Story
I got Roxy three years ago, and she is currently 4 years old. She is a Jack Russell Terrier Pit Bull mix. She loves her walks, toys, snacks, and long naps throughout the day. Roxy has a fun-loving personality, so she needs someone who will play with her and enjoy her energy. She has a trauma/trigger spot on the top of her head, and if someone unfamiliar gets too close to her face and touches that area, she may bite. In the three years I've had her, she has only bitten me once. Now that she's comfortable and feels safe, it hasn't happened since. Due to her trauma, it's important that she receives love and patience at her new home. Roxy needs someone who pays attention to her boundaries and gives her time to settle in. When she feels safe, she opens up and shows her sweetest, most loving side!

Story
In a perfect world, every dog would be like Pepper -- sweet, affectionate, super smart, crate-trained and house-trained, and friendly with other dogs and children. In keeping with the season, she is an angel who even knows to wait for grace and "amen" before a meal. Pepper lost her home when her family became homeless. She arrived at the shelter on Dec. 13 and volunteers fell in love with her. Pepper is just 3 years old and weighs 28 pounds. She is current on vaccines and will be spayed soon and tested for heartworms; she will be microchipped upon adoption. Come meet this beautiful girl in Run 873, using ID#15675. Note - all the listings on Friends of Shelter Animals for Cobb are done by volunteers. If this cat or dog came in as a lost animal, we do not know how they might be with children, other pets, or if house trained. You can bring your pet to the shelter for a meet & greet with your potential new best friend. When inquiring about a cat or dog, please use THE ID NUMBER. This pet is available for adoption from Cobb County Animal Services, 1060 Al Bishop Dr. Marietta, GA 30008, (770) 499-4136. Shelter hours: Tues. - Sun. 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., closed Mondays & Holidays. The adoption includes shots, altering, a heart worm or combo test and a microchip.

LOOKING FOR MY ANGEL:  Approx. 11 years old / Approx. 14 lbs. Hi, my name’s Boomer!  I found myself lost or abandoned on the roadside, so a nice lady picked me up and worked with a vet and animal control to try and locate my family as well as do my legal stray hold.  My former owners did not come for me, so the nice lady helped me work my way to Mostly Mutts for which I’m thankful!  I’m in a nice foster home now while I wait for my special person or family to come and adopt me.    • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  There is a young dog in my foster home, and it took me a little while to like him, but now we spend a lot of time together, napping and playing together and just enjoying each other’s company, so if you have a dog, let’s meet and see if we can be good buddies, too. / I do well with the 3 cats in my foster home, as we all just leave each other alone. All cats are different, so I’m not sure how I would be with another cat.  / I haven’t met kids yet and I don’t think I’d want to live with young children, but if you have teens who would let me do my own thing and be gentle with me, let’s meet.  • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  My foster describes me as sweet and energetic, but also independent. I’m not a big cuddler, but I accept affection sitting next to my fosters on the couch and sometimes nuzzling up to them or climb into their lap to be petted.  This has increased in frequency as I’ve become more comfortable.  Initially, I would give ‘warning nips’, not breaking the skin, when I was uncomfortable with something or overstimulated, but I have stopped doing that now and am super grateful for the great care and kindness I get here. / My energy level is 5-7 so I’ve still got some pep in my step.  • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I don’t know any specific commands, but perhaps you can teach me some – or perhaps we just don’t concern ourselves with it. / My crate manners are good in my foster home. / I came in originally incontinent, so I’m on a medication to help with that and now I do pretty well in my foster home when taken out frequently.  I’ll need a work-/stay-at-home family member who can keep me on a frequent schedule and will understand that there will be some accidents.  • LIKES/DISLIKES:  I love to be with the other dog in the home, and I like knowing that my fosters are home. When my fosters have been out for a little while, I sometimes greet them by nuzzling between their legs – so sweet.  I sure like pasta, but don’t give me too much, as people food isn’t the best for dogs. / I’m not a fan of thunder or fireworks so I seek out my family during those times, in fact those are the times I will cuddle with and want to be in their laps for safety. I’m also not a fan of towel drying after a bath.  I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get good care and love.  • MEDICAL:  I'm current on annual vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered.  I needed a good dental cleaning when I arrived, and I’ve had that now with 1 tooth pulled, so my mouth is fresh again.  I’m on a medication called Proin to help with my incontinence and I should stay on that.  I’m also on an inexpensive medication for anxiety and my foster can see that it has helped me settle and I’m doing much better, so I should stay on that.   I’m looking for a wonderful family where I can be a cherished family member!  My adoption fee is $100.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.  December 17, 2025, 9:32 am

