Story
WEACT received a report about dogs whose lives have been ignored for five years in the beautiful island of Jeju and rushed to the illegal dog farm. What was found was a heartbreaking scene. The farm, operated by the owner of a well-known restaurant, was overflowing with mountains of garbage, filth, and cockroaches. Seven dogs were confined in small cages. WEACT could no longer turn away from these dogs. They determined to restore the simple rights they should always have had: clean food, a warm place to sleep, and a life filled with care. Soyeon was one of those dogs. Overall, Soyeon is a smart, affectionate, playful, and well-balanced dog. She learns quickly, understands people well, and naturally picks up commands and cues with very little repetition. She enjoys playtime and showing affection but also knows how to settle down and be patient when needed. Soyeon is expressive about her feelings and communicates clearly when she is uncomfortable, so she would do best with a family that respects her boundaries and pays attention to her cues. She can live happily in an apartment or house as long as she has a loving, comfortable home and opportunities for outdoor adventures. Spend a little time with her, and before long, she will happily come over to show you her adorable personality. Nevertheless, Soyeon does have some clear preferences when it comes to physical touch. She enjoys being touched on areas she finds comfortable, such as her head and body, but she does not like having sensitive areas, such as her rear end or hind legs, being touched. When Soyeon feels uncomfortable, she will let a growl to let the person know she doesn't like it. This does not mean that she refuses all necessary handling. When something is important, such as brushing or grooming, she may be uncomfortable but will patiently tolerate it, showing a surprisingly mature side. She is a girl who communicates her feelings with honesty. If living with another dog, a calm, friendly companion who can match her playful energy while giving her time to build a relationship would be ideal. Good with women: yes, Soyeon is good with women Good with men: yes, Soyeon is good with men Good with kids: yes, older children recommended as her interactions with kids has been limited Good with other dogs: yes, Soyeon is a lively, friendly girl who comfortably greets new canine friends and enthusiastically shows her affection with her whole body. However, sometimes her excitement can be overwhelming to another dog so she may occasionally miss the other dog's signal to stop playing. With continued experience learning to watch and respect her playmate's signals and appropriately manage her energy, Soyeon can grow into an even more polite and well-mannered canine companion while keeping her naturally fun and playful personality. Good with cats: unknown, Soyeon hasn't encountered cats yet House trained: in progress Crate trained: in progress Energy level: medium, walks 1-2 times a day is recommended Can be handled/touched: yes, Soyeon is a social girl who approaches unfamiliar people without much hesitation and quickly becomes comfortable receiving affection Barker: no, only barks when she is excited Flight Risk: no, but it is always recommended to double leash at the beginning to be safe Food aggressive: no Current food: kibble Walks on leash: in progress Leash reactive to people or dogs: no Rides well in cars: yes Destructive: no Needs a home with a yard: not necessarily Needs a home with another dog: not required, but she has lived around other dogs and may do best with a confident sibling Can live in an apartment: possibly Please visit our website niagaradogrescue.com to learn more about this amazing pet and to see other available dogs.

Story
Yuel's story began in a place no dog should have to call home-a crowded city shelter in Gongju, where time was always running out. At just six months old, Yuel found herself on the euthanasia list, her future hanging by a thread she couldn't understand. But even before that moment, her young life had already been shaped by hardship. She had entered the shelter alongside her mother and siblings. Her mother, a gentle dog who had already endured so much, had lost one of her legs after being caught in a trap. For Yuel and her siblings, the world had never felt entirely safe. People were unfamiliar, and trust did not come easily. A month before Yuel's scheduled euthanasia, rescuers from DoReMi had saved her mother. Then came the shocking news-her puppies would be next. Without hesitation, the rescue returned and brought all three siblings, including Yuel, to safety. It was a turning point that would quietly change everything. At first, Yuel was unsure. The world outside the shelter was new, and she approached it with cautious eyes and a hesitant heart. But unlike fear that lingers, Yuel's uncertainty was something softer-something that could be gently unwound with patience and kindness. Day by day, she began to change. In the safety of the shelter, surrounded by familiar faces and steady care, Yuel slowly discovered what it meant to feel secure. She learned that hands could offer comfort, not harm. That voices could soothe instead of startle. That people could be trusted. And when that realization took root, Yuel's true self began to shine. She became affectionate, often choosing to stay close to her humans, following them quietly like a little shadow. Her gentle nature and bright spirit made her a joy to be around. Though she might still pause when faced with something new, she no longer retreats. Instead, she gathers her courage, takes a moment, and then steps forward-with curiosity, with trust. Yuel doesn't need perfection. She doesn't need a fast-paced life or constant