Story
It breaks our hearts, but we’ve made the difficult decision to find a new home for Mr. Rogers, our Labradoodle. We recently moved from our 3-acre property into a neighborhood. Mr. Rogers is 5 1/2 and is an incredibly intelligent, loving, and loyal dog. He was trained on an underground fence and has done very well with it. His favorite place is relaxing on the front porch, watching the world go by. He loves playing fetch, splashing in the water, and spending time with his people. He’s playful, affectionate, and always happy to make a new friend. He is happiest living outdoors. He only comes inside during extreme weather and would much rather spend his days outside exploring, lounging on the porch, or keeping an eye on his surroundings. Mr. Rogers gets along well with other dogs and has never shown aggression toward our small dog, even when she nips when playing. We’re looking for a home with acreage or plenty of space where he can thrive outside.

These pups are in La Grange, Kentucky too!

Story
Meet Lincoln! 🩵 If you’re looking for a puppy that’s equal parts adorable, goofy, and affectionate, Lincoln just might be your guy! With his striking merle coat, short little legs, and one-of-a-kind look, he’s guaranteed to stop people in their tracks. We were hoping to have his DNA results back before posting him for adoption, but he’s too amazing to keep waiting! So, what’s your guess? 🤔 Do you see Dachshund? Schnauzer? Australian Shepherd? Or maybe something completely different? We can’t wait to find out what his DNA says, but we’d love to hear what you think in the meantime! Lincoln is believed to be around 5½ months old and has a wonderful personality. He loves to play, enjoys spending time with other dogs, and is just as happy soaking up attention from his people. He’s the kind of puppy who can keep you smiling with his silly antics and then melt into your lap when it’s time to relax. He’s crate trained, is working on potty training, and is learning his basic manners. Like any young puppy, Lincoln will benefit from continued structure, training, and socialization to help him grow into a confident, well-mannered companion. Lincoln is ready to find a family that will love him for exactly who he is—whatever his DNA results may reveal! One thing is certain: he’s 100% good boy and can’t wait to meet his forever family. ❤️

✨ Don't miss your chance to meet Sully! ✨ If you've been looking for a big, fluffy best friend, we've got your guy. At 62 pounds of lovable, goofy, talkative Poodle mix, Sully has plenty of love to give, and yes, he has plenty to say, too! According to our Executive Director, Debbie, who has been fostering him in her home, Sully isn't shy about using his voice. He's not barking out of meanness, he simply likes to let you know when he'd like, some attention, or maybe just to tell you about his day. He loves to be right next to his person. Living in a home has given Sully the opportunity to be well-socialized with other dogs, cats, and he has gotten to experience everyday life outside the shelter. He's proven himself to be a friendly, affectionate, intelligent companion who's ready to settle into his forever home. Like all HSOC dogs, Sully comes: 🐾 Up to date on vaccinations 🐾 Current on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention 🐾 Neutered If you're ready for a loyal companion who will keep you smiling (and occasionally chatting back), Sully is waiting to meet you! ❤️

Story
Meet Bear 🐻 Bear is a perfectly named big teddy bear with an even bigger heart. This sweet, loving, and affectionate boy thrives on being close to his people and is happiest curled up next to you on the couch for snuggles. He’s a sensitive soul who bonds deeply with his family and loves being part of everyday life. Bear is doing great in the home. He is housebroken, crate trained, and sleeps peacefully on a dog bed in the bedroom at night. He gets along well with other dogs, enjoys toys and bones, and loves rolling in the snow and going on daily walks. He walks nicely on a leash and already knows basic commands like sit and shake, and he’s eager to keep learning. In true Pyrenees form, Bear enjoys exploring and making new friends, so he will require a securely fenced yard — preferably with a taller fence — to keep him safe while he follows his curiosity. Like many young dogs, Bear is still polishing his manners. He’s very food-motivated and may check the counters for snacks if food is left unattended, and when he gets excited, he sometimes forgets his size and may jump to say hello. He also loves being close to his people and doesn’t quite understand personal space — which just means more love to give! Bear would do best with a family willing to continue guiding him as he learns, and in return you’ll get a loyal, affectionate companion who just wants to love and be loved. If you’re looking for a sweet, snuggly best friend, Bear might be your guy. 🐾