Story
ENJOYS SOAKING UP THE LOVE:  Approx. 12 years old / Approx. 14 lbs. Hi there, I’m Jayne!  I’m a sweet older gal who made my way to Mostly Mutts with another dog friend (already adopted) and I’m so happy to be here getting lots of love and needed medical care while I wait for my forever home (see medical below).  I’m in a wonderful foster home now, waiting for my furever family to find me! • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I came in with a dog that I liked and have met other dogs that were about my size at Mostly Mutts and though I wasn’t ready to play with them, I also did not show any aggression.  I spent a week in a  home with another nice dog, and we coexisted well together, and I like the low-key female chihuahua in my current foster home, so if you have a nice dog at home that’s not looking for a playmate, let’s meet! / I ignore the cats in my foster home and don’t mind if they approach me.  All cats are different, so I’m not sure how I would be with another cat. / I like the gentle 7-year-old boy in my foster home and even like to snuggle with him, so let’s meet and best no very young kids since I’m an older gal.     · PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  I’m a super sweet little lady who just wants the simple things in life – people to spend my time with, soft fluffy blankets to burrow into and a cozy, squishy bed to relax in.  My foster says I’m not the average 12-year-old girl and really need some exercise (1-2 miles) every day to be my best self.  I whine a bit asking for my walk, walk perfectly on my leash and haven’t had any reactions to anyone we pass.  I really enjoy a routine and now that I have adjusted to my foster family’s pattern, I am really thriving.  I’m calm unless left alone, friendly, and absolutely adore being with people.  I settle in quickly and love to keep my favorite humans close, so a stay-at-home or work-from-home family with a consistent schedule would be perfect for me!  I do tend to bark pretty loudly when I’m left alone (but my foster says I’m not a barky dog in general) so I’m not the best fit for apartment or condo living – but in the right home, I’ll be your loving, loyal little companion and I’ll make sure you always know you are loved.  My foster says I am a “SUPER sweet and very chill dog who just wants to hang out with her people (and she makes friends with everyone very easily).” / My energy level is 2-4. · SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I know the ‘sit’ command and walk nicely on a leash - I’m sure I can learn more if you would like to teach me. / I’m not a big fan of being in a crate separated from my people and can be loud in it.  In one of my temporary foster homes, I did like resting in it with the door open. / My foster says that my potty habits are good - I sleep through the night and that I let her know every few hours during the day that I need to go outside and have not had any accidents in their home – yay me! · LIKES/DISLIKES:  I love going outside for my daily walks and despite my age, I have the stamina to walk briskly for a few miles – nothing beats breathing in the cool, crisp air!  I’m a big fan of snuggling up together afterward.  Beef liver dog treats are yummy, and honestly, just being with people makes me the happiest little pup around.  I like to follow my people around (my foster says “not annoyingly so” lol) and enjoy routine.  I also enjoy car rides so you can take me places with you! / In addition to not being a fan of being alone much, loud noises startle me.  I’m also sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, and training. · MEDICAL:  I'm current on annual vaccinations, micro-chipped and spayed.  I’m taking an anxiety medication to help with shelter stress and it’s very possible that I’ll be able to come off this gradually as I settle into my new home.  My foster says this is very likely as I’ve already made so much progress settling in with them.  I came in with severe dental disease, and thankfully I’ve just had a good dental cleaning as well as 2 warts removed from my face.  I’ve got a grade 3/6 heart murmur that does not require medication at this time and may improve now that I’ve had a good dental cleaning. I am looking for a wonderful home where I will be a cherished family member!  My adoption fee is $100.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.  December 17, 2025, 9:32 am