excitement. What she longs for is simple but profound: a home where she can feel safe, loved, and close to her people. A place where she can continue to grow at her own pace, with gentle encouragement guiding her along the way. She gets along well with other dogs, but her heart belongs to people. Whether in a home with another calm companion or as the center of someone's world, Yuel will thrive where love is steady and patient. Yuel's journey is one of quiet resilience. From fear to trust, from uncertainty to connection-she has already come so far. Now, she is ready for the final chapter of her story. A forever home. And for the person who welcomes her in, Yuel won't just be a rescue dog. She'll be a loyal companion, a gentle soul, and a daily reminder of how love, given time, can transform everything. Good with women: Yes Good with men: Yes Good with kids: Yes older kids recommended as her interactions with kids has been limited Good with other dogs: Yes Good with cats: Unknown House trained: Yes, outdoor potty trained. Food aggressive: No Current food: Yuel currently eats dry kibble and home-cooked food. Her kibble is duck-based, and her home-cooked food is mainly chicken breast with vegetables such as cabbage. Walks on leash: Yes, she walks on leash Leash reactive to people or dogs: No, she is not reactive. When she sees people or other dogs during walks, she usually just stands still and watches them. Rides well in car: Yes, she rides in the car fairly well, but she may get carsick if the ride is too long - this should subside with practice Destructive: No major destructive behavior has been observed. She may tear up pee pads if she sees them, but she stops when corrected. Needs a home with a yard: Preferred - A home with a yard would be ideal. However, if there is no yard, she will need at least two walks a day. Needs a home with another dog: No, Yuel does not necessarily need another dog in the home. She gets along well with other dogs, but she is more people-oriented and especially likes to follow her main caregiver around. Can live in an apartment: Yes, as long as she gets regular walks every day Please visit our website niagaradogrescue.com to learn more about this amazing pet and to see other available dogs.

Story
WEACT received a report about a mother dog who was suffering from severe, untreated skin injuries, scavenging through trash cans to feed her puppies. The team rushed to the site, but by the time they arrived, the mother dog had already disappeared. Only the puppies had been taken to a city shelter. The puppies were safely brought into WEACT's care, but we could not give up on the mother dog and her other daughter, who was still wandering the streets. Because they had lived outdoors for a long time, they were extremely wary of people, and the rescue took many attempts and a great deal of patience. After continued effort, the mother dog was finally rescued, and soon after, her pregnant daughter was also brought to safety. We gave her a new name - Yewon - and now we hope to help her begin a new and happier chapter in life. Overall, Yewon has a calm and gentle nature, and she adjusts to new places at her own pace. Sudden sounds or unexpected touch can startle her, but when you approach her gently and move at her pace, she relaxes and comes closer with a soft, friendly attitude. Yewon will do well with a family who can respect her pace and spend time with her patiently. She is still learning and adjusting to new environments, so it would be best for her to experience new things slowly and in a way that feels safe and comfortable. If there is another dog in the home, Yewon is likely to get along well, as she enjoys being around gentle and friendly dogs. She can also do well as the only dog, as long as she receives calm companionship and plenty of warm affection. We hope Yewon meets a family who will move at her pace with kindness; someone who will share quiet moments, steady support, and a loving life together with this gentle, soft-hearted girl. Good with women: Yes, Yewon is good with women Good with men: Yes, Yewon is good with men Good with kids: Yes, older children recommended as her interactions with kids has been limited Good with other dogs: Yes, Yewon has spent a lot of time living with other dogs, so she is comfortable around them and gets along well with a variety of friends Good with cats: Unknown House trained: Yes, Yewon prefers outdoor potty Crate trained: Yes Energy level: Med/High, Yewon needs at least two walks a day so she can use and release her energy in a healthy way Can be handled/touched: Yes, Yewon is a sweet, gentle girl who can be touched. She enjoys getting to know people at her own pace and may spend some time quietly observing new faces at first. Once she feels safe and comfortable, she gradually opens up and becomes affectionate, happily accepting gentle petting and handling. Her sweet and trusting nature continues to shine as her confidence grows. Barker: No Flight Risk: No, but it is always recommended to double leash at the beginning to be safe Food aggressive: No Current food: Kibble Walks on leash: Yes, Yewon walks very well on leash. Anyone can walk her comfortably, and she handles leash walks with ease. Leash reactive to people or dogs: No Rides well in cars: Yes, but Yewon gets carsick after long rides - this should subside with practice Destructive: No Needs a home with a yard: Preferred Needs a home with another dog: Not necessarily, but if there is another dog in the home, Yewon is likely to get along well, as she enjoys being around gentle and friendly dogs Can live in an apartment: Yes Please visit our website niagaradogrescue.com to learn more about this amazing pet and to see other available dogs.

