Story
Meet Marvelous Max-Nebraska, a 5 year old male Labradoodle, who is in an IDOG foster home in Fremont, Nebraska near Omaha, Nebraska. *Please read ALL the information in Max's listing before applying to ensure you understand what he needs to be successful in his new home. *Please complete our adoption application at http://www.idogrescue.com/adoption_application (copy/paste URL into your browser). *If you completed an adoption application in the last 6 months & would like for your application to be considered for Max, please email us at rescue@idogdoodlerescue.org. *You must complete our adoption application fully. If you choose not to answer all the questions in the application, your application will not be considered. We will review your application & email you if you made our short list of applicants for him. Please respond within 24 hours if you receive an email from us about making our short list. *You can check the status of his adoption at https://www.idogrescue.com/adopt or any of our social media pages. We will change his status to adopted when he is adopted. *We base our adoption decisions on what is in the best interest of our dogs. Please note our adoption policies are in place for the safety & welfare of our dogs. We are all volunteers & have jobs, families, pets of our own to care for. We do the best that we can to get back to you in a timely manner. We believe in taking time to go through our thorough process to try to match the dog with the best fit for that dog. *You must be approved to adopt him before we will schedule a meet & greet. We do not transport our dogs. *AGE: 5 years old (born March 2021) *WEIGHT: 103 lbs. We think he could be at his ideal weight around 90-95 lbs. Max has lost a couple of pounds while in foster care but could use help losing just a little bit more. He has been more active with his foster family and it's already showing! *FENCE REQUIREMENT: A physical fence and yard are required as we feel this would help set him up for success. No electronic/invisible fences, or e-collars will be allowed. *COAT TYPE: mixed coat with coarse shedding fur on his body and curly lower-shedding Poodle hair on his head/ears and feet. Those areas are more prone to knots and matting if not properly cared for. He will need regular brushing and grooming. His coat was matted upon intake and it was shaved down; you can see some ‘before’ photos in his listing. You should be prepared to have him groomed regularly (every 8-10 weeks) with an estimated cost of $120/groom. *ENERGY LEVEL: High happy energy! This guy always seems to be moving which means he might even be "under foot" at times...Max is a Velcro dog who wants to be a part of it all and have his humans in sight! He would ideally like 30-60 minutes of walking a day. *DOGS: Great! Max would do well with other dogs in the home if they are playful and not aggressive. His foster family has two similar sized dogs as Max and he has done well. He uses his whole body to play, and will sometimes put his whole weight on other dogs. *CATS: We think it would be best if Max goes to a home without cats. He will chase moving cats but ignores sleeping cats. *KIDS: Yes. Older and/or dog savvy children would be best as Max is large and could knock littles over with his size. He lived with smaller kids in his previous home. Remember he is an active guy! *CAR: Max does great in the car and loves to go for rides. He likes when the windows are down, and doesn't bark as he watches the world go by. *CRATE: Yes! Max is crate trained and willingly goes inside for feeding and down time. He has been crated for up to 6 hours at a time with no issues and sits quietly. *HOUSE TRAINED: Yes! He wants his humans to go outside with him when he goes to potty. He LOVES his people near even when he wants to potty. *LEASH: Max would thrive learning more leash manners. He likes to pull hard but also really wants to be a good dog. He is a hard puller on walks and is learning to walk with a head halter which is helping him learn not to pull. *AT THE VET: Max went taken to the vet's office on several occasions to get his microchip scanned & to get his weight. He was friendly and had no anxiety and was super friendly to everyone. He may jump on people once he loses some weight. *AT THE GROOMER: While in foster care, Max was groomed by his foster mom & was a very good boy! His previous owner stated he was calm at the groomer. Marvelous Max is a 5 year old Labradoodle who weighs 103 lbs. (his ideal weight is 90-95 lbs.); he was surrendered to IDOG by his owner who loved him very much but wasn’t able to provide him with the amount of exercise and activity he needed. Max is a happy guy who is very sweet, loving, energetic, and playful! He is a true Velcro dog and loves everyone and wants to be right near you even when he goes to potty outside. He learns quickly, picks up on tasks asked of him and redirection of behaviors. He doesn’t have a mean bone in his body. He does well with basic commands. He has gotten along well with the pack of dogs in his foster home. When he first met them he would try to jump on their backs; one correction from the dogs and he stopped immediately. Max would do best in a home where his people are very active. He loves to be next to his people and/or his foster dogs. He needs play time and exercise to burn his energy. Max would do great in a home with another big playful dog. He just wants to be a part of it all! He is like a bulldozer sometimes and doesn’t really know his size. He will thrive in a home that would be willing to work on them. He loves playing in the yard and exploring. He needs good outlets including lots of playtime, daily walks, and positive basic training. Max is a true Velcro dog and will be extremely attached to a family who is willing to give him the love and attention. He will thrive with good boundaries and training to help him be the very best boy around! He is in constant motion and lays down and relaxes if his humans do. Max loves a good counter surfing session as well as trash diving and a dog-savvy home would best suit his needs. He's a bit of a messy drinker like most Doods and loves to chew on toys. No squeaker is safe when this guy is around. He likes chewing on bones. Max doesn't have anxiety or issues at the vet and he is super friendly with all strangers. Another dog in his new home is not necessary if Max's people are active and will give him the attention and engagement he needs. He really wants to play with other dogs. He loves human attention and wants to be close to you most of the time. If he could play with his humans outside all day, he would be the happiest guy around. We think the ideal type of home for Max is: -active family who