Coping with stress - meeting new people, vet visits, visitors in the home, etc How are they when left alone? How long have they been left alone? He is fine being left alone. He is calm and generally sleeps when left alone.   Where do they sleep? His bed What is their ideal home?  He would do best in a calm, patient home with people who understand his needs and are willing to give him the time and space to build trust and confidence. A quieter environment, with fewer visitors, would help him feel more secure as he continues to adjust.
