Consider the lifestyle change this puppy will come with. He cannot be crated for more than 3-4 hours at a time until he’s older. Puppy-proofing your home will be necessary. Puppies scratch and nip, so if you have small children, can they handle this? Training will be so important in this puppy’s life. Do you have the time? Adoption donations cover pre-adoption vet costs (including vaccinations, spay/neuter, heart worm test if applicable) microchip, worming and flea/tick/heart worm (if applicable) preventatives. Donations for our young, healthy puppies and dogs support their fellow canines of advanced age or suffering from injuries and abuse whose donations are reduced but whose veterinary costs are typically much higher. Cathy is making progress. ❤️ When Cathy first came to the Humane Society of Oldham County from a hoarding situation, she was so overwhelmed that she refused to eat or socialize with people at all. Since going into foster care - thank you, Angela! - Cathy has been slowly learning that people can be kind, homes can be safe, and life can be good. She is making positive progress, one small step at a time. 🥹 Cathy is going to need a special kind of home. A quiet home. A patient home. A home with gentle hands and even gentler hearts. One thing Cathy has never been shy about is her love for other dogs. She LOVES them! We believe she would do best in a home with one or multiple confident canine companions who can help show her that the world isn’t such a scary place. Cathy can also live with kitty cats. Small children, however, would probably be a little too overwhelming for this timid girl. At 2 years old and just under 41 pounds, Cathy is still a little underweight, but she has been slowly gaining and continuing to make progress. We have labeled her a Red Labrador Retriever, although you’re more than welcome to decide for yourself what you think she looks like! 😉 Cathy may not be the dog who runs up to greet you right away. She may need time to trust you. She may need you to celebrate the tiny victories along the way. But somewhere underneath all that fear is a sweetheart who deserves the chance to learn what being loved feels like. ❤️ If you have an open space in your home (and an even bigger space in your heart) for a special girl who needs some extra love and patience, please submit an application for Cathy.

Nellie is potty trained, does great in her crate, and absolutely loves her foster dog siblings. She’s still figuring out a few things—like those suspicious things called stairs 😂—but she’s getting braver and more confident every day. One of Nellie’s favorite things is running and playing in her foster family’s fenced yard, where she can stretch those long legs and just be a dog! ❤️ Nellie is looking for a family who will continue helping her build her confidence and experience the world. Walks, adventures, car rides, patios, parks…she’s ready for someone to show her all the fun things she’s been missing! When Sammy returned to us in June after her owner had to move, she weighed 113 pounds. Fast forward to August, and this determined girl is down to 98 pounds! 💪 She still has a little more to lose, but every pound brings her closer to a healthier, happier life. Now all she needs is a family to cheer her on. At 7 years old, Sammy is the total package. She's left the puppy antics behind and has all the wonderful qualities that come with a mature dog; good manners, intelligence, and a perfect, loving personality.