Story
Miso's story began on a cold winter day, when a city shelter reached out with an urgent plea: the tiny puppies in their care were unlikely to survive the harsh months ahead. Among them was Miso, a cream-and-white Jindo mix, just a young one-year-old with a spirit that refused to be dimmed. She was lucky - rescued just in time and brought to safety, where her true personality could shine. From the moment she settled into her foster home, Miso showed that she's a gentle, friendly, and active girl. She loves spending time with people, though she can be a little cautious if touched suddenly. With other dogs, she blossoms - chasing, playing, and running freely in the yard with pure joy. Though her exposure to children has been limited, she does well with older kids, and her calm, friendly demeanor makes her a delightful companion.Miso is a smart, well-mannered girl. She's house-trained, preferring to do her business outside, and crate-trained, where she remains calm and relaxed. She rarely barks, doesn't chase or show aggression on leash, and rides comfortably in the car. Full of playful energy, she enjoys toys, her bed, and the joy of being near her people. While a home with a yard is preferred for her adventures, she could also thrive in an apartment with regular exercise. Miso doesn't need another dog to be happy, but she gets along beautifully with dogs of all sizes.Miso is now ready for the next chapter of her life: a family who will give her love, patience, and space to flourish - someone who will let her curiosity and gentle heart guide her. She's a survivor, a sweet companion, and a joyful friend waiting for her forever home. Story
Meet SaeNa - A Devoted Mama Ready for Her Happily Ever After. SaeNa's story is one of quiet strength, resilience, and love. When she was first rescued in Korea, she was heartbreakingly thin - little more than skin and bones. Despite her condition, SaeNa carried on with incredible determination... because she wasn't just surviving for herself.Shortly after her rescue, she gave birth to six beautiful puppies, nurturing them with everything she had. Now that her puppies are growing and thriving, it's finally SaeNa's turn to be cared for, cherished, and loved the way she deserves.SaeNa is a deeply people-oriented dog who finds her greatest happiness in being close to her humans. She adores attention, leans in for affection, and will happily soak up all the love you have to give. While she enjoys being petted, she appreciates gentle, respectful handling and may feel uneasy if picked up too quickly or forcefully. She's wonderfully well-mannered with a moderate energy level - the perfect balance of playful and calm. SaeNa walks nicely on a leash and has an adorable little quirk: she prefers to do her business outside before eating, showing just how naturally clean and routine-oriented she is.SaeNa can get excited when she sees people and may express it with a happy bark, eager to say hello. She truly thrives on human connection and would love a home where she can be part of daily life. While she can coexist with other dogs, SaeNa does enjoy being the center of attention and may show a touch of jealousy. She is never aggressive, but she would do best with thoughtful introductions and guidance in a multi-dog home - or as the only dog where she can shine as your one and only. When left alone, SaeNa is independent and settles well, but the moment you return, she'll be ready to greet you with joy and excitement. After everything she's been through - from surviving on so little to raising her babies with unwavering love - SaeNa is more than ready for a fresh start. She's not just looking for a home... she's looking for her person, someone who will give her the affection, patience, and gentle care she's always deserved. If you're looking for a loyal, loving companion with a beautiful soul and a heart full of love, SaeNa might just be your perfect match. Name: SaeNa (20260404-06)Weight: 38lbsAge: 4 yo (Est. Meet Tiktok, a gentle and loyal Jindo mix looking for his forever home!True to his Jindo heritage, Tiktok is a sophisticated companion who balances an active spirit with a calm, indoor presence. He's an active partner for your daily walks but knows how to settle down and relax once he's back inside. He is crate-trained and adapts beautifully to a steady schedule, helping him feel secure and happy. He responds wonderfully to praise and affection-no treats required for this good boy to show off his best manners!.Tiktok can be a bit sensitive to loud noises and prefers a gentle touch (he's a bit shy about his hind legs!).He shows a little caution around larger dogs, so a home that can provide calm, supervised introductions would be perfect.