will ensure his exercise needs are met -yard and fence to help him burn some energy -kids 12+ -if there is another dog in the home, big and playful dog would be ideal! -family where someone is home frequently to engage with Max Adjectives that describe Max: *Friendly *Curious *Silly *Loves Attention *Energetic *Playful *Strong *Funny *Goofy *Snuggly *Affectionate Activities that Max enjoys: -Chew toys (he will likely destroy most toys so needs to be supervised) -Squeaky toys -Tug -Fetch -Walking -Cuddling -Playing with other dogs A few ‘needs work’ items for Max: Max would thrive in a home with good boundaries and basic training. He needs to be able to expel his energy through play, walks, and exercise. -continued help walking on leash without pulling Max is neutered, house trained, microchipped, current on core vaccines, dewormer, and heartworm/flea tick preventives. He is heartworm and fecal negative. ADOPTION FEE: $350 adoption fee ADOPTION FEE EXPLANATION: Puppies & highly adoptable dogs have a higher adoption fee to help IDOG cover the vetting & expenses of the other dogs in IDOG whose adoption fees do not cover their expenses. Our expenses are high these days due to increased vetting expenses, board & train costs, medical/health issues & surgery that is needed for some of our dogs. IDOG relies heavily on donations to bridge the gap between our adoption fees & our expenses. Unfortunately, donations are down across the board for all rescues. TO APPLY FOR MAX-NEBRASKA, PLEASE COMPLETE THE APPLICATION ON OUR WEBSITE: http://www.idogrescue.com/adoption_application

Story
Would you like to have a sweet companion always by your side who likes to give kisses?   Shadow is an affectionate dog (born 2021) looking for a new home through no fault of his own.   He is calm and gentle and has done well with all people he's met.  Shadow is very strong, but not in an aggressive way, and will bark at unknown dogs and people until he's introduced to them.  He is house broken and knows some commands.  The perfect home will have a fenced in yard because he loves to play fetch!  He also needs to be with people who really want a constant companion and a loving and loyal dog.   The suggested adoption donation for Shadow is $375, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training). Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals. In 2022 alone, we provided animal Healthcare totaling over $399,000 covered mainly through adoption fees.   Please Note: A Courtesy Post designates that an animal is still in the home of its owner and not in a Muddy Paws foster. This means that our exposure to the animal is limited since we only assist the owner in finding a new home for their pet. From time to time, owners find a new furever home for their pets outside of Muddy Paws Last Chance Rescue, and there is a delay in removing them from our site. We apologize if the Courtesy Post you apply to adopt is unavailable for adoption.   Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application has completed our prescreen steps, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver. Please Note: We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks, and a Home Visit (Virtual in some cases) during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal’s needs. If you and the animal are not a good match, we will help you select another animal, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months.   To learn about Muddy Paws Last Chance Rescue or donate to our animals, please visit our website at MuddyPawsSecondChanceRescue.com or our Facebook Page Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue Inc. ##2541086##

Story
Meet Maverick, a Lab mix, born Jan 2020.  Maverick is looking for a quiet and consistent place to call home.  He is a little unsure of males and would do better with a female person and a female dog friend.  Maverick prefers to have another dog or cat around the house.  Maverick enjoys being active and needs a fenced back yard with at least a 6 foot fence and room to play with his jolly ball.  He is not a fan of sharing his toys and will need a quiet place by himself to eat meals.  He is crate trained, but would enjoy it if you work from home or don't leave him alone more than 6 hours.  Maverick is a nervous guy and will need some time to adjust to new people and a new environment.  Once he get to knows you, he will enjoy snuggles on the couch! The suggested adoption donation for Maverick is $315. Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization which means that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Alterations are REQUIRED for all Muddy Paws adoptions. The contract states the alter must be done within ONE month of the adoption date or the adopter will be in breach of contract. Story
Meet Armani!!  Born in July 2022, Armani is a Lab mix now seeking a forever home filled with unconditional love.  We want to get him into a REAL home where he can live his best life!!!  He is initially timid and wary of new faces, but he warms up quickly with patience and affection.  Armani, the epitome of cuteness and affection, craves the company of his humans, whether snuggled on the sofa or playing outdoors with his toys. His happiness knows no bounds as long as he is by your side. Given his timid nature and ongoing journey to regain trust in the world, Armani would do best in a child-free environment, preferably where he is the only dog.  He needs a fenced yard to give him a secure space to release his energy.  Armani displays remarkable intelligence, making great strides in his training, nearly mastering commands like Sit and Lay Down. Armani was taken in by a compassionate Muddy Paws volunteer.  He was found terrified in a bustling kennel, quivering in a corner, bewildered by the situation.  His moments seemed numbered, nearing what could have been his last hours.  Thankfully luck was on his side that day!  Help us give him another "best" day and apply to meet this sweet boy! To help ensure Armani has the smoothest transition into his furever home, he will require a couple of sessions with one of our Positive Reinforcement/Relationship-based Trainers. Lucky for him, every dog adopted out through Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue comes with lifetime free behavioral training with one of our Positive Reinforcement/Relationship-based Trainers! The suggested adoption donation for Armani has been partially covered by a group of animal lovers who want to see Armani in a safe, loving home, his adjusted adoption donation is $150. Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Once your application has completed our prescreen steps, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match.
