Story
***AVAILABLE ON-SITE THURSDAYS AND FRIDAYS*** Maroon is a lap dog through and through. She loves all people and wants nothing more than to be cuddled up in your lap or next to you. Maroon does not demonstrate food aggression with other dogs in her foster home, though she does get testy if another dog wakes her from a nap. She did not mess in the house during the short time she was in foster care and slept through the night. She would be a great addition for any family with empty laps. Fill out an application to bring Maroon home soon!

Story
Meet Sparky, the ultimate fur friend who's got it all! He's a playful, happy-go-lucky pup who loves snuggling and being a lap dog. He's gentle and sweet, not to mention super social with humans, other dogs, and even cats. He craves attention and absolutely adores getting belly rubs. His toy collection is impressive too, especially his stuffed toys and squeakers, which he gladly shares.   Sparky is quite the gentleman too.  While he's not a fan of crates, he's such a good boy on a leash. With his leash manners, he doesn't necessarily need a fenced yard, but he absolutely loves having one. It's his own personal kingdom!  His size and adventurous spirit says any fence of his needs to have solid panels or narrow spacing. And if you're living in an apartment, that's totally cool too, as long as he gets his exercise, playtime, and daily walks.   When it comes to Sparky's daily routine, he starts his day with a trip outside, a hearty half-cup of dry food for breakfast, and plenty of playtime. Throughout the day, he'll take naps and enjoy another outdoor outing after his person returns from work. For dinner, he has another half-cup of food, sometimes mixed with a little wet food for a special treat. And in the evenings, you've got the perfect couch potato.  He'll happily join you on the couch for a cozy night in. In fact, he loves spending time with his person so much, his favorite activity is simply being by your side.   Sparky would thrive in a loving, multigenerational family, a stay-at-home or work-from-home family, or even with a couple who have opposite work schedules. His gratitude for your love will brighten your day, and his happy cries during playtime will crack you up. He's a sweetheart who never tires of kisses from his person.   So why wait? Bring Sparky into your life and let the fun and love begin! As part of Sparky’s $300 adoption fee, he will be neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. If you have questions about this sweet little boy, you can email Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Sparky, you can fill in an online application for him under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org. ##2001090##

Story
I rescued Phoebe a few months ago from an animal shelter after she was spotted wandering around a small town for weeks. She is approximately 3-4 years old and has had a litter. She has been spayed, is up to date on shots, and is microchipped. She is crate trained. She does not get along with my small old chiweenie. My chiweenie is approximately 15 years old and does not want to play (hence not getting along). Phoebe just wants to play and get belly rubs. She is great with small children. She does like to jump sometimes. She is treat/food driven. She listens wonderfully and loves everyone. She only barks when there are other dogs outside around the neighborhood and barks when there is someone new in the home. Unfortunately, my son is having worsening allergies and I believe it is due to our new addition. She is a super sweet dog and I am sad to let her go.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Online Adoption Application › Buster is a lovely wired hair Jack Russell mix looking for his forever home. He is around 6 y old and a very sweet and cuddly guy. He is crate trained, house trained and loves to go on car rides!  He has an amazing personality, and loves to show other dogs he means business! He is friendly and playful, but can also like to keep other dogs that he considers are misbehaving "in check" with some nipping. He means well, and wants things running smoothly. He is also very communicative and could growl if something bothers him. An ideal home would be one with older kids that can be respectful of boundaries if he needs some time alone. Also, someone with experience with the breed would be preferred (not required) Would you be his pawfect match?  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 25, 2024, 10:26 am

Story
Rosie's world looked rather bleak on the day her owner abandoned her outside a veterinarian's office, leaving her chained there and enduring the pain of an injured tail. At least, she was placed where she would be easily discovered, and soon New Rattitude came to the rescue with medical care and a loving foster home. The 6-year-old rat terrier did end up having her tail removed, but she is all healed and good as new and super excited to find her forever home.   Not surprisingly, Rosie doesn't like being left alone. She needs to be with someone who works from home or who is retired and stays home most of the time. Take it from us, at an easy-to-fit-in-your-lap 14 lbs., this girl is so cute, you'll want to be with her day in and out. Rosie enjoys getting cozy and loving on her person. She is house-trained and crate trained and knows how to walk nicely on a leash. Rosie loves being outdoors, running around, and going for walks. She's working on not reacting to the other dogs and people she encounters, so her foster mom brings along treats to help Rosie have positive associations with everyone. Rosie's talent for stopping to smell everything also plays an important role in helping her to be a well-mannered walker.   Rosie gets along OK with the other dogs in her foster home and loves to play with them as long as she gets to decide how, when, and where they will play. She'll issue her invitations with a play bow, lick, or exposed belly, and she'll counter unsolicited advances by barking or growling and walking away. As long as her humans are willing to serve as playmates, she might be content to be an only dog.   Rosie is ready to be your consummate cuddler under the covers at night and your constant and close companion during the day. Check out additional photos and video at https://imageevent.com/newrattitude/rosiecharlottenc , and imagine yourself giving Rosie the rosy future she deserves. Our adoption fee is $200 for adult dogs or $250 for puppies under 6 months old. Story
Coco spent most of her 2 1/2 years living in an outdoor pen with several other dogs, so she wasn't exposed to many people or things beyond her small world. However, this cute 16-lb. rat terrier/mountain feist mix has quickly become her new foster mom's shadow. Wherever Foster Mom sits, Coco will jump up beside her. On the other hand, time, patience, and lots of treats and reassuring words were needed for Coco to warm up to her foster dad. In the beginning, she would bark and growl at him whenever he moved around the house. Now the two are good friends, but she still feels uncertain about new people. She will need about 15 minutes and a bit of distance to begin to feel comfortable around guests. She prefers a calm environment where people are seated much of the time, so a home with young children would not be a good fit for her.   Coco gets along with the three other dogs in her foster home and has started playing a bit. (A canine buddy in her adoptive home will help her feel at ease more quickly.) She loves chewing bones and can be heard playfully tossing them around when no one is watching. She doesn't mind being crated, but she's trustworthy to be left loose and reliably house-trained as long as she can dash out into a fenced yard for potty breaks. That fence will also be needed to safely contain her during her daily attack of the 'zoomies.'    Coco is a sweet girl, who wants to trust but needs your patient, gentle welcome in order to do so. You'll know you've succeeded when that little nub of a tail starts wagging and never stops. You can see more photos of Coco at https://imageevent.com/newrattitude/coco .Our adoption fee is $200 for adult dogs or $250 for puppies under 6 months old.
